Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a suction system of an engine from being affected in temperature by recirculation of gas by constituting an EGR gas temperature controller for an exhaust gas recirculation system of an internal combustion engine such that the temperature of recirculating gas is controlled by cooling water in accordance with the running conditions of the engine. CONSTITUTION:Suction and exhaust pipes 5, 7 of a Diesel engine 1 are connected to each other by means of an exhaust gas recirculation duct 9. The duct 9 has disposed on the outer periphery thereof a cooler 10 which has fins provided in the interior thereof and into which part of cooling water is introduced by means of cooling water ducts 13, 14. The cooling water duct 14 has a solenoid valve 15 provided therein which is electrically connected to an operation controller 16 which receives signals from an engine load detector 17 and an engine cooling water temperature detector 18, whereby the amount of cooling water which flows through the cooler 10 is controlled in accordance with the running conditions of the engine.
