Abstract

PURPOSE: To correct deviations of beam spot from the reference optical axis on the scanning face of each objective lens by controlling a light deflector according to the quantity of polarization corresponding to the specified objective lens having been stored in a memory device.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of performing recording and reproducing by fixing a recording medium 1 and linearly moving a rotary scanner 2 provided with objective lenses 3 while letting the same rotate, the quantity of deviation of a light deflector 8 is beforehand measured with respect to each objective lens 3 and is stored in a memory 13. The scanning start time is detected with the detector 14 and this is supplied to a control circuit 16 via assignment circuit 15 and the quantity of polarization having been stored in the memory 13 is applied to the light deflector 9 via control circuit 12 and the apparatus is so constituted that the beam from a laser 6 is polarized for a specified quantity in this way. As a result, the deviation of the beam spot from the reference optical axis on the scanning face of each objective lens 3 may be corrected and therefore information may be accurately recorded and reproduced.
