Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a sealing-up property, reduce the number of parts and raise economical efficiency, by providing a straight part which extends down as lower part of an oil seal and by tightly fitting a check seal over a bearing. CONSTITUTION:In a shock absorber, a bearing 2 is secured with a bushing 2a on the upper end of a cylinder 1, a piston rod 3 is inserted into the central part of the bearing and an oil chamber 4 is defined in the cylinder. A cover 5 is secured over the bearing 2. An oil seal 6 is provided in the center of the cover. An outer tube 10 is fixed on the cover 5 so that a gas chamber 11 is defined. A straight part 8 extends down as a lower part of the oil seal 6. A check seal 13 is tightly fitted over the bearing 2. The straight part 8 and the check seal 13 are set in tight contact with each other so that an opening 19 between the straight part 8 and the bearing 2 is isolated from the gas chamber 11.
