(Prior Art) Work vehicles such as shovel loaders are often engaged in work for a long time in a residential area, a commercial area, or an area adjacent to these areas, and therefore reduction of engine exhaust noise is desired. ing. Conventionally, in order to reduce exhaust noise of an engine, a muffler in which at least one diffusion chamber and one resonance chamber are formed in a cylindrical casing has been widely used, but a sufficient exhaust noise reduction effect is not always obtained. Has not been done.

(Problems to be solved by the invention) As is well known in the art, engine exhaust noise is caused by explosion and combustion pressure fluctuations that occur in the engine cylinder, and vibrations due to opening and closing of intake and exhaust valves. ,
Furthermore, various sound waves with different frequencies, such as air column vibration generated in the exhaust pipe, are carried by the exhaust gas to the muffler, and a considerable part of the sound wave is absorbed and attenuated in the muffler, and the rest is tail pipe. It is based on the fact that it is dissipated into the open air. In order to improve the exhaust noise reduction effect of the muffler, it is sufficient to provide more diffusion chambers and resonance chambers in the muffler than before, but the structure becomes significantly complicated with the increase of diffusion chambers and resonance chambers. There are disadvantages such as high cost, large size, and large mounting space required, and further, exhaust resistance increases, resulting in deterioration of engine output, fuel consumption, and the like.

(Means for Solving the Problems) The exhaust noise reduction device for an engine according to the present invention was created to achieve the above-mentioned object. One end is connected to the downstream end of the exhaust pipe of the engine, and the middle part is connected. A base pipe member connected to the upstream end of the exhaust gas inlet pipe of the muffler, an annular pipe member connected to the other end of the base pipe member and formed in an annular shape, and a clockwise and counterclockwise direction from the other end of the base pipe member. It is characterized by comprising a sound absorbing material such as glass wool contained in an annular pipe member substantially equidistant with respect to the clockwise direction.

(Operation) According to the present invention, the sound wave that has flowed in the exhaust pipe along with the exhaust gas is immediately before entering the muffler, and one end of the base pipe member is connected to the downstream end of the exhaust pipe from the other end of the annular pipe member. At least a part of the vibration energy of the sound wave is lost due to the sound absorbing material being arranged and colliding at the central portion, and at the same time, vibration of sound waves of various frequencies is simultaneously generated. A part of the energy of the sound wave is also lost due to the positive and negative overlapping interference. Further, the sound absorbing material disposed at the collision part of the sound wave absorbs another part of the energy of the sound wave.

(Embodiment) An embodiment of the present invention will be specifically described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. Reference numeral 10 in the figure conceptually represents energy for a work vehicle such as a shovel loader, 12 is an exhaust manifold of the engine, 14 is an exhaust pipe connected to the exhaust manifold, and 16 is one end at the downstream end of the exhaust pipe 14. A base pipe member connected to and arranged to form an extension of the exhaust pipe, 18 is connected to the other end of the base pipe member 16 and is bent in an annular shape as shown in FIG. As described above, the annular pipe member 20 is formed substantially symmetrically, and the annular pipe member 20 is substantially equidistant from the other end of the base pipe member 16 in the clockwise direction indicated by arrow A and the counterclockwise direction indicated by arrow B. A sound absorbing material such as glass wool stored in a portion within 18, 22 is an exhaust gas inlet pipe of a muffler 24 connected to an intermediate portion between one end and the other end of the base member 16,
26 is an exhaust gas outlet pipe of the muffler, and 28 is a tail pipe connected to the outlet pipe 26.

According to the above configuration, the sound waves of various frequencies carried on the exhaust gas during the operation of the engine are mostly base pipe members forming the extension of the exhaust pipe 14 because of their straightness.
It flows into the annular pipe member 18 by being divided into two parts from 16 in the clockwise direction shown by arrow A and the counterclockwise direction shown by arrow B. The two separated sound waves collide with each other at the portions of the sound absorbing material 20 arranged at substantially equidistant parts, and a part of the sound wave energy is lost by the collision. Further, the waves of the sound waves having different frequencies overlap with each other in the positive and negative directions, so that another part of the sound wave energy is lost, and further, the sound absorbing material 20 absorbs a part of the sound wave energy. The rest of the sound wave that is not absorbed in the annular pipe member 18 enters the muffler 24 from the inlet pipe 22 together with the exhaust gas, is further attenuated in the muffler, and is diffused to the outside via the outlet pipe 26 and the tail pipe 28. It Therefore, the exhaust noise finally emitted from the tail pipe 28 is extremely effectively reduced without increasing the size and complexity of the muffler and without adversely affecting the engine performance. .

By interposing the annular pipe member 18 having the base pipe member 16 and the absorber 20 built therein as described above between the exhaust pipe 14 and the exhaust gas inlet pipe 22 of the muffler 24, the muffler 18 is small, lightweight and inexpensive. However, there is an advantage that a very low-priced product, for example, a large-scale production for a general vehicle such as a truck, can be appropriately used, and the manufacturing cost as a whole can be sufficiently reduced. Further, in the illustrated embodiment, the base pipe member 16 and the annular pipe member 18 are drawn so as to extend vertically downward, but the sound wave energy attenuation effect thereof depends on the arrangement direction such as horizontal direction, vertical upward direction, or oblique direction. Since it does not change at all, it can be freely placed in an empty space when it is mounted on a vehicle, and has an advantage of excellent mountability.

(Effect of the Invention) As described above, the exhaust noise reduction device for an engine according to the present invention has one end connected to the downstream end of the exhaust pipe of the engine and the middle part connected to the upstream end of the exhaust gas inlet pipe of the muffler. Base pipe member, an annular pipe member connected to the other end of the base pipe member and formed in an annular shape, and an annular pipe substantially equidistant from the other end of the base pipe member in the clockwise and counterclockwise directions. It is characterized by comprising a sound absorbing material such as glass wool contained in the member, and can effectively reduce the exhaust noise of the engine of the working vehicle to the engine or the like with a simple configuration, so that it is practically used. It is extremely beneficial.
