Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the substantial work efficiency of a stacker crane by providing a normal/reverse driven article storage conveyor at the center of an elevator base, and normal/reverse driven article transfer conveyors on slide forks disposed laterally on the elevator base. CONSTITUTION:Articles W to be taken out are pulled in an elevator base 12 by an article transfer conveyor 16 positioned close to an article storage shelf 2 for the articles W. The conveyor 16 and an article storage conveyor 14 are then driven to transfer the articles W onto the conveyor 14. Since the conveyor 16 positioned close to the storage shelf 2 for the taken-out articles can be thus used due to the lateral disposition of the conveyors 16, the lateral motion of a stacker crane 10 can be performed efficiently. When the conveyor 14 becomes full, the articles W are placed also on the right and left conveyors 16. The crane 10 is then conveyed to a carry-out station, and the articles W on the conveyor 16 close to the carry-out station are unloaded onto the carry-out station. The articles W on the conveyor 14 and the other conveyor 16 are successively transferred onto the empty conveyor 16 and unloaded successively onto the carry-out station.

(Disadvantages of the Prior Art) The conventional stacker crane for automated warehouses has the following disadvantages. In other words, since only one article can be placed on the lifting platform of the stacker crane, the stacker crane picks up 1 (!l) articles at the carry-in stage and places them on the article storage shelf of the rack. After storing the first item, it is necessary to repeat the process of moving it to the carry-in stage to pick it up, and also to transfer the goods taken out from the goods storage shelf to the carry-out stage. After that, in order to carry out the articles in the separate article storage shelves, it is necessary to move from the unloading station to the article storage shelves again, which is a drawback. In other words, the operating efficiency of the stacker crane is actually poor. There was a drawback.

However, Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 1-172,121--Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 59-2
It is provided so that it can freely protrude horizontally in either the front or rear direction using a known advance/retreat mechanism as disclosed in Japanese Patent No. 3°762. An article transfer conveyor 16 is provided on the upper surface of the slide fork 15 and can be driven in forward and reverse directions with the conveyance direction left and right. This article transfer conveyor 16 lifts and lowers the article W by protruding the article W downward by protruding the slide fork 15, lifting the article W by raising the lifting table 12, and retracting it to the lifting table 12 side. The article W can be pulled into the stand 12 and lowered onto the article storage shelf 2 or the like by performing the reverse operation to the above. Note that the conveyance surface of the article transfer conveyor 16 and the conveyance surface of the article storage conveyor 14 are flush with each other.

After the article W is drawn into the lifting platform 12 by the article transfer conveyor 6 (slide fork 15) which is closer to the article storage shelf 2 where the article W to be taken out is stored, the article transfer conveyor 6 and article storage conveyor 14 is driven to transfer the article W onto the article storage conveyor 14. Note that when a plurality of articles W can be placed on the article storage conveyor 14, this action is repeated until the article storage conveyor 14 is full of articles W. In this way, the article transfer conveyors 1.6 are located on the left and right. Therefore, the article transfer conveyor 16 closer to the article storage shelf 2 containing the article W to be taken out can be used, so that the stacker crane 10 can be moved laterally and efficiently. When the article storage conveyor 14 is full, articles W are also placed on the left and right article transfer conveyors 16. Thereafter, the stacker crane IO is transported to the unloading stage, where the articles W placed on the article transfer conveyor 16 closest to the unloading stage are first unloaded to the unloading station, and then the empty The articles W on the article storage conveyor 14 and the articles W on the other article transfer conveyor 6 are sequentially transferred one by one onto the transferred article transfer conveyor 16 and unloaded to the carry-out station.

Note that the articles W can be stored in the article storage shelf 2 from the carry-in stage through the reverse order.

■In the center of the lifting platform, there is an article storage conveyor that can be driven in forward and backward directions with the conveyance direction left and right.Since articles can be stored on this article storage conveyor, the left and right movement of the stacker crane is reduced compared to the conventional one. This can substantially increase the operating efficiency of the stacker crane.

■Located on the left and right sides of the goods storage conveyor,
Slide forks are provided on the left and right sides of the lifting platform so that they can move back and forth, and an article transfer conveyor that can be driven forward and backward with the conveyance direction left and right is installed on the top of these slide forks. Since it is possible to receive and transfer articles by using the article transfer conveyor that is closer to the transfer side, the practical operating efficiency of the stacker crane can be improved from this point as well.
