Abstract

PURPOSE: Ferromagnetic metal powder produced in wet reduction process is pretreated in intermediate stock tank containing nonoxidizing gas and then transferred to the next drying process, thereby efficiently dehydrating while preventing oxidation.
CONSTITUTION: Ferromagnetic metal powder solution produced by wet reduction process flows through pipe 1 into the tank A. To prevent oxidation, nonoxidizing gas such as N2 is admitted through pipe 3 into the tank A. The metal powder is kept floating in the tank A by rotation of the blade 5. The agitating metal powder solution is, while being protected from oxydation, sent by the pump P1 to the precipitating tank B where slurry is formed. From the tank B, separated water is extracted from the top and slurry is sent by the pump P2 to the drier C. The completely dehydrated ferromagnetic metal powder is, while being protected by nonoxidizing gas, sent by the rotary valve R1 to the heat treatment apparatus D. The heat treated product is delivered to the product tank E. Thus, the process reduces the time for dehydration and assures production safety.
