Abstract
PURPOSE: The above-mentioned material which is safe and economcnal and can can occlude release easily a large quantity of hydrogen at room temperature, is expressed with the general formula of ABa and is obtained by regulating the atom ratio a of the prescribed A consisting mainly of Ti to the prescribed B consisting mainly of Mn.
CONSTITUTION: The metal material which is expressed with the general formula of ABa (where a is 1W3). In the above material constituted of A and B, A consists of, in atom %, Ti: 58Wbelow 100% and more than one kind out of Zr and Hf: the balance; B consists of, in atom %, Mn: 20Wbelow 100% and more than one kind out of Cr, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Nb, Mo, Ta, La and Ce: the balance. The material in which A consists preferably of Ti and Zr and B consists preferably of Mn, Cr and Fe and of which the general formula is expressed with Ti1-xZrxMn2-y-zCryFez where x=0.05W0.4, y=0.4W1.3, z=0W0.3 (on condition that z=0 is not included), is cheap and easily prepared. Besides, Fe in the above material may be replaced with Cu.
