Description
The present invention relates to a store for a large number of spent nuclear reactor fuel assemblies, which consists of a storage container with thick shielding walls and storage racks for the fuel assemblies and is provided with facilities for dissipating the decay heat. Such Storage facilities are necessary to keep the radioactivity of this spent fuel down to its Remanufacturing can largely decay in a secure manner. The from the stored fuel elements so-called decay heat given off must always be dissipated to prevent overheating of the elements and thus possible damage to the same caused by the escape of radioactive substances could be avoided with certainty.
Such a fuel element storage is associated with high costs, resulting from the debt service and the actual operating costs. These proportions are each about 50% of the total Storage costs. Since the decay heat, as already mentioned, must be dissipated, is especially for the Pumps require a high expenditure of energy, which makes up a significant proportion of the operating costs. With regard to the redundancy necessary for nuclear systems from a safety point of view is a device that serves to dissipate heat due to the sometimes multiple installation extraordinarily large and expensive technical effort is necessary.
Die ErfindungThe task was therefore to reduce and simplify the technical effort required for the removal of the decay heat without impairing safety and at the same time to dispense with the supply of external energy for the dissipation of the decay power.
This object is achieved according to the invention in the above-mentioned warehouse in that the device for dissipating the decay heat consists of heat pipes of a known type, the heat-emitting side of which protrudes into natural draft chimneys arranged next to the storage container. The invention
Eine von außen zuzuführende Fremdenergie ist dann nicht mehr notwendig.ίο assumes that when storing to use the residual heat generated by spent fuel elements to cool the Guarantee fuel assemblies. There is then no longer any external energy to be supplied from the outside necessary.
Die F i g. 1 und 2 zeigen schematische Darstellungen dieses Erfindungsprinzips, wobei F i g. 1 die Anwendung desselben im Falle eines sogenannten Naß-Lagerbekkens und die F i g. 2 jene im Falle eines Trocken-Lagerbeckens zeigt. The F i g. 1 and 2 show schematic representations of this principle of the invention, FIG. 1 the application the same in the case of a so-called wet storage basin and FIG. 2 those in the case of a dry storage pool shows.
The storage pool itself is denoted by 1, it is surrounded by thick shielding walls 2 made of concrete. So-called storage racks 5 are permanently installed in the storage pool, which also ensure that the fuel elements 8 stored cannot assume any critical geometry. Outside the storage basin, so-called natural draft chimneys 10 are arranged, these are chimneys that do not contain fans and have an air inlet opening at their base.
The decay heat developed by the fuel elements 8 heats the pool water 4 via heat pipes known design 6, this heat is at points evenly distributed over the pool volume removed and to the outside in the natural draft

The storage container 1 is here with a multi-part cover 3 completed at the top. In such a case, the fuel assemblies 8 are expediently in a bearing bush 81 is packed and the space is filled with carbonaceous granules 82. In addition to improving heat conduction, this granulate also serves to restrain any potential escaping fission products. The decay heat is in this case preferably by radiation from: o these cans 81 delivered to the storage rack or the environment. The heat pipes 7 are here reconnected to the storage rack and in this way surround the stored ones as completely as possible Fuel elements 8. As in the example according to FIG. 2 are the heat pipes 7 in the area of the natural draft chimney 10 again provided with heat-emitting elements 71. These heat pipes are used to ensure their function Provided in the area of the pool wall 2 with thermal insulation 21 so that it does not function is disturbed by heat emission in the area of this wall.
Since the heat pipes each represent an outwardly closed structure and with relative are operated at low temperatures, they are practically not subject to wear and tear thus an extremely reliable means of heat transport. Given the size of the Storage pools - these are set up to hold possibly thousands of fuel elements - as well are available in correspondingly large numbers, they constitute an inherently redundant heat dissipation system dar, d. That is, the failure of some heat pipes would practically not affect the entire operation at all can make noticeable. It follows that maintenance of these facilities is also practical is not necessary The decay heat itself, a External energy from the outside is not required as the heat pipes expediently along the lattice structure the storage racks are arranged, the loading and unloading of the fuel assemblies can be done in the usual way Way to be carried out.
Abschließend sei darauf hingewiesen, daß sich die vorliegende Erfindung im wesentlichen mit der Abführung der Nachzerfallswärme mit Hilfe der Wärmeröhren befaßt Die konstruktive Gestaltung des Lagerbekkens selbst wird dabei nur im Hinblick auf die benötigten Durchführungen für die Wärmeröhren durch die Wandungen beeinflußt Diese Durchführungen können dabei auch durch in diesen Bereichen stufenförmig abgewinkelte Wärmeröhren gestaltet sein, so daß damit auch die Strahlungsabschirmung an diesen Wandstellen in vollem Umfang erhalten bleibtFinally, it should be noted that the present invention essentially deals with the discharge the decay heat with the help of the heat pipes deals with the structural design of the storage basin itself is only carried out with regard to the required bushings for the heat pipes the walls affected These bushings can also be stepped through in these areas be designed angled heat pipes, so that the radiation shielding on these Wall spots is fully preserved
