2. Description of the Related Art At present, at nuclear power plants, one third of the nuclear fuel assemblies installed in the nuclear reactor are replaced with new ones every year. The spent nuclear fuel taken out of the reactor has been stored in the storage pool in the power plant for several years in the shape of the aggregate because it still emits strong radiation and heat due to the decay of the fission material. If the decay of the fissile material decays, the amount of heat generated will decrease,
Either reprocessing or intermediate storage is selected. Reprocessing plans are being promoted in Japan,
It is expected that the spent nuclear fuel that requires intermediate storage will increase in the long term. For this reason, the need for cheap and absolutely safe storage is gradually increasing.

EXAMPLE Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the illustrated example. In FIGS. 1 and 2, 1 is defined by a partition wall 1a made of a radiation shielding material such as concrete having a predetermined thickness. A storage cell having a large number of ventilation holes 1b on the bottom wall and a ventilation passage 1c on the top wall is provided around the storage cell 2 by an outer wall 2a made of a radiation shielding material such as concrete having a predetermined thickness. Defined and numerous ventilation holes 1b and ventilation paths
A closed air circulation path communicated with the inside of the storage cell 1 by 1c is a partition wall 3a made of a radiation shielding material such as concrete having a predetermined thickness, a roofing material 3b such as concrete having a proper thickness, and an outer wall 2a. And an outside air passage 4 formed adjacent to a part of the air circulation passage 2 and connected to the outside air by a part of the air circulation passage 4 and a wall 2a between the air circulation passage 2 and the outside air passage 3.
In the well-known heat pipe 5 whose central portion is airtightly attached, one end of which is exposed in the air circulation path 2 and the other end of which is exposed in the outside air passage 3, 5 is attached to the partition wall 3a and whose lower end is An exhaust stack 6 which communicates with the outside air passage 3 and has an exhaust hole 5a formed at the top thereof is installed in the ceiling portion of the storage cell 1 and stores spent nuclear fuel 7 from the outside.
It is a crane used for carrying in to a predetermined position inside or for carrying out from the inside of the storage cell 1 to the outside. As shown in FIG. 3, the spent nuclear fuel 7 actually has a cylindrical body made of steel or the like and internally sealed with helium, and contains one to several fuel assemblies of a predetermined size. The canister is handled as a unit, and the canister is erected vertically in a cylindrical support body with a sleeve arranged in parallel in the storage cell 1 as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. Stored in. Also, most of the storage cells 1 for storing spent nuclear fuel, that is, a large number of canisters 7, are constructed below the ground 8 as shown, and the canisters 7 are provided adjacent to the storage cells 1 by partition walls 1a. It is carried by a carrying device 10 traveling in a passage 9 and is lifted by a crane 6 from the carrying device 10 through a carry-in port 1a ′ provided in a partition wall 1a at a predetermined position and stored at a predetermined position in a storage cell 1. It has become so.

Since this storage is configured as described above, the spent nuclear fuel 7 can be easily carried in and out of the storage cell 1 by the carry-in port 1a ′, the crane 6 and the carrying device 10, and the spent nuclear fuel 7 carried in can be used. The nuclear fuel 7 is stored in a sealed state by closing the carry-in port 1a '. Further, since the temperature inside the storage cell 1 rises due to the amount of heat released from the stored spent nuclear fuel 7, convection occurs in the air circulation path 2 as indicated by the arrow in FIG. 1, but this convection air is Since heat is exchanged with the relatively cold outside air flowing in the direction of the arrow in the outside air passage 3 through the heat pipe 4, it is cooled. Therefore, the temperature in the storage cell 1 is suppressed to, for example, about 300 ° C. or lower, and the storage is always kept safe without danger of abnormal temperature rise. In this case, since the exhaust stack 5 is connected to the outside air passage 3, the air in the outside air passage 3 that has been heated by heat exchange is efficiently discharged to the outside.

FIG. 4 shows another embodiment of the present invention. In the drawing, the same or similar components and parts as those of the above-mentioned embodiment are designated by the same reference numerals. In this embodiment, a storage cell 1 is defined on both sides of a partition 1a, and a handling area 9'which also serves as a transport passage is defined above each storage cell 1 by the partition 1a. The partition 1a between the storage cell 1 and the handling area 9'is provided with a large number of inlets 1a 'which are coded in the arrangement pattern of the spent nuclear fuel or canister 7 to be stored, and which are carried in by the carrier 10. The spent nuclear fuel 7 can be loaded into and unloaded from the storage cell 1 through the port 1a ', and the crane 6 is installed in the handling area 9'and used for maintenance. Although the present embodiment is different from the above-described embodiment in other respects, other configurations and operations are the same as those of the above-described embodiment, and thus description thereof will be omitted.

EFFECTS OF THE INVENTION As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible not only to efficiently cool the spent nuclear fuel stored by complete natural circulation without using a special drive device that is always placed in an operating state. . Since the air in the storage is not connected to the outside air and the stored nuclear fuel is trapped in triple layers including the canister, it can be stored very safely and reliably for a long period of 50 to 60 years. , Maintenance is also easy. Further, since it is basically possible to construct by the conventional construction method and the existing technology, it is possible to provide this kind of storage having sufficient earthquake resistance, impact resistance, weather resistance, etc. at a relatively low price.
