Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the energy loss of laser light and the degradation of optical system by performing the deflection of the beam spot position for tracking adjustment or jitter correction through turning or parallel moving of the prism disposed in the optical path of laser luminous flux. CONSTITUTION:The laser luminous flux 12 from a laser light source 11 transmits through a semi-transparent mirror 13, is deflected by a prism 14, is condensed by a lens 15 and is radiated as a minute beam spot on a recording medium 16 such as video disc or the like. After the laser light having been reflected is condensed by the lens 15, it is reflected by the semi-transparent mirror 13 via prism 16 and enters a photo detector 17. When in this constitution the prism 14 is turned like an arrow B, the laser luminous flux 12 intering the lens 15 deviates like the broken line, according to which the position of the beam spot on the recording medium 16 also deviates. Since the reflection loss on both faces of the prism is extremely small as compared to the reflection loss of the reflecting mirror, the loss in the optical system may be made considerably less as compared with apparatus of using conventional reflecting mirrors.
