Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent growth of weeds on a borderline by applying a crack weed prevention material which is pasty at an ordinary temperature and naturally hardens by making contact with air on a surface with which a pavement material of a concrete product makes contact and pressing the pavement material against the surface under rolling compaction. CONSTITUTION:After a roadbed 4 is constructed by laying a footpath and driveway border block 1, a primer is applied on a part with which a pavement material on the back of the block 1 makes contact, and a molded crack weed prevention material 6 is attached. Thereafter, when an asphalt mixed material is scattered on the roadbed 4 and subjected to rolling compaction, the weed prevention material 6 is crushed by receiving rolling compaction force of a roller, consequently, crushed stones bite in the weed prevention material 6, the crushed weed prevention material 6 bites into cavity parts among the crushed stones and parts where consolidation of asphalt and stone powder is loose and it is integrated, cracks to allow budding and growth of weeds are eliminated, the weeds cannot come out on the ground surface and are withered. Consequently, it is possible to prevent growth of the weeds on a borderline between the block 1 and an asphalt pavement 3.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] On local roads, there are many fields and forests around the roads, and weeds tend to grow on the ends of sidewalks with few users. This is because the natural environment blessed with seeds of weeds and germination growth are rarely trampled by pedestrians and the like. And the following are the first opportunities for weeds to grow on this border.

The seeds and roots of weeds already mixed when the roadbed soil (mainly mountain soil is used) and the roadbed material (mainly crushed stone) are carried in germinate after asphalt paving. . Alternatively, after the roadbed soil or roadbed was constructed, it immediately germinated and grew during the period when it was left without asphalt paving, and was carried by the roots of weeds that lodged on the roadbed or roadbed, or carried by the wind or rainwater flow. Seeds germinate after asphalt paving. Alternatively, seeds invade through the gaps created after paving and germinate.

The following is a description of the components of the pavement material. Asphalt mixture is about 90%, 5% by weight of crushed stone, asphalt and stone powder,
It is a mixture of 5%, and when it is carried from the asphalt plant to the construction site and scattered on the roadbed, it is fluffy. When this is rolled with a roller, adjacent crushed stones rub against each other in the vertical and horizontal directions, pushing away the surrounding asphalt and stone powder and consolidating while maintaining a stable and stable solid layer. Form.

However, at the end of the pavement that is in contact with the concrete surface, one of the crushed stones abuts against the concrete surface, so there is only one direction of lateral movement, and only vertical movement, so that the crushed stone and the concrete surface move. The asphalt and stone powder between them are not sufficiently consolidated and loose. Further, since asphalt and stone powder do not have fluidity like liquids, the gap between the crushed stone and the concrete surface is not sufficiently filled, and many small voids are generated. This state can be confirmed well by pressing the asphalt mixture on the transparent glass plate and looking from the outside.

Light, air, and rainwater enter the minute gaps and the loosely consolidated portions to promote germination of seeds and allow the elongation of buds. This is because, as a characteristic of asphalt, a force that continuously acts for a long period of time, such as a push-up force of germination, has a property as a plastic body.

The process of growing and propagating the germinated weeds is as follows. In the first year, it germinates with the nutrients contained in the seeds, and the growth of roots, stems, and leaves is small, but after the second year, it germinates based on the nutrients stored in the roots in the previous year's growth, The buds on the surface of the ground spread their leaves and are exposed to sufficient sunlight, and by photosynthesis they feed nutrients to the roots to make them thicker. Then, the roots feed nutrients to the stems and leaves, and the roots and the stems and leaves grow in correlation with each other and grow larger with age,
It will breed while pushing up and penetrating the asphalt pavement. Also, in rhizome type plants, the roots also grow laterally and germinate from there, so the surface spreads quickly.

The problems of the conventional technique will be described.
(A) The method of spraying the herbicide is harmful to the environment depending on the amount, the weeds growing period and the problem of the herbicide spraying and the construction timing, and the effect on the seeds and roots mixed in the roadbed. There is a problem with sex and the effect is low. In addition, if a large amount is sprinkled too much, it has a harmful effect on the environment. (B) In the method of bending the edge of the weed-preventing sheet of Actual Kaihei 4-112923 upward and exposing it to the ground surface, the adhesion between the weed-preventing sheet and the concrete surface is weak, and the buds grow from this contact surface. (C) The method of sandwiching the molded joint material of JP-A-2-27004 has a long-term sustainability of the drug effect, and the method of injecting joint material requires heating to form a liquid, which complicates the work.

[Means for Solving the Problem] The case of asphalt pavement will be described. After construction of the roadbed, the surface of the concrete product that the pavement edge comes into contact with is covered with a weed control material that is molded from a synthetic resin that is plastic at room temperature and naturally hardens when exposed to air. The material is sprinkled and rolled with a roller to integrate the asphalt mixture and the weed control material to close the gap between the concrete product and the asphalt pavement. It should be noted that the gap preventive material may be a hard paste.

The function of the gap weed proof material will be described with reference to FIG. The asphalt mixture (a mixture of asphalt, crushed stone, and stone powder) receives the force of roller compaction and crushes the gap control grass. As a result, the crushed stones bite into the interstice weed control material, and the crushed interstitial weed control material bites into the voids between the crushed stones and into the loosely compacted portion of the asphalt and stone powder to be integrated. As a result, there is no gap that allows the weeds to grow, and the shoots die without being able to reach the surface. In addition, the elimination of the gap also stops the penetration of faint light, so that the “vegetative tropism” of the plant that tries to extend in the direction of the light does not work. This also hinders growth.

The present invention and the molded joint material of the invention of JP-A-2-27004 are similar, but the differences are as follows. (A) In JP-A-2-27004, a repellent and a herbicide are mixed, but the present invention is neither necessary nor necessary. (B) The properties of JP-A-2-27004 are a solid having elasticity or a heated liquid, whereas the present invention has a paste or plasticity at room temperature and hardens after construction. (C) While the action of JP-A-2-27004 depends on the repellent and the herbicide, the present invention eliminates the gap in which the weed control material and the asphalt mixture are meshed with each other and the weed buds grow. Is.

[Example] Fig. 1 was formed by laying a pedestrian road boundary block and a ground boundary block, constructing a roadbed, and then applying a primer (which improves adhesion) on the back surface of the block where the paving material contacts. A state in which a gap control material is attached is shown. The asphalt pavement at the back of the figure shows the completed state. It should be noted that the gap weed preventive material and the concrete surface are in close contact with each other when the asphalt pavement is being compacted, so that it is not necessary to use a primer. The method of temporarily fixing the weed control material should be lightly stopped with cellophane tape.

The primary effect of the crevice weed control material is not to block the voids in the contact surface between the asphalt mixture and the concrete product so that weed buds do not grow. The material requirements are paste-like or plasticity at room temperature, which naturally hardens after construction without special curing, and weather resistance is required.
Examples include vinyl emulsions (mixed vinyl and water), Bond K10, Bond K120 (Konishi Co., Ltd.), and Concrement (Cemedine Co., Ltd.). These are in the form of paste or liquid in the general commercially available state, but when molding, they are molded by drying and curing to an appropriate hardness for construction, and sealed with vinyl etc. during storage.

The shape of the gap weed control material is 5 to 10 in thickness.
Approximately millimeters and height, which is the same as the thickness of the pavement, is a little smaller, or is L-shaped. In the case of the L type, the horizontal part at the bottom is also more effective because it prevents weeds from growing. In addition, if a weed-proof sheet is laid over the bottom portion, a wide weed-proof effect can be secured in addition to the gap.

Although not a weed-preventive material, there is a molding joint material whose product name is similar to that used under the trade name of Cello-Seal SS tape (sold by Niseki Chemical Co., Ltd.). This is a mixture of asphalt, rubber, polymer elastomer and adhesive material, and is used for cracks, joints, pave edges, etc. of asphalt pavement to prevent infiltration of rainwater. The major difference between this product and the gap preventive material of the present invention is that it is an elastic body.
As described above, in order to stop the growth of germination of weeds, it is necessary to eliminate the void between the crushed stone and the surface of the concrete block, but an elastic joint material is poor in adaptability to the uneven shape of the crushed stone. For this reason, the crushed stone and the joint material do not mesh with each other like a plastic body and do not become one, so the void remains,
No weed control effect is obtained.

The types of pavement materials include the following as the main types other than asphalt, and even in these pavements, the mechanism of growing weeds is the same as in the case of the asphalt pavement described above. Therefore, the weed control structure of the present invention is effective. (B) Cast-in-place concrete pavement Pavement in which fresh concrete is placed on the roadbed and the surface is evenly finished with a trowel. (B) Concrete flat plate pavement Pavement in which square concrete plates are laid on a roadbed. (C) Interlocking block pavement This is a pavement in which brick blocks made mainly of concrete are laid on the roadbed. The blocks have uneven sides, and the blocks mesh with each other when laid. It is like this. (D) Brick pavement A pavement in which bricks are laid on the roadbed. (E) Pavement of blocks of wood Pavement where blocks of wood, such as dice and bricks, are laid on the roadbed. In addition, since weeds easily grow on all joints in the pavement of B, C, D, and E, it is good to put a weed-proof sheet on the entire pavement.
