CONSTITUTION:5-30% Al-Mg alloy is blended with 70-95wt% CaO,which is then pulverized into the particle size smaller than about 0.105mm. The adhering moisture of the Al-Mg alloy is perfectly removed prior to use. Al included in the blended Al-Mg alloy bonds with O2 of the molten iron, and promotes the deoxidizing action; and Mg bonds with S and causes the desulfurizing reaction. The desulfurizing speed due to Mg is increased by the deoxidizing action due to Al; and Mg shows the desulfurization promoting effect, effective against CaO to be main desulfurizing agent.
