Description
This disclosure relates to an air guide structure and a vehicle.
Vehicles are equipped with an engine, which is a heat generating body, and a heat exchanger to cool the engine. Examples of heat exchangers include a radiator and an intercooler.
For example, a radiator has a core, an upstream tank, and a downstream tank. The core has multiple tubes and fins through which refrigerant flows from the upstream tank to the downstream tank.
Patent Document 1 discloses an air guide structure that prevents hot air from flowing from the engine side to the radiator. The air guide structure has a guide plate portion that is fixed to each of the upstream tank and the downstream tank, and an air guide that is fixed to the guide plate portion. The air guide extends from a position forward of the guide plate portion to a position rearward of the guide plate portion.
However, in a vehicle that has a pair of frames spaced apart from each other in the vehicle width direction and is equipped with a radiator that is placed in the space between the pair of frames, hot air that has been heated by passing through the radiator may flow back from a position toward the rear of the radiator to a position toward the front of the radiator through the gap between the radiator and the frame. In this case, there is a problem in that the temperature in front of the radiator increases due to the hot air that flows back.
The objective of this disclosure is to provide an air guide structure and vehicle that can prevent the temperature in front of the heat exchanger from rising.

As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the vehicle 1 has a pair of frames 2 that are spaced apart from each other in the vehicle width direction (X direction) and extend in the vehicle front-rear direction (Y direction). The frame 2 has a cross-sectional shape with both side walls 3, 4 and a groove bottom wall 5. The groove opening of the frame 2 arranged on one side in the vehicle width direction (+X direction) opens to the other side in the vehicle width direction (-X direction). The groove opening of the frame 2 arranged on the other side in the vehicle width direction (-X direction) opens to one side in the vehicle width direction (+X direction). The side wall 3 is provided along the XY plane. The side wall 4 is provided below the side wall 3 (-Z direction) and is provided along the XY plane. The groove bottom wall 5 is provided along the YZ plane.
In the space between the pair of frames 2, an engine 11, which is a heat generating body, a cooling fan 12, a radiator 13, a shroud 14, and an intercooler 15 are arranged. The radiator 13 and the intercooler 15 correspond to the "heat exchanger" of this disclosure.
The cooling fan 12 is disposed in the vehicle forward direction (-Y direction) of the engine 11. The cooling fan 12 rotates around the output shaft of the engine 11, blowing air in the vehicle forward direction (-Y direction) of the cooling fan 12 to the vehicle rear direction (+Y direction) of the cooling fan 12.
The radiator 13 is disposed in the vehicle front direction (-Y direction) of the cooling fan 12. The radiator 13 has a core 13a, an upstream tank 13b, and a downstream tank 13c. The core 13a has multiple tubes and fins through which the refrigerant flows from the upstream tank 13b to the downstream tank 13c. The upstream tank 13b is a refrigerant tank located upstream of the core 13a. The downstream tank 13c is a refrigerant tank located downstream of the core 13a.
The shroud 14 is disposed between the cooling fan 12 and the radiator 13. The shroud 14 is disposed so as to cover the space between the cooling fan 12 and the radiator 13 from the outside. The shroud 14 guides air in the vehicle rear direction (+Y direction) of the radiator 13 to the cooling fan 12 in the vehicle rear direction (+Y direction).

Fins 15d are disposed between each of the multiple tubes 15c. The intake air flows from the upstream tank 15a in a dispersed manner into each of the multiple tubes 15c, and then joins together at the downstream tank 15b. The intercooler 15 prevents a decrease in charging efficiency by cooling the intake air that is compressed and heated by the turbocharger (not shown) and sent to the engine 11.

The side plate 39 extends from the end of the front plate 37 on the other side in the vehicle width direction in the forward direction of the vehicle (-Y direction). Next, the operation of the air guide structure 20 in this embodiment will be described with reference to Figures 2, 3, 5, and 7. Figure 7 is a plan view of a vehicle equipped with the air guide structure in this embodiment. The flow of cool air CW is shown by a solid line in Figure 3. Also, the flow of cool air CW is shown by a solid line in Figures 5 and 7, and hot air HW is shown by a dashed line.
The cool air CW flows from a position on the radiator 13 that is in front of the vehicle (-Y direction) and below the vehicle (-Z direction) along the front plate 37 toward the top of the vehicle (+Z direction).
However, the hot air HW that is heated by passing through the radiator 13 may flow back from the rear of the radiator 13 (+Y direction) toward the front of the vehicle (-Y direction) through the gap between the radiator 13 and the frame 2 (gap in the vehicle width direction).
On the other hand, the cold air CW flows from the position of the radiator 13 in the vehicle front direction (-Y direction) and the vehicle bottom direction (-Z direction) toward one side in the vehicle width direction (+X direction) with respect to the vehicle top direction (+Z direction), along the end of the front plate 37 on one side in the vehicle width direction and/or the side plate 38, into the gap between the radiator 13 and the frame 2. Also, the cold air CW flows from the position of the radiator 13 in the vehicle front direction (-Y direction) and the vehicle bottom direction (-Z direction) toward the other side in the vehicle width direction (-X direction) with respect to the vehicle top direction (+Z direction), along the end of the front plate 37 on the other side in the vehicle width direction and/or the side plate 39, into the gap between the radiator 13 and the frame 2 (see Figures 2, 3, 5, and 7). This makes it possible for the cold air CW to suppress the backlash of the hot air HW. In addition, the cool air CW flows from a position in the vehicle front direction (-Y direction) and below the vehicle (-Z direction) of the radiator 13 along the front plate 37 toward the vehicle front of the radiator 13.
As described above, the cool air CW suppresses the backflow of the hot air HW, making it possible to prevent the temperature in front of the radiator from rising.
Next, the flow of the hot air HW and the cold air CW will be described with reference to Figures 8A to 9B. Each of Figures 8A to 9B shows a circular area CA located in the vehicle forward direction (-Y direction) and on the other side of the radiator in the vehicle width direction (-X direction). Note that in Figures 8A to 9B, areas with high brightness indicate that the temperature within the area is higher than areas with low brightness.
Figure 8A is a diagram showing the temperature distribution near the end of the radiator in the vehicle width direction when a vehicle in a comparative example is driven under specified conditions. The specified conditions are a specified rotation speed of the engine 11 and a specified speed of the vehicle 1. As shown in Figure 8A, part of the hot air HW is blown back to a position in the front direction of the vehicle and on the other side of the vehicle width direction of the radiator 13. The area CA shown in Figure 8A becomes hot. As the blown back hot air HW flows into the radiator 13, the temperature in front of the radiator 13 rises.
Figure 8B is a diagram showing the temperature distribution near the end of the radiator in the vehicle width direction when the vehicle in this embodiment is driven under specified conditions. As shown in Figure 8B, a part of the hot air HW may be blown back to a position in the vehicle front direction and on the other side of the radiator 13 in the vehicle width direction. The cold air CW flows from a position in the vehicle front direction (-Y direction) and below the vehicle (-Z direction) of the radiator 13 toward the other side in the vehicle width direction (-X direction) relative to the vehicle top direction (+Z direction), along the side plate 38, and into the gap between the radiator 13 and the frame 2. The cold air CW suppresses the blowing back of the hot air HW. The area CA shown in Figure 8B does not become hot. Since the hot air HW does not flow into the radiator 13, an increase in temperature in front of the radiator 13 is prevented.
Figure 9A is a diagram showing the temperature distribution near the end of the radiator in the vehicle width direction when the vehicle in the comparative example is operated under other conditions. The other conditions are the engine 11 rotation speed and vehicle 1 speed that are different from the specified conditions. As shown in Figure 9A, part of the hot air HW is blown back to a position in the front direction of the vehicle and on the other side of the vehicle width direction of the radiator 13. The area CA shown in Figure 9A becomes hot. As the blown back hot air HW flows into the radiator 13, the temperature in front of the radiator 13 rises.
Figure 9B is a diagram showing the temperature distribution near the end of the radiator in the vehicle width direction when the vehicle in this embodiment is driven under other conditions. As shown in Figure 9B, a part of the hot air HW may be blown back to a position in the vehicle front direction and on the other side of the vehicle width direction of the radiator 13. The cold air CW flows from a position in the vehicle front direction (-Y direction) and below the vehicle (-Z direction) of the radiator 13 toward the other side in the vehicle width direction (-X direction) relative to the vehicle top direction (+Z direction) and flows along the side plate 38 into the gap between the radiator 13 and the frame 2. The cold air CW suppresses the blowing back of the hot air HW. The area CA shown in Figure 8B does not become hot. Since the hot air HW does not flow into the radiator 13, an increase in temperature in front of the radiator 13 is prevented.
In the above embodiment, the air guide structure 20 is provided on a vehicle 1 that has a pair of frames 2 that are spaced apart from each other in the vehicle width direction (X direction) and extend in the vehicle front-rear direction (Y direction), and is equipped with a radiator 13 that is placed in the space between the pair of frames 2, and is provided with an air guide member 30 that guides airflow from a position below the radiator 13 (-Z) toward the gap between the radiator 13 and the frame 2.
According to the above configuration, when the hot air HW heated by passing through the radiator 13 flows back from a position toward the rear of the vehicle (+Y direction) of the radiator 13 through the gap (gap in the vehicle width direction) between the radiator 13 and the frame 2 toward the front of the vehicle (-Y direction), the air guide member 30 guides the airflow (cold air) from a position below the radiator 13 (-Z) toward the gap between the radiator 13 and the frame 2, so that the airflow (cold air) suppresses the hot air HW from flowing back, making it possible to prevent the temperature in front of the radiator 13 from rising.
In the above embodiment, the air guide member 30 is disposed in the vehicle front direction of the radiator 13 and in the vicinity of both ends of the radiator 13 in the vehicle width direction, facing the vehicle front direction, and has a pair of first flanges (flange portions 32, 33 and front plate 37) that extend from a position below the radiator 13 toward the gap between the radiator 13 and the frame 2, and a second flange (side plate 38, 39) that extends in the vehicle front direction from the end of the first flange (flange portions 32, 33 and front plate 37) that is farther from the radiator 13 of both ends in the vehicle width direction. As a result, the cold air CW flows from the position of the radiator 13 in the vehicle front direction (-Y direction) and vehicle bottom direction (-Z direction) along the first flange and the second flange into the gap between the radiator 13 and the frame 2. As a result, the cold air CW suppresses the wind HW from rolling back, making it possible to prevent the temperature in front of the radiator 13 from rising.
The above embodiment further includes a third flange (the center of the front plate 37) that connects the pair of first flanges, and the third flange faces toward the front of the vehicle and extends downward from the position of the end of the radiator 13 that is downward. This allows the cool air CW to flow from a position of the radiator 13 that is forward of the vehicle (-Y direction) and downward of the vehicle (-Z direction) along the front plate 37 toward the upper side of the vehicle (+Z direction).
In the above embodiment, the heat exchanger has a radiator 13 and an intercooler 15 arranged in the vehicle forward direction, and the first flange (flange portions 32, 33 and front plate 37) is located in the vehicle forward direction of the radiator 13 and is located near both side ends of the radiator 13 in the vehicle width direction, facing the vehicle forward direction, and extends from a position below the radiator 13 toward the gap between the radiator 13 and the frame, and the second flange (side plates 38, 39) extends in the vehicle forward direction from the end of the first flange that is farther from the radiator 13 and is arranged opposite each of the both side ends of the intercooler 15 in the vehicle width direction with a gap on each side of the vehicle width direction. The cold air CW flows through the gap and into each of the both side ends of the intercooler 15 in the vehicle width direction. As a result, the cold air CW that flows in suppresses the hot air HW from rolling back, making it possible to prevent the temperature in front of the radiator 13 from rising.
The air guide structure according to this embodiment is applied to the radiator 13 to prevent a rise in temperature in front of the radiator 13, but it may also be applied to the intercooler 15 to prevent a rise in temperature in front of the intercooler 15.
