Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a shock absorber of long shock absorption stroke with a compact gas chamber of large capacity, by forming the periphery of the gas chamber of a cylinder into a double construction in such a manner as to constitute an outer chamber of said gas chamber and linking the outer chamber to the gas chamber. CONSTITUTION:The periphery of a gas chamber 9 of a cylinder 1 is formed into a double construction in such a manner that an outer chamber 9a of said gas chamber 9 is constituted, to link said outer chamber 9a to the gas chamber 9 through a small hole 15. In this way, a capacity of the gas chamber 9 is increased by the volume of the outer chamber 9a, and said capacity can be increased by a slight increase of outside diametrical dimension without changing the overall length of a shock absorber (d) because an area of cross section of the outer chamber 9a is determined by a difference of cross section between a cylindrical substance 10 and the gas chamber 9. Accordingly, a movable wall 7 can be shifted to a postion near the small hole 15, thus to obtain a longer shock absorption stroke of the absorber (d).
