Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve printing capacity and the duplication capacity of a plurality of stacked recording media by providing a vibration means which provides a platen with microamplitude and high speed vibration in an impact type printer for printing data using the impact force of types of wire. CONSTITUTION:The subject printer consists of an electrostrictive vibrator 26 of ferroelectric magnetism of barium titanate provided at one end of a platen 24 and a coil spring 27 for pressing the platen 24 to the electrostrictive vibrator 26 on the other end. The vibrator 26 acts like a piezoelectric element by application of a constant DC bias and an AC voltage overlaped to the former from a driving device 28. Thus the platen 24 is provided with specified amplitude and a high speed vibration. This amplitude is set to about 1/100 to 5/100mm and the vibration frequency is set to about 10 to 20 kHz. The impact force of the platen 24 is added to the impact force of printing wire or types by vibration of a recording medium on the platen 24. Subsequently, the media, and the medium and an ink ribbon slide to each other and thereby the duplication capability of stacked recording media 3 is improved.
