Abstract

PURPOSE: To heighten the efficiency of processing of exhaust gas, by installing a concentration regulator in an exhaust gas recycle system.
CONSTITUTION: The exhaust gas recycle system comprises a carburetor intake pipe 1, an EGR valve 3 and an EGR gas concentration regulating valve 4. The EGR valve 3 has a diaphragm chamber 5 connected to an EGR negative pressure port 7. A valve chamber 8 is connected at one end to an EGR supply port and at the other end to a valve chamber 9 of the EGR gas concentration regulating valve 4. The valve 4 has an atmosphere EGR shift valve 12 and a diaphragm chamber 11 connected to a negative pressure port 10. The shift valve 12 varies the cross-sectional area of jet passages 13, 14 in the valve chamber 9 in response to the motion of a diaphragm. The jet passage 13 is opened into the atmosphere and the other jet passage 14 is connected to the EGR gas. When the negative pressure of the intake manifold is strong, the cross-sectional area of the EGR jet passage 14 is reduced and the quantity of secondary air becomes higher than that of the EGR gas.
