Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide an additive introducing insertion body having a superior addn. yield by filling an insulating molded body made of org. substance with additives to be added to molten metal and powders of a diffusion accelerating assistant, an elution retarding assistant, a nonmetallic inclusion aggregation accelerating assistant, etc.
CONSTITUTION: In order to perform desulfurization, deoxidation, alloy addn., etc. additives such as Al, Ti, Zr, SiC and CaC2 are added to molten metal such as molten iron or steel. At this time, insulating molded body 1 is filled with additive 4 prepared by mixing powders of the above-mentioned additives with a diffusion accelerating assistant such as sawdust or flock which releases a reducing gas when contacted to molten metal, an elution retarding assistant such as CaO, CaF2, SiO2 or Al2O3, and a nonmetallic inclusion aggregation accelerating assistant consisting mainly of a fluorine cpd. and a silicic acid cpd. contg. oxide of Al, Ca, Mg or the like. Body 1 is made of org. substance such as synthetic resin paint film, tar pitch film or craft paper which is thermally decomposed to release a reducing gas for agitating molten metal when contacted to molten metal. Steel sheet lid 5 having vent holes 5a is attached to body 1, and body 1 is inserted in molten metal.
