Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve a corrosion-proof property at a high temperature, by applying a nickel-aluminum alloy metal being made at a low cost and having an excellent corrosion-proof property on a surface of an ignition plug electrode made of a nickel system metal.
CONSTITUTION: A center electrode 1 and an earthing electrode 2 are constituted in such a manner that forms a film 4 of a nickel-aluminum compound on a surface of an ignition plug electrode material 3. A coating liquid having 50 to 90 weight percent of an aluminum or aluminum alloy powder and 10 to 50 weight percent of a plastic resin is dried after being applied on a surface of the ignition plug electrode material, and an aluminum film layer is formed as a result of being heated. It is further held in more than 30 minutes at a temperature of 700 to 850°C and the aluminum film layer and the nickel metal material can be reacted on each other. The film layer 4 can thus be formed.
