Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain stable horizontal orientation effect on conductive film and plastic substrate, by providing orientation treated films using two kinds of specific high molecular substances.
CONSTITUTION: A transparent conductive films 2 such as In2O3 containing a small content of Sn is provided on a plastic substrate 1 such as polyester film by vapor deposition. Next, a solution of high molecular substance having amide bond such as nylon and high molecular substance having epoxy radical is dipped, spread, and dried, and then backed at a temperature of less than 150°C. After baking, the panel surface having the film 2 is lightly rubbed with a cotton cloth, and an orientation treated film 5 is formed. Two panels are opposedly held across a sealing material 3, and a nematic liquid crystal 4 is sealed in. This oriented film material is free from influences of conductive film, and does not possess moisture permeability, moisture absorption characteristics or air permeability, withstands temperatures of higher than 200°C, and is chemically stable.
