Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the life and activity of a catalyst for the preparation of diacetoxybutene from butadiene, containing a specific metal as main catalytic component and an alkali metal acetic acid salt as co-catalytic component, by supplying the co- catalytic component to the reaction system during the reaction.
CONSTITUTION: Diacetoxybutene is prepared by the gas-phase reaction of butadiene and acetic acid with O2 in the presence of a catalytic system comprising a VIII group noble metal such as Pd, Pt, etc. as main component and an acetic acid salt of an alkali metal as co-catalytic component, pref. at 145W220°C. To keep the high activity and high selectivity of the catalytic system for a long period, the alkali metal acetate solution is supplied to the reaction system continuously or intermittently, during the reaction. The catalyst is pref. supported by a carrier such as alumina, silica, etc., and it may contain other co-catalyst component.
