Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a complete sealing effect even if an end plate is eliminated. SOLUTION: The core metal 8 of an oil seal is constituted by folding a metallic plate 10. The metallic plate is provided with a plurality of folded parts 12... produced by forming notched parts 11 at equal intervals at its outer periphery, and a recessed groove 13 formed along the folded part. By folding the folded part 12 along the recessed groove 13, a core metal 8 is obtained whose outer periphery is a thick wall part.

2. Description of the Related Art FIG. 5 shows an end structure of a conventional hydraulic shock absorber having a general structure. This hydraulic shock absorber includes an outer cylinder 100 and an inner cylinder 101, and a piston rod 10 is provided at an upper end of the inner cylinder 101.
2, an oil seal 104 is held between the rod guide 103 and the caulked portion 100a at the upper end of the outer cylinder 100, and a cap 105 is provided at the upper end of the outer cylinder 100.

[0003] The oil seal 104 comprises a metal core 106 and a rubber material 107 integrally formed with the metal core 106 by injection molding or the like. The inner end of the rubber material 107 has an outer peripheral surface of the piston rod 102. There is provided a dust lip portion 108 for slidingly contacting with the dust and a lip portion 109 for scraping off oil adhering to the rod.

Further, the caulking portion 100a and the core metal 106
An end plate 110 is provided therebetween. The end plate 110 is provided for the purpose of raising and reinforcing. In other words, if the crimping portion 100a directly presses on the cored bar 106 without providing the end plate 110, the cap 105 is located at the lower portion by that amount, so that the cap 105 interferes with the lip portion 108. Incidentally, changing the size of the lip portion is not preferable because it affects the function of the oil seal 104. Therefore, adjustment is performed using the end plate 110.

In the above-mentioned conventional structure, since the end plate is provided, the number of parts and the number of assembling steps are increased. Also, instead of providing the end plate, it is conceivable to make the shape of the cap a shape that can avoid interference with the lip portion, but the shape of the cap must be complicated, which is not practical. Further, with the reduction of the clearance between the bump cap and the dust lip, it becomes impossible to secure the air bleeding hole from the stopper rubber located above the bump cap, such as when the damper is full bottom, so that foreign substances are pushed into the dust lip. Therefore, it is conceivable to make the outer peripheral portion of the core metal thicker by cutting or forging the core metal, but the processing is troublesome and leads to an increase in cost.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In order to solve the above problems, an oil seal of a hydraulic shock absorber according to the present invention is formed as a thick part by folding an outer peripheral portion of a metal plate serving as a reinforcing metal core. The thick portion is held between the rod guide and the caulked portion at the end of the outer cylinder.

[0007] The metal plate serving as the core metal may be formed with a lightening groove along a folded portion. By adopting such a configuration, the folding is facilitated, and the radius of the edge portion of the thick portion approximately matches the radius of the inside of the caulked portion, so that the oil seal can be reliably held and positioned.

The thick part of the metal core is constituted by a plurality of folded portions, and if a gap is formed between these folded portions, when the rubber material is poured into the mold by injection molding or the like, Since the rubber material spreads through the gap, it is possible to prevent the rubber material from wrapping around the upper surface of the thick portion, and the molding can be reliably performed.

Here, FIG. 2A is a plan view showing a state before the metal plate serving as the metal core is folded, FIG. 2B is a plan view of the metal core obtained by folding the metal plate, and FIG. Main part enlarged cross-sectional view of metal plate serving as core metal before folding back,
2B is an enlarged cross-sectional view of a main part of the metal core obtained by folding the metal plate. The oil seal 6 includes a metal core 8 and a rubber material 9, and the metal plate 10 serving as the metal core 8 is shown in FIG. )
As shown in FIG. 5, a plurality of folded portions 12 are formed by forming notches 11 at equal intervals in the outer peripheral portion, and lightening grooves 13, 14, 15 are formed along the folded portions.

Then, the above-mentioned folded portion 12 is folded along the lightening grooves 13, 14, and 15, whereby FIG.
And as shown in FIG.3 (b), the core metal 8 whose outer peripheral part became the thick part is obtained. Here, the provision of the lightening groove facilitates folding, but particularly, by providing the lightening groove 13, the radius of the corner of the thick portion of the core bar 8 approaches 90 °, and the inside of the caulked portion 1a is formed. A gap is less likely to be formed between the corners.

Further, a gap 16 is formed between the adjacent folded portions 12 in the state of the core bar 8. With the presence of the gap 16, the core metal 8 is set in the mold,
When the raw material of the rubber material is poured into the mold and molded, the raw material of the rubber material surely reaches the required portion in the mold through the gap 16.

The rubber material 9 is provided with lips 17, 18, 19 and a gas seal 20 in a mold integrated with the cored bar 8. The lip 17 prevents dust from entering from outside, the lip 18 scrapes off the hydraulic oil adhering to the outer peripheral surface of the piston rod 3, and the scraped hydraulic oil causes the lip 19 to bend. Is returned to the oil reservoir through the gas seal 20 and the gap between the rod guide 4 and the outer cylinder 1.

FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view showing another embodiment of the cored bar. As in this embodiment, the folding direction can be made different from that of the above embodiment. However, it is necessary that the thick part on the outer periphery protrudes toward the caulking part 1a compared to the central part with a small thickness.

According to the present invention as described above,
Because the conventional end plate was abolished without changing the size and shape of the oil seal lip and cap,
The clearance between the cap and the lip can be secured while reducing the number of parts and the number of assembling steps, and a reliable sealing effect can be exhibited.

Further, by forming a lightening groove along the turn-back portion of the metal plate serving as the metal core, the turn-up operation is facilitated, and the radius of the edge portion of the thick portion is formed inside the crimping portion. Since it almost matches the radius, the oil seal can be reliably held and positioned.

Further, if the thick portion of the core metal is constituted by a plurality of folded portions and a gap is formed between the folded portions, the rubber material is poured into the mold by injection molding or the like. Since the rubber material spreads through the gap, the molding is reliably performed.
