Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the corrosion resistance and plating adhesion of a zinc electroplated steel plate by adding a specified amount of Ni and Cr to the zinc plated film of the steel plate.
CONSTITUTION: In the manufacture of a zinc electroplated steel plate, a zinc plating bath contg. 70W370g/l sulfate ion, 45W60g/l Ni ion, 0.5W13g/l sexivalent Cr ion and 10W80g/l boric acid is used as a zinc electroplating bath, and electroplating is carried out while keeping the bath at 1.4W2.0pH. When a Zn-Ni alloy is deposited, Cr is codeposited to form a Zn alloy plated layer contg. 10W20wt% Ni and 0.01W1.0wt% Cr. The corrosion resistance of a Zn plated layer is enhanced by Ni, and it is further enhanced by codepositing Cr in such a specified range.
