However, under the harsh operating conditions in today's spinning mills, conventional spinning travelers lack abrasion resistance and wear out prematurely, making the traveler unstable and causing frequent yarn breakage and fuzz. This problem occurred frequently, causing the traveler to seize prematurely and scattering, and furthermore, the life of the ring was shortened.

For this reason, in order to improve the wear resistance of the traveler, it has been considered to apply chrome plating to the traveler, but although chrome plating has high hardness, it has poor compatibility with the ring, and the spinning force increases during the initial stage of spinning. There were disadvantages such as very high thread breakage, frequent cracking of the plating surface, and cracking of the plating surface, which caused exfoliation wear and abnormal wear of the traveler.

The treated layers of the titanium carbonitride layer 2 and the titanium nitride layer 3 can be applied to the entire surface of the traveler, but it is only necessary to provide them on at least the surface of the traveler that comes into contact with the ring. It can be applied to the area. Furthermore, when only wear resistance is particularly required, only a titanium carbonitride layer may be provided on the ring surface.

The traveler for a spinning machine according to the present invention has the above-mentioned structure, and as shown in FIG. 2, the traveler A for a spinning machine according to the present invention has a surface hardness of 1900 to 2500 Hv, which is much higher than the conventional traveler B for a spinning machine. The outermost titanium nitride layer has a slightly lower hardness than the titanium carbonitride layer, has a low coefficient of friction, is smooth, and fits well with the ring. Further, the treated layer and the base material are bonded by diffusion, and it is possible to obtain better adhesion than plating or physical vapor deposition.

Further, since the treated layer is treated at a medium temperature, coarsening of crystal grains of the base material and decarburization are prevented.

The traveler for a spinning machine of the present invention is made of hard steel wire or alloy steel wire, and a titanium carbonitride layer and a titanium nitride layer that have good adhesion to the base material are formed on at least the surface that contacts the ring. Therefore, it has excellent abrasion resistance, allows the traveler to run stably for a long period of time, is compatible with the ring, prevents frequent thread breakage, suppresses the occurrence of fuzz, and significantly extends the life of the traveler. . Also,
Since the titanium nitride layer contributes to improving the metal resistance, this invention has excellent effects such as being able to prevent the traveler from rusting even when used for spinning flame retardant fibers.
