Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispose with a highly accurate guide member for mounting by fitting into a device case and a mechanism for mounting a recording paper cassette by using a stationary paper feed tray instead of a detachable recording paper cassette. SOLUTION: A paper feed tray 24 has an inclination of being higher frontward and lower innerward so that a recording paper 12 obliquely descends in a paper feed direction. A translucent cover 13 for a paper ejecting tray is opened, then a paper feed lid 22 is opened by hooking a finger by a notch in the paper feed lid and plural pieces of recording paper 12 are arranged at a specified position on the paper feed tray 24, i.e., inside a regulating part 25. The presence of the recording paper 12 can be visually determined from the front of the device through the notch in the paper feed lid 22, if the translucent cover 23 for the paper ejecting tray is closed. Further, a recessed part is provided in the front center part 27 of a recovering paper mounting part for the paper feed tray 24, so that the recording paper 12 can be easily pinched out by finger when it is unloaded. After arranging the recording paper 12, the paper feed lid 22 is closed to activate the device and the paper feed operation is initiated.

However, in the above configuration, since the recording paper is stacked on the recording paper cassette and mounted on the apparatus housing, a highly accurate guide member for mounting and fitting and a predetermined guide member are required. In the case where a mounting mechanism (not shown) for mounting at the position is necessary or the mounting is insufficient, the recording paper cassette detection switch (to prevent the lifting unit 13 or its interlocking mechanism parts from being damaged). (Not shown) or a cassette lock mechanism (not shown) during operation is necessary to prevent the recording paper cassette from being pulled out during the recording operation. However, there is a problem that the cost is increased. Also, the distance between the paper feed cassette and the paper transport
This requires two paper detectors 17 and 19, and also has a problem that the number of parts is large, the configuration is complicated, and the cost is increased.

In order to achieve this object, an image printer according to the present invention feeds sheet-like recording paper from a lower front portion of an apparatus housing toward the inside of the apparatus, and forms an image on the apparatus housing. An image printer that discharges paper to an upper part of a front surface, comprising: a paper feed tray for stacking the recording paper at a predetermined position; paper feeding means for feeding the recording paper into the apparatus; Paper transport means for transporting the paper after the paper is fed, switching means provided between the paper supply means and the paper transport means for switching the transport path of the recording paper, provided between the switching means and the paper transport means At least one paper detecting unit for detecting the recording paper, recording means for performing thermal transfer recording on the recording paper, paper discharging means for discharging the recording paper after recording by the recording means, and paper discharging means. Eject the recording paper A discharge tray for stacking the recording paper to supply the recording paper to the paper feed tray on the front side of the apparatus housing on the lower guide surface of the recording paper of the discharge tray. The paper feed cover is provided with a notch that can be seen from the front.

According to the present invention, since a fixed paper feed tray is used without using a detachable recording paper cassette with the above-described structure, a highly accurate guide member for mounting and fitting to the apparatus housing is provided. Also, the recording paper cassette and its mounting mechanism are unnecessary, and the recording paper cassette detection switch for preventing damage to the elevating part and its interlocking mechanism parts in case of insufficient mounting is also unnecessary. Since the cassette lock mechanism during operation for preventing the recording paper cassette from being pulled out is unnecessary, that is, the number of parts is small, the configuration is simple, and the apparatus cost can be further reduced.

In addition, a cutout is provided at the lower front surface of the recording paper guide surface of the paper discharge tray on the front side of the apparatus housing so as to be rotatable for supplying the recording paper to the paper supply tray and the recording paper can be viewed from the front of the apparatus. Since the paper feed cover is provided, it is easy to check the presence or absence of recording paper, and it is sufficient that the number of paper detection units is one between the paper feed tray and the paper transport means. What is necessary is just to open the paper feed cover with a finger and put the recording paper in it, and the handle is unnecessary and the opening becomes large, so that the operability is good and the cost can be reduced. In addition, since the paper feed tray and the paper feed lid are provided with a position regulating unit that positions the recording paper at a predetermined position in the transport direction, the paper feed tray and the pickup roller due to the incomplete loading of the recording paper and the curl of the recording paper may be used. It is possible to prevent a paper feeding failure such as a paper feeding slip caused by jumping out of a predetermined position at the time of reverse rotation by touch.

[0013] Further, since the central portion on the front side of the recording paper stacking portion of the paper feed tray has a concave shape, the recording paper can be picked up with a finger when the user replaces the recording paper.
The recording paper can be easily taken out, that is, the operability can be improved.

First, the elevating unit 13 is lifted to raise the recording paper lifting plate 10.
Is pushed up, the recording paper 12 on the recording paper push-up plate 10 is pressed against the pickup roller 8, and the pickup roller 8 rotates to convey a plurality of recording papers 12. On the other hand, the reverse roller 16 that has been separated from the separation roller 7 rotates and presses the separation roller 7, and rotates in the reverse direction with respect to the paper feeding direction. If the above is the case, a sheet feeding means for separating the second and subsequent sheets is formed.

The conveyed sheet of recording paper 12 is guided by a guide member 15 and a switching guide 6, and advances to a paper detecting section 17 where the end of the recording paper is detected, and a gap between the capstan roller 5 and the pinch roller 4 is detected. When the recording paper 12 is passed, the recording paper 12 is conveyed by the pressing and rotation of the capstan roller 5 and the pinch roller 4 and the thermal head 1
The thermal transfer recording is performed by the recording unit including the platen 2 and the ink sheet 3.

If the recording paper 12 is not present, the paper detecting unit 17 does not perform the detection, so that the operation is stopped after waiting for a predetermined time, and the display means (not shown) of the present image printer displays the absence of paper. On the other hand, after the end of the recording paper 12 is detected by the paper detection unit 17, the transport path is changed to the paper discharge unit by the switching guide 6 descending. Then, the paper is discharged and stacked on the paper discharge tray 9 by the driving of the paper discharge pinch roller 21, and the operation is completed. Even if the recording paper 12 after recording is discharged to the paper discharge tray 9, the presence or absence of the recording paper 12 can be confirmed by the cutout of the front paper supply lid 22.
