Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the captioned composite membrane which is suited for use in a reverse osmosis method and has high selective permeability and water permeability, etc. by crosslinking the specific amine-contained polymer on a microporous substrate membrane through the use of the crosslinking agent which readily reacts with the amino groups contained. CONSTITUTION:The amine-contained polymer A (e.g.; polymer having repetitive units of formula II) of formula I which contains NH2 remained in the polyamine residual groups at not less than 0.5 milli equivalent in 1g of the polymer and dissolves at 0.5g/100cc or over in a water or water- soluble organic solvent at above ordinary temperature is prepared. Next, the solution of water, etc. of this polymer A is coated or dipped to the polysulfone porous membrane reinforced with, e.g., non-woven fabrics, after which the membrane is drained for 1-30minutes in general at room temperature. The foregoing base material formed with the thin film is subjected to crosslinking treatment by using the crosslinking agent having two or more functional groups which are capable of forming carvone, urea bond, etc. by reacting with the NH2 groups contained in the polymer A (e.g., isophthalic acid chloride), whereby the intended selective permeable composite membrane is obtained.
