Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil-based ink composition for use in a ball point pen which not only is free from occurrence of its drip during writing, but also affords food feeding on wiring to a writer, and further does not cause a failure in writing, such as a blur, by using a specific resin in its prepration. SOLUTION: This oil-based ink composition for use in a ball-point pen comprises a coloring agent, an organic solvent and a resin, wherein the resin is selected from among a polyvinyl butyral, a rosin-modified phenol resin, an α- and β-pinene/phenol polycondensation product and a combination thereof. A polyvinyl butyral is usually used in an amount in the range of 0.1 to 15wt.%. A rosin-modified phenol resin and an α- and β-pinene/phenol polycondensation product are usually used in an amount in the range of 1 to 40wt.% based on the amount of the ink composition. This ink composition provides a suitable ink composition even when it has a relatively low viscosity, for example, of 1 to 10Pa.S.

2. Description of the Related Art Heretofore, fluorescent ballpoint pen inks containing polyvinyl butyral have been disclosed (Japanese Patent Publication No. Sho 5).
No. 7-43185). The ink for a fluorescent ballpoint pen is used to adjust the viscosity of the ink by adding polyvinyl butyral as a thickener to obtain a ballpoint pen having an appropriate ink output. However, in general, a ballpoint pen using oil-based ink has a simple structure including a ball, a metal tip for holding the ball, and an ink storage tube fitted with the tip.
In a state where the writing tip is downward (inverted state), there is a possibility that ink dripping may occur from the writing tip. In particular, in the case of a relatively low-viscosity oil-based ballpoint pen that provides a smooth writing feeling like a water-based ballpoint pen, the ink dripping described above is likely to occur. Examples of the method of suppressing the ink dripping include increasing the ink viscosity, or reducing the gap between the ball and the chip. However, when the ink viscosity is increased, the writing feeling is heavy and smooth writing can be performed. It becomes difficult. In addition, when the gap between the ball and the chip is narrowed, the ink discharge is deteriorated and blurring occurs.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION When a colorant is a dye, an oil-based ink for a ball-point pen is prepared by charging other components into an organic solvent, stirring and dissolving while heating as necessary. Is done. When the colorant is a pigment, the pigment is mixed in an organic solvent in which a resin is dissolved in advance, and a lubricant is added to a pigment dispersion obtained by kneading with a disper, followed by stirring and dissolving. According to the present invention, polyvinyl butyral and a rosin-modified phenol resin or α- and β-pinene-phenol polycondensate are used in combination, or polyvinyl butyral and a rosin-modified phenol resin and α-
By using a polycondensate of β-pinene and phenol, it is possible to provide an oil-based ink composition for a ballpoint pen that does not cause ink dripping, has a good writing feel, and does not cause writing defects such as blurring. . In addition, even in the case of a relatively low-viscosity oil-based ballpoint pen ink that provides a smooth writing feeling, for example, an oil-based ballpoint pen ink having a viscosity of 1 to 10 Pa · S, it shows a suitable ink viscosity,
It is possible to provide an oil-based ink composition for a ballpoint pen having an appropriate ink ejection and writing performance without causing ink dripping.
