Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the time of access by using a read selection converter which selects only selected block information in a string of parallel input information and converts it into series output information.
CONSTITUTION: Minor loops 21 are bundled as many as (m) to form block 22, and blocks are bundled as many as (n) to form all memory loops. Each cylindrical magnetic-domain generator 23 generates the same informaion. Cylindrical magnetic domains generated in series reach one selected block 22 only through write selection converter 24 and are stored in each minor loop 21 in parallel. In read operation, cylindrical magnetic domains are output in parallel from all blocks and those of only blocks selected via selection converter 25 are extracted. Parallel cylindrical magnetic domains are converted into series at a proper stage of converter 25 and magnetic domains of each block are converted into one transfer path, which is connected to detector 26. Consequently, the number of selection lines can be reduced and the mean time of access can be shortened.
