Abstract

PURPOSE: To dispense with cobalt and nickel 2nd reduce the cost of a permanent magnet, by utilizing ferrite of high coercive force at a low magnetic flux density to make the magnet.
CONSTITUTION: The cylindrical permanent magnet 8 made of the ferrite magnetized in the axial or circumferential direction of a columnar iron core 7 is arranged thereon. A spacer 11 made of a magnet of high coercive force is provided on the iron core 7. A bottomed cylindrical casing 9 is fitted on the permanent magnet 8 and the spacer 11. The end faces of the magnet 8 and the core 7 open at the mouth of the casing 9 are used as attractive faces 12. When a piece 15 is brought into contact with the attractive faces 12, a magnetic flux of high density are produced through the faces to strongly attract the piece 15. If the area of the spacer 11 is contact with the core 7 is four times larger than that of the magnet 8 and the residual flux density of the magnet 8 is 4000 gauss, the magnetic flux density on the attractive faces 12 is 4000×4=16000 gauss. The attractive force per unit area is thus heightened.
