Abstract

PURPOSE: To form an electroplated face with superior wear resistance by dispersing below 5mm long carbon fibers in a plating bath contg. a levelling agent and carrying out plating to coprecipitate the fibers and the plating metal.
CONSTITUTION: 5W50g/l of below 5mm long carbon fibers are dispersed in an electroplating bath of Ni, Pb, Sn, Zn or Cr. 1W10% of a levelling agent is necessarily added to the bath in advance. At the time of plating, the bath is stirred to uniformly disperse the fibers, and carbon fiber-metal coprecipitates are formed on the surface of a product to be plated. The resulting plated face has superior wear resistance and is effectively applicable to a sliding member, tools, dies, etc.
