Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a phenolic resin for the production of prepreg having excellent impact strength and suitable for laminate molding, by reacting a phenol with an aldehyde in the presence of an amine catalyst adding an aniline (derivative) and a specific oligomer to the reaction system.
CONSTITUTION: A phenolic compound (1 g-mole) is made to react with an aldehyde in the presence of an amine catalyst, such as monoethanolamine, dimethylamine, triethylamine, etc., adding 0.015W0.045 g-mole of an aniline (derivative) and 5W25 g of a nonylphenol-formaldehyde oligomer (having 2W4 nuclei) to the reaction system, to obtain the title phenolic resin having an average molecular weight of 300W400.
