This invention relates to a so-called touch-type display panel in which the pressed part is colored. Specifically, it is a touch-type display panel that uses an electrochromic display (hereinafter sometimes abbreviated as ECD) element that reversibly colors and decolors by applying voltage.

Conventionally, the one shown in FIG. 2 is known as a touch-type display panel using an ECD element. That is, on a transparent substrate 14 such as a glass plate, a conductive layer 3 and an electrochromic layer (hereinafter referred to as
(sometimes abbreviated as EC layer) 4, electrolyte layer 5,
This structure includes a display substrate in which a counter electrode layer 6 and a conductive layer 7 are sequentially laminated, and a flexible electrode 13 separated by a space 11.

It was difficult to directly see the display caused by pressing.
Furthermore, in order to solve this problem, it is conceivable that the flexible electrode be made of a transparent material so that the display can be viewed from the touch input surface side. However, in such a touch-type display panel, the display of the ECD element is viewed through the flexible electrode 13 and the space 11, so the display clarity is low, and the surface of the electrode 13 is particularly prone to fine scratches. In this case, there was a problem in that the display became extremely unclear.

As a result of repeated research to solve this problem, the inventors of the present invention have found that a flexible film-like electrochromic display element and an electrode substrate having an electrode surface face each other across a space. Since the panel can be pressed from the flexible ECD film side, the display can be viewed directly from the touch input surface, and the present invention was completed after discovering that the clarity of the display can be significantly improved.

For example, thin films of oxide semiconductors such as indium oxide doped with tin oxide, tin oxide, zinc oxide, titanium oxide, cadmium oxide, and cadmium tin oxide, or thin films of gold, silver, etc. with a thickness of 500 mm or less can improve transparency. It is suitably used when applying. Further, when transparency is not required as in the case of the conductive layer 7, a film of copper, silver, etc. with a thickness exceeding 500 mm may be used, but the thickness of the film is preferably 1 μm or less. As a method for forming such a conductive layer, known methods such as sputtering, vacuum evaporation, ion plating, spray method, sol-gel method, and CVD method can be employed.

The most typical example of the electrochromic substance is amorphous tungsten oxide, but organic dyes, metal complexes, transition metal compounds, organic polymers, and the like may also be used as appropriate. The method for forming the EC layer is as follows:
For example, known methods such as vacuum evaporation, sputtering, ion plating, and plasma may be employed as appropriate. Another suitable method is to form a film by dissolving tungsten chloride in an organic solvent such as alcohol, and then hydrolyzing it in water or steam after or simultaneously with the removal of the organic solvent. be. The EC layer generally has a preferred thickness of 100 to 5 microns.

For example, examples include those in which an electrolyte substance is dispersed in a polymer, specifically those in which an electrolyte substance such as alkali perchlorate is dispersed in a polyalkylene oxide having a molecular weight of 1000 or more. Further, it is preferable to use a polymer having an ion exchange group, for example, an ion exchanger, as an electrolyte because the response speed and contrast ratio of the resulting ECD device are improved. とができる。 First, a transparent conductive layer is formed on a transparent flexible film by sputtering or the like using, for example, indium oxide doped with tin oxide. Next, an electrochromic layer is formed thereon by a method such as vacuum deposition or sputtering. At this time, in order to divide the electrochromic layer into multiple parts, before forming the electrochromic layer, apply a photoresist to the entire ITO surface and peel off the resist only on the parts where you want to form the electrochromic layer. In this state, an electrochromic layer is formed. After formation, the electrochromic layer can be divided into a plurality of pieces by peeling off unnecessary portions of the electrochromic layer along with the remaining resist. Next, an insulator is formed on the portion where the electrochromic layer is not formed by a method such as screen printing. Then, an electrolyte layer is formed on the electrochromic layer by a method such as screen printing, and a counter electrode layer is formed thereon by a method such as screen printing. Furthermore, by sequentially laminating conductive layers on the transparent flexible film by a method such as screen printing, it is possible to form an ECD element on the transparent flexible film and create a flexible display film.

Examples include glass plates, plastic plates, metal plates, etc., but they do not need to be particularly transparent. Further, the electrode surface 9 is formed on the electrode substrate 2, and the material thereof is not particularly limited as long as it has conductivity. Examples include metals such as copper, nickel, and aluminum. Examples of methods for forming the electrode surface include sputtering, plasma, vacuum deposition, and a method of laminating rolled copper. Note that if the electrode substrate 2 itself has conductivity, there is no need to separately form an electrode surface.

It also becomes more severe and its lifespan decreases. Therefore, the gap is preferably 5 to 1000 μm, preferably 10 to 300 μm.

The thickness of such a spacer may be determined according to the gap between the spaces 11, and the size and shape of the notch are not particularly limited, but it is generally determined according to the shape of the segment of the EC element. The material of the spacer 10 is not particularly limited as long as it has insulation properties. For example, rubber, plastic, ceramics, paper, etc. are commonly used.

This can be done by connecting both to a power source. In this case, if the conductive layer is divided into a plurality of segments, the conductive layer located in each segment may be directly connected to a power source,
The conductive layer may be electrically connected within the EC element to connect to a power source.

The touch-type display panel of the present invention consists of a flexible ECD film and an electrode substrate. That is,
By pressing the flexible ECD film 8 (touch input), the flexible ECD film 8 comes into contact with the electrode surface 9 of the electrode substrate 2, voltage is applied to the ECD element, and a reaction occurs in the EC layer 4. . The color development of the EC layer 4 caused by this reaction can be directly observed without going through the space 11 described above.
