Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufactre semipermeable membrane which is excellent in semipermeability, contracting resistance, hydrolysis resistance, etc., by cross-linking a membranous aminoalcohol-modified epihalohydrin polymer by contacting it with a cross-linking agent with more than two functional groups capable of reacting with the hydroxyl groups of the polymer. CONSTITUTION:A membranous aminoalcohol-modified epihalohydrin polymer is dipped in a reaction bath containing a cross-linking agent with more than two isocyanate groups, e.g., TDI, EDI, etc., a dibasic carboxylic acid, and a solvent, e.g., a HC series solvent, ether, etc. In this case, the preferred concentration of the cross-linking agent is 0.1 to 2.0 % by weight, and also the preferred dipping time is 30 sec to 30 min. The membranous polymer is taken out of the reaction bath, dried, and then kept at 50 to 150 deg.C for the completion of cross-linking. The membrane thus obtained obviates the need for storage in the wet state and also has excellent removability for salts, high molecular compounds, etc., in water or other liquids.
