Description
The present invention relates to a continuous inspection method and a continuous inspection apparatus for an optical display panel, and a continuous manufacturing method and a continuous manufacturing system for an optical display panel.
The inspection method of Patent Document 1 irradiates line-shaped light perpendicular to one side of the liquid crystal display panel and parallel to the width direction of the transport device, and irradiates the other side of the liquid crystal display panel with the panel transport direction and the irradiation direction. It discloses that a region irradiated with line-shaped light is imaged by two image pickup units symmetrically arranged at positions inclined at a predetermined angle in the opposite direction.
The inspection method of Patent Document 1 is provided with two image pickup units that image the inspection area from two different angles, and one of the two image pickup units is not strongly scattered on the downstream side in the transport direction with respect to the irradiation direction. Foreign matter that is strongly scattered on the upstream side is detected, and foreign matter that is strongly scattered on the downstream side without being strongly scattered on the upstream side is detected on the other side. That is, there is a defect (foreign matter) that can be detected only by the first image pickup unit on the upstream side in the transport direction and a defect (foreign matter) that can be detected only by the second image pickup unit on the downstream side in the transport direction. I had to do it.
However, the equipment cost increases by arranging a plurality of image pickup units. In addition, the time for adjusting the optical axis of the image pickup unit also increases in proportion to the number of units. The capacity of the storage medium required for long-term storage of captured image data also increases in proportion to the number of units.
Further, in the inspection method of Patent Document 1, two image data acquired by two image pickup units are image-processed, and a single defect information is created by combining the defect positions and coordinates obtained from the respective image data. There is a need to.
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a continuous inspection method for an optical display panel and a continuous inspection device thereof that can detect defects with the same or higher accuracy even if the number of image pickup units is reduced as compared with the conventional case. ..
Another purpose is a continuous production system for optical display panels and an optical display panel that can continuously produce high-quality optical display panels at high speed by optically inspecting the optical display panels with high accuracy while transporting them at high speed. It is to provide a continuous manufacturing method.

It also includes an imaging step of continuously imaging.
In the above invention, in the imaging step, the line inspection region may be imaged from the other surface of the optical display panel with a slit portion in which an imaging region corresponding to the line inspection region is defined.
In the above invention, the image pickup unit may be arranged in the direction perpendicular to the other surface of the optical display panel.
In the above invention, in the first irradiation step and the second irradiation step, the first angle (θ 1 ) and the second angle (θ 2 ) have the same value, and the irradiation direction of the first line-shaped light and the said. The irradiation direction of the second line-shaped light may be symmetrical.
In the above invention, when the optical film is continuously optically inspected while being conveyed on an optical display panel provided on one side, it corresponds to the optical axis of the optical functional film included in the optical film. An inspection filter having an optical axis is placed between the first and second irradiation units and the one imaging unit, and at a predetermined distance from the other surface different from one surface of the optical display panel on which the optical film is provided. Is provided and arranged, and imaging is performed.
The "predetermined distance" needs to be, for example, a distance that does not come into contact with the surface of the optical display panel, and can be set in consideration of the arrangement relationship of the panel transport unit, the illumination unit, and the image pickup unit.
When the optical functional film has a polarizing film, the inspection filter has a polarizing film, and the inspection filter is arranged so that the absorption axes of each of the optical functional films are orthogonal to each other.
Further, the inspection filter may be fixedly arranged or may be configured to be movable according to the transport state of the optical display panel.

Another invention is a continuous inspection device for an optical display panel in which an optical film having at least an optical functional film is continuously optically inspected while being conveyed on an optical display panel provided on both sides or one side. ,
The first line-shaped light parallel to the width direction of the optical display panel, which is orthogonal to the transport direction (d1) of the optical display panel, is emitted from perpendicular to one surface of the optical display panel. The line inspection region irradiated with the first line-shaped light and the second line-shaped light is continuously imaged in a line shape parallel to the width direction of the optical display panel from the other surface of the optical display panel. It has one imaging unit and.
In the above invention, the slit portion may be further provided on the other side of the optical display panel and in which the imaging region corresponding to the line inspection region is defined.
The image pickup unit may be imaged with the slit portion interposed therebetween.
In the present invention, the "one imaging unit" may be a monocular imaging unit or a compound eye imaging unit. Even if it is composed of a line sensor camera arranged in a line shape and a plurality of monocular cameras arranged in a straight line (one row) corresponding to a predetermined line-shaped imaging region (a constant region parallel to the film width direction). good.
In the above invention, the image pickup unit may be arranged in the direction perpendicular to the other surface of the optical display panel.
In the above invention, the first angle (θ 1 ) and the second angle (θ 2 ) have the same value, and the irradiation direction of the first line-shaped light and the irradiation direction of the second line-shaped light are symmetrical. The first irradiation unit and the second irradiation unit may be arranged as described above.

In the above invention, when the optical film is continuously optically inspected while being conveyed on an optical display panel provided on one side, the first and second irradiation units and the first image pickup unit are used. A predetermined distance is provided between one surface of the optical display panel on which the optical film is provided and the other surface different from the other surface, and the optical axis of the optical functional film included in the optical film has a predetermined arrangement relationship. It also has an inspection filter provided as described above.
When the illumination unit, the optical display panel provided with the optical film on the illumination unit side, and the image pickup unit are arranged in this order, the inspection filter is arranged between the optical display panel and the image pickup unit. When the slit portion is arranged between the optical display panel and the image pickup unit, the inspection filter may be arranged between the image pickup unit and the slit portion, or between the optical display panel and the slit portion.
When the illumination unit, the optical display panel provided with the optical film on the image pickup unit side, and the image pickup unit are arranged in this order, the inspection filter is arranged between the illumination unit and the optical display panel, and the illumination light is for inspection. The light that has passed through the filter is configured to enter the inspection area.
According to the present invention, it is possible to reduce the number of image pickup units while ensuring inspection capability with a simple configuration in which only two illumination processes and one image pickup process are performed.
Further, processing the image data obtained from a single image pickup unit has a defect that can be detected only by the image pickup unit on the upstream side in the transport direction and a defect that can be detected only by the image pickup unit on the downstream side in the transport direction. Can be judged with. It is not necessary to process each of the two image data acquired by the two image pickup units to create a single defect information as in the conventional case, and the work and complexity for that can be reduced.
Further, in the present invention, the slit portion arranged on the other side of the optical display panel is the distance from the other surface of the optical display panel to the slit portion (D) rather than the distance from the image pickup portion to the slit portion (D 2 ). It is preferable to arrange the slit portion so that 1 ) becomes smaller (D 1 <D 2 ).
It is preferable to arrange the slit portion in the vicinity of the optical display panel (for example, within 150 mm, preferably within 100 mm, more preferably within 30 mm after D 1 exceeds 0 mm) rather than in the vicinity of the image pickup unit.
By arranging the slit portion in the vicinity of the optical display panel, when the optical display panel enters or deviates from the imaging field of view of the imaging unit, it is affected by stray light (or reflected light) from the edge portion of the optical display panel. It is possible to prevent the inspection from becoming impossible. Further, if the slit portion is arranged in the vicinity of the imaging unit, the amount of light received by the imaging unit itself is reduced or restricted, which is not preferable.

In the manufacturing process and manufacturing apparatus of the above invention
The optical sheet-shaped first optical film obtained by cutting the first long optical film while feeding out the first long release film and the first long optical film from the first optical film roll is conveyed. Attaching to the first surface of the cell, or attaching a sheet-fed first optical film to the first surface of the optical cell,
And / or the sheet-fed second optical film obtained by cutting the second long optical film while feeding out the second long release film and the second long optical film from the second optical film roll. A second optical film that is attached to or has a single-wafer shape on the second surface of the optical cell to be conveyed so that the optical axis of the optical film and the optical axis of the second optical film are arranged at a predetermined angle. May be attached to the second surface of the optical cell so that the optical axis of the single-wafer-shaped first optical film and the optical axis of the single-wafer-shaped second optical film are arranged at a predetermined angle.
According to this configuration, while transporting the optical display panel, the optical display panel is irradiated with two types of line-shaped light (L1, L2) inclined at a predetermined angle, and transmitted light (transmitted light) transmitted through the optical display panel (L1 and L2). By imaging P) in a line and continuously with a single image pickup unit, foreign matter mixed between the optical cell and the optical film over the entire surface of the optical display panel while transporting the optical display panel at high speed. Can be imaged with clear contrast. That is, since the optical display panel can be inspected with high accuracy while being conveyed at high speed, it is possible to continuously produce high-quality optical display panels at high speed.
In this inspection, not only foreign matter (for example, bonded bubbles, cullet, lint, dust, dust, etc.) mixed between the optical cell and the optical film, but also dirt and the like can be detected with high accuracy.
The irradiation directions of the first and second line-shaped lights by the first and second irradiation units are inclined from the vertical to a predetermined angle with respect to the optical display panel, respectively, so that the light is conveyed with respect to the irradiation direction of one of the line-shaped lights. Further, from the viewpoint of inspecting the optical display panel with high accuracy, the first angle (θ 1 ) is 1 ° to 60 °, preferably 5 ° to 45 °, and more preferably 10 ° to 30 ° from the vertical. .. The second angle (θ 2 ) is 1 ° to 60 °, preferably 5 ° to 45 °, and more preferably 10 ° to 30 ° from the vertical.
In the present invention, the "optical film roll" is formed into a roll by laminating a long release film and a long optical film (adhesive layer, optical functional film and surface protective film) in this order. There is.
The "roll-to-panel method" cuts the release film and the long optical film unwound from the optical film roll in the width direction while leaving the release film and the adhesive layer, the optical functional film, and the surface protective film. This is a method in which a long release film is peeled off from a sheet-fed optical film obtained by half-cutting), and the sheet-fed optical film is attached to an optical cell via an exposed pressure-sensitive adhesive layer.
On the other hand, there is a "sheet-to-panel method" as an optical film bonding method different from the roll-to-panel method. In the "sheet-to-panel method", a sheet-fed optical film that has been preliminarily made into a single-wafered state is peeled off from a single-leafed release film or a long release film to be exposed via an adhesive layer. This is a method of bonding to an optical cell.
The "cut optical film roll" is a roll formed by laminating a sheet-fed optical film (adhesive layer, optical functional film and surface protective film) on a long detachable film. ..
Hereinafter, the continuous manufacturing system and the continuous manufacturing method of the optical display panel will be described in more detail with reference to FIG. 1, but the present invention is not limited to the embodiment of the present embodiment.

(Optical film roll)
The optical film roll formed by winding a long polarizing film includes, for example, (1) a release film and a long polarizing film including an adhesive layer formed on the release film, in a continuous web form. An example is a long optical film laminate wound in a roll shape. In this case, the continuous manufacturing system of the liquid crystal display panel uses a long polarizing film (including an adhesive layer) while leaving a release film in order to form a sheet-fed polarizing film (sheet piece) from the long polarizing film. It has a cutting device that cuts (half-cuts) (inserts a cut line) in a direction orthogonal to the feed direction of the release film at predetermined intervals.
Further, as an optical film roll, for example, (2) a single-wafer-shaped polarizing film (adhesive layer) adjacent to each other via a cut line in a direction orthogonal to the feeding direction of the release film and the release film. (Including), and a long optical film laminate having a roll (so-called notched polarizing film roll) can be mentioned.

Further, in the present embodiment, the configuration in which the optical film is attached to both sides of the optical cell is exemplified, but the optical film may be attached to one side of the optical cell, and then the continuous inspection of the present invention may be executed. FIGS. 7A and 7B exemplify a configuration in which a polarizing film is attached to one side of a liquid crystal cell and then inspected.

Further, in the present embodiment, the configuration in which the optical film is attached to both sides of the optical cell by the so-called "roll-to-panel method" is illustrated, but the present invention is not limited to this, and the optical cell is limited to the "sheet-to-panel method". The optical cell may be attached to both sides of the optical cell, or an optical film may be attached to one side of the optical cell by a "roll-to-panel method" and the other side by a "sheet-to-panel method".
Further, in the present embodiment, an optical film roll is used, but the structure of the roll-shaped optical film is not limited to this, and a so-called “cut optical film roll” may be used.
Further, in the present embodiment, the long polarizing film unwound from the optical film roll is cut at predetermined intervals, but the present invention is not particularly limited to this configuration. For example, a long polarizing film unwound from an optical film roll may be inspected for defects and cut (so-called skip cut) based on the inspection results so as to avoid the defects. Further, the defect information or the mark attached to the defect position may be read in advance on the long polarizing film and cut so as to avoid the defect based on the defect information or the mark.
Further, in the present embodiment, the long polarizing film has an absorption axis parallel to the longitudinal direction, but the absorption axis direction of the long polarizing film is not limited to this. For example, the first long polarizing film may have an absorption axis parallel to its lateral direction (width direction), and the second long polarizing film may have an absorption axis parallel to its longitudinal direction. In this case, the swivel mechanism for horizontally rotating the liquid crystal cell to which the first polarizing film is attached can be omitted as appropriate.
Further, in the present embodiment, the liquid crystal cell is exemplified as the optical cell, but the present invention is not limited to this, and the optical cell may be an organic EL cell.
The organic EL cell has a configuration in which an electroluminescent layer is sandwiched between a pair of electrodes. As the organic EL cell, for example, any type such as a top emission method, a bottom emission method, and a double emission method can be used. The organic EL display panel has a polarizing film bonded to one side or both sides of the organic EL cell, and a drive circuit is incorporated as needed.

In the reference example, the light irradiation unit was arranged in the direction perpendicular to the liquid crystal display panel, and the image pickup unit was arranged at an angle of 30 ° with respect to the irradiation direction of the line-shaped light.
The inspection was carried out while transporting 200 liquid crystal display panels (n = 200) whose defects were found in advance. The number of defective liquid crystal display panels that were overlooked was 0 in both the examples and the reference examples, but 15 in the comparative example. From this, it was confirmed that defects can be detected with the same or higher accuracy even if the number of image pickup units is reduced as compared with the conventional case.
