Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce generation of poisonous gas by permitting normal combustion of air-fuel mixture at the time of the deceleration with a negative pressure control unit, which is used for an exhaust gas purifying system for automotive engines.
CONSTITUTION: When the manifold negative pressure exceeds a predetermined value at the time of the local deceleration, this negative pressure is led through a path 7 to a right chamber 5 in a differential valve 3 while it is also led through an orifice 8 to a left chamber 6. As a result, a pressure difference is produced across a diaphargm 4, causing the diaphragm 4 to be forced rightward against a spring 9 to open an atmospheric air inlet valve 2, whereby atmospheric air is introduced into a path 1 open to atmosphere and also to the intake manifold to prevent air-fuel mixture from becoming excessively rich. Further, the atmospheric air is led through check valves 12 and 14 to paths 11 and 13 to cause an EGR negative pressure path and a disboost negative pressure path to be opened to atmosphere. As a result, an ERG control valve is closed to stop circulation of the exhaust gas, thereby reducing the generation of poisonous gas.
