Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate focus adjustment and reduce weight and cubic volume by using a conductive permanent magnet as a focusing magnetic field generation means and storing this magnet in a vacuum outside vessel and applying the focus adjusting voltage to this magnet according to demand to focus an image on a fluorescent face.
CONSTITUTION: Electrons from cathode electrode 3 heated by heater 2 are focused by a triple-pole lens, which is constituted by first and second grid electrodes 4 and 5, and a pre-focus lens, thereby forming crossovers. Next, focused electrons are accelerated with a fixed divergence by third grid electrode 6, and are focused by fourth grid electrode 8, and are irradiated onto a fluorescent substrance face.
