Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the reproduction output and S/N of short wavelength recording by composing a vertical magnetization method recording medium in two-layer cons- truction of magnetic thin film of uniaxial anisotropy having large coercive force and magnetic body for recording and applying bias magnetic field at the same time when recording and reproduction.
CONSTITUTION: On a base 12 made of nonmagnetic material are placed a uniaxial anisotropic magnetic thin film 10 having a hardly magnetized axis in direction H (running direction of recording medium) and an easily magnetized axis in direction E ion the figure, and a recording magnetic body 11. to constitute a relording medium. For said uniaxil anisotropic thin film 10, Ni-Fe- Co base or Ni-Fe-Mo base alloy is vapor-deposited or electro-deposited in the magnetic field, and the anisotropic magnetic field of the film should be preferably about 5 to 100 oersteds. When recording, using bias source 13, bias magneftic field is applied in the direction of hardly magnetized axis of uniaxial anisotropic thin film 10 only in the vicinity of recording point by head 14 in order to apparently reduce the coercive force in the direction of easily magnetized axis, so that the magnetic permeability may be increased. Hence, the diffusion of recorded part may be prevented
