Description
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus, management server, and program.
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, there has been known an image forming apparatus that forms an image on a sheet of paper by transferring the toner image from an image bearing member such as a photoreceptor or a transfer belt on which a toner image is formed and fixing the toner image onto the sheet of paper. .
The toner image is transferred to the paper by applying a transfer bias having a polarity opposite to that of the toner to the paper and electrostatically transferring the toner image from the image carrier to the paper. The paper onto which the toner image has been transferred is conveyed to a fixing device, and the toner image is fixed on the paper by the fixing device.
In such an image forming apparatus, in order to remove toner remaining on the image carrier after the toner image has been transferred to the paper, an image carrier is provided downstream in the rotation direction of the image carrier with respect to the transfer position to the paper. A technique is known in which a cleaning brush is provided in contact with the body, and a cleaning bias is applied to the brush to electrostatically clean residual toner on the image carrier (see, for example,
In the above technique, the cleaning brush has a configuration in which the pile of the brush bites into the image carrier to be cleaned to form a cleaning nip. Since the cleaning brush rotates while being in contact with the image carrier, the pile of the brush is gradually deformed by the external force received during rotation, and the outer diameter of the brush gradually decreases with use.
As the outer diameter of the cleaning brush becomes smaller, the width of the cleaning nip becomes shorter and the amount of bite into the brush becomes smaller. As a result, the surface area of the pile used for cleaning becomes smaller, and the amount of toner adhering to the pile per unit area increases.
Further, when the cleaning nip width is shortened, the current per unit area flowing through the cleaning nip increases (the current density increases), so that the voltage difference between the brush and the image carrier increases, making it easier to discharge. When the discharge occurs, the toner is reversely charged, and the bias cleaning of the toner becomes impossible, resulting in defective cleaning.
When such a cleaning failure (that is, an image failure) occurs, waste paper is generated and the cleaning brush needs to be replaced, which causes downtime of the apparatus until the replacement is completed. For this reason, there has been a demand to detect in advance the degree of deterioration in cleaning performance due to deterioration of the cleaning brush over time.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to enable detection of the degree of deterioration of cleaning performance due to aging deterioration of a cleaning brush in an image forming apparatus.

In addition to the above-described exposure process, the

Here, in the processing of steps S107 and S108, the bias current value is fixed and the density of the patch image is increased (FIG. 7), and the density of the patch formed portion after cleaning is determined by a predetermined threshold value. is found as the performance limit of the cleaning brush 51 (FIG. 8).

The point at which the threshold is exceeded is found as the limiting value of the cleaning brush 51 (FIG. 12).

In this embodiment, as described above, the case where the cleaning bias current value is fixed and the case where the patch density is fixed are explained in detail. Both current values may be gradually increased to find the limit value.

[Method of Managing Image Forming Apparatus by Management System]
The
Details of the maintenance timing management process will be described below.
FIG. 17 is a flowchart showing maintenance timing management processing.
First, upon receiving an image formation request (print request) from the
Note that in step S301, it is also preferable to select the
If it is not time to execute the time limit information calculation process (step S304: NO), the
On the other hand, if it is time to execute the deadline information calculation process (step S304: YES), the
Next, the
On the other hand, if the value of the deadline information is smaller than the first threshold (step S308: YES), the
Next, the
On the other hand, if the value of the expiration information is smaller than the second threshold (step S311: YES), the
In addition, the
Next, the

On the other hand, if there is a device whose maintenance time is near (step S315: YES), the component whose maintenance time is near is extracted from the components of that device (step S316).
Next, the
According to the process of FIG. 17, in step S301, the
As described above, according to the present embodiment, the
Therefore, it is possible to specify the remaining period of time during which the cleaning
Therefore, it is possible to detect the degree of deterioration of cleaning performance before cleaning failure (that is, image failure) occurs. can be done.
Further, according to the present embodiment,
Therefore, it is possible to specify a more accurate deadline according to the degree of deterioration of the cleaning
Further, according to the present embodiment,
Therefore, it is possible to grasp the remaining period during which the cleaning
Further, according to the present embodiment, the
Therefore, the cleaning
Further, according to the present embodiment, the
Therefore, more accurate concentration measurement by the
Further, according to the present embodiment, the
Therefore, the density of the patch image can be used to set a limit value indicating the performance limit of the cleaning
Further, according to the present embodiment, the
Therefore, the value of the cleaning bias applied to the cleaning
Further, according to the present embodiment, the
Therefore, the density of the patch image and the value of the cleaning bias applied to the cleaning
Further, according to the present embodiment, the
For this reason, the expiration date of the
Further, according to the present embodiment, the
Therefore, the cleaning performance is improved during image formation, and the processing can be executed more accurately during the expiration information calculation processing.
Further, according to the present embodiment, the
Therefore, it is possible to prevent an image defect from occurring due to the image forming process being executed by the
Further, according to the present embodiment, the
For this reason, the remaining usable periods of the plurality of
