Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the resultant development so as to be superior in sharpness and high in resolution while maintaining the advantages of an elastic roller by letting only the developing solution be first contacted to the electrostatic latent image carrier face. CONSTITUTION:A drum form photoreceptor 11 which is formed with inage-form latent images by a latent image forming means 13 makes contact to the developing solution 17 in a solution bath 18 in a developing device part 14 and is instantaneously developed at the edge parts of the latent images in its (z) part. Next, a developing roller 19 provided with an elastic foam 3 and net body 4 around a shaft 2 is pressure-contacted in the state wherein the solution 17 has been sucked sufficiently to the photoreceptor 11 to form the nip part (x) and the images are further developed by the solution 17 squeezed out from the roller 19. Next, at the time when the pressure contact part of the roller 19 detaches from the photoreceptor 11, the roller 19 sucks the excess solution 17 near the same by the restoring force of the foam 3. Further the roller 19 is pressure-contacted by the nip part (y) formed by the refresh roller 20 in the solution 17, whereby the solution 17 is exchanged and replenished.
