Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a glossy sheet-like material having improved friction resistance and fastness to laundering without lowering original feeling, by undercoating a sheet-like material with a coating compotion blended with small pieces of a metallic foil to form layer, which is dried, hot-pressed, and topcoated by a coating composition.
CONSTITUTION: Lamellar small pieces of a metal, e.g., gold, silver, copper, etc., having a thickness of 0.6W2.5μ and a particle size of 30W300 mesh is uniformly blended with a coating composition consisting of a thermoplastic resin (e.g., vinyl acetate resin) dissolved in a solvent or dispersed into a dispersion medium and a small amount of a thermosetting resin (e.g., melamine resin) to give an undercoat, which is applied to a sheet-like material. In spraying method a viscosity of the composition is 800W2500 centripoise; in coating method aviscosity of composition, 10,000W30,000 centipoise. After drying, the material is treated by hot calender at 100W130°C and 20W50 kg/cm2 and pressed by plate. The material is then topcoated with the coating composition, dried, and baked at 120W150°C for a short time to give the title material.
