Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep the air fuel ration constant in the idling of an engine and prevent the production of harmful substances, by opening or closing the slow port of a piston-valve-type carburetor with a side wall located at the downstream side of a piston.
CONSTITUTION: A needle 16 secured on the top of the piston 3 slides in an orifice 17 to regulate the quantity of fuel to be supplied through the orifice 17. The side wall 4 projects at the downstream side of the piston 3. The slow port 5 like a nozzle projects at the upstream side of the side wall 4. An idle port 13 is opened at the downstream side of the side wall 4 and fitted with a regulating vale 15. The slow port 5 is not opened until piston 3 is moved up over a prescribed level. Idling fuel is controlled by only the regulating valve 15 provided at the idle port 13. The air fuel ratio is thus prevented from fluctuating due to the slow port 5.
