Description
The present invention relates to a fuel cell system.
Alloy steel (stainless steel) containing chromium (Cr) is generally used for the equipment, members, and the like constituting the solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) system. In SOFCs that normally operate at a temperature of 600 ° C. or higher, Cr (VI) oxides may be formed when stainless steel containing chromium is exposed to high temperatures. The oxide of Cr (VI) is generated, for example, in a pipe connected to the air electrode of SOFC, is carried to the air electrode together with a gas containing oxygen, and reacts with strontium (Sr) or the like doped in the material of the air electrode. Then, it precipitates as strontium chromate (SrCrO 4 ) or the like. That is, the electrode material is gradually poisoned with chromium. When the toxic compound increases in the air electrode due to precipitation, the electrical resistance of the air electrode increases and the electrode performance deteriorates. Further, the generated Cr (VI) oxide is reduced to a Cr (III) compound at the air electrode and accumulated at the three-phase interface of the air electrode. Since the three-phase interface of the air electrode is the active field of the electrode reaction in which the reduction reaction in which oxygen molecules are ionized to become oxide ions (O 2- ) occurs, when the compound of Cr (III) accumulates, the electrode reaction The active field is deactivated and the power generation characteristics are reduced.
The following methods have been reported as methods for solving the problem of chromium poisoning that causes deterioration of SOFC performance as described above.
For example, in Patent Document 1, in a fuel cell facility, by providing a chromium trap in the oxidation gas supply system on the downstream side of the preheater, the chromium vapor contained in the oxidized gas after preheating can be captured and the cell stack can be used. Methods for controlling chromium poisoning have been disclosed.
Patent Document 2 discloses a method of suppressing chromium poisoning of a catalyst by using a ceramic having a perovskite structure having a specific composition as a material of an air electrode.
As a method for solving the problem of chromium poisoning, a simple and inexpensive method is desirable.
In this regard, in the method described in Patent Document 1, the chromium vapor in the oxidation gas is separated at the most downstream of the oxidation gas supply system (that is, before the cell stack) and then trapped by applying an electric field. The SOFC system and structure become complicated. Further, selecting a material having a specific composition as the material of the air electrode as in the method described in Patent Document 2 has a large restriction on the material, which leads to restrictions on usage conditions and high cost. Not preferable.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a fuel cell system capable of suppressing deterioration of battery performance and durability due to poisoning elements easily and inexpensively. And.
Specific means for solving the above problems include the following forms.
<1> A solid oxide fuel cell including a fuel electrode, an air electrode, and a solid oxide electrolyte arranged between the fuel electrode and the air electrode, and the air of the solid oxide fuel cell. Toxic elements in the oxygen-containing gas arranged between the solid oxide fuel cell and the heating means and heated by the heating means and the heating means for heating the oxygen-containing gas supplied to the pole. A fuel cell system including a means for removing toxic elements by adsorption and removal.
In the fuel cell system according to the present embodiment, toxic elements in the oxide gas heated by the heating means are adsorbed and removed between the fuel cell and the heating means for heating the oxidation gas supplied to the air electrode of the fuel cell. Toxic element removing means is arranged. According to the fuel cell system according to this embodiment, an element (subject) that poisons the air electrode, which is generated by circulating a heated oxygen-containing gas (hereinafter, also referred to as “oxygen-containing gas”) through a pipe or the like. Since the gas containing the toxic element) is sent to the toxic element removing means, the toxic element in the oxygen-containing gas is removed before being supplied to the air electrode.
Therefore, in the fuel cell system according to the present embodiment, in order to prevent the gas containing the poisoning element from being supplied to the air electrode, all the devices and members that come into contact with the heated oxidation gas are not necessarily poisoned elements. It is simpler than the conventional method because it is not necessary to change to a material that does not contain the air electrode, or to change the material of the air electrode to a specific material that is less likely to be poisoned in order to suppress the poisoning of the air electrode. At low cost, it is possible to suppress deterioration of battery performance and durability due to poisoning elements. Further, since the poisoning element removing means in the fuel cell system according to the present embodiment is removal by adsorption, a complicated device is not required, and the deterioration of battery performance and durability due to the poisoning element is suppressed easily and inexpensively. can do.
<2> The fuel cell system according to <1>, wherein the poisoning element is at least one element selected from the group consisting of chromium, sulfur, and boron.
In the fuel cell system according to the present embodiment, at least one element selected from the group consisting of chromium, sulfur, and boron is adsorbed and removed by the poisoning element removing means as the poisoning element. Chromium, sulfur, and boron are all elements that can poison the air electrode.
Generally, stainless steel containing chromium is used for members such as pipes through which heated oxide gas flows. When this stainless steel is exposed to a high temperature, oxides of Cr (VI) such as chromium trioxide (CrO 3 ) and chromic acid (H 2 CrO 4) may be formed. The generated Cr (VI) oxide is carried to the air electrode together with the oxidizing gas and reacts with strontium (Sr), calcium (Ca), etc. doped in the material of the air electrode, and strontium chromate (SrCrO 4 ). , Calcium chromate (CaCrO 4 ) and the like. When these compounds are deposited and increased at the air electrode, the electrical resistance of the air electrode increases and the electrode performance deteriorates. Further, the generated Cr (VI) oxide is reduced to a Cr (III) compound such as chromium oxide (Cr 2 O 3 ) at the air electrode and accumulated at the three-phase interface of the air electrode. The three-phase interface of the air electrode is the active field of the electrode reaction in which the reduction reaction in which oxygen molecules are ionized to become oxide ions (O 2- ) occurs, and the active field of the electrode reaction when the compound of Cr (III) accumulates. Is deactivated and the power generation characteristics deteriorate.
Further, sulfur derived from impurities contained in the air and boron derived from materials such as equipment and members constituting the system may deteriorate the catalyst of the air electrode.
In the fuel cell system according to the present embodiment, since these poisoning elements are removed by the poisoning element removing means in front of the air electrode, deterioration of battery performance and durability is effectively suppressed.
Further, since boron is removed in front of the air electrode, it becomes possible to use a crystallized glass containing boron as a glass used for joining pipes through which heated oxidation gas flows. Moreover, since sulfur is removed in front of the air electrode, it is not necessary to install a special filter to prevent sulfur from being mixed into the oxidizing gas.
<3> The fuel cell system according to <1> or <2>, wherein the poisoning element removing means includes an adsorbent that adsorbs the poisoning element.
<4> The fuel cell system according to <3>, wherein the shape of the adsorbent is at least one shape selected from the group consisting of a spherical shape, a columnar shape, a fibrous shape, and a crushed shape.
In the fuel cell system according to the present embodiment, the poisoning element removing means includes an adsorbent that adsorbs the poisoning element. Therefore, by selecting the composition, material, shape, size, pore diameter, etc. of the adsorbent, it is possible to design the toxic element removing means according to the purpose, and the degree of freedom is high. The shape of the adsorbent is generally at least one selected from the group consisting of spherical, columnar, fibrous, and crushed.
<5> The toxic element removing means is arranged at least on the adsorbent for adsorbing the toxic element, a container for accommodating the adsorbent, and at least downstream of the container in the gas flow direction, and scatters the adsorbent. The fuel cell system according to <4>, comprising a filter to prevent.
In the fuel cell system according to the present embodiment, the poisoning element removing means is provided with a filter for preventing the adsorbent from scattering at least on the downstream side in the gas flow direction of the container containing the adsorbent, so that the oxygen-containing gas flows. It is possible to prevent the adsorbent from scattering due to the above.
<6> The fuel cell system according to any one of <3> to <5>, wherein the adsorbent is the same as the material of the air electrode.

In the fuel cell system according to the present embodiment, it is preferable that the adsorbent is the same as the material of the air electrode. Further, in the fuel cell system according to the present embodiment, it is more preferable that the adsorbent is a perovskite type oxide. Perovskite-type oxides are materials commonly used as materials for air electrodes. According to these aspects, the toxic element removing means can be manufactured at a lower cost.

The oxygen-containing gas supplied to the cathode of the
The
Therefore, in the fuel cell system 1 according to the present embodiment, the mixing of poisonous elements into the cathode can be suppressed, and the deterioration of battery performance and durability can be suppressed.
From the viewpoint of reducing the possibility of the toxic element being mixed in the circulating gas after the toxic element is removed by the
From the viewpoint of reducing the cost, the material of the
Next, the poisonous element remover 18 in the fuel cell system according to the present embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
The detoxifying element remover 18 shown in FIG. 2 includes a

It is preferable that the adsorbent 50 has high reactivity with the toxic element, is stable at a high temperature of around 600 ° C., and does not release the adsorbed toxic element. Examples of such an adsorbent include A 1-x B x C 1-y D y O 3-z [A: lanthanum (La), B: strontium (Sr) or calcium (Ca), C: cobalt ( Examples thereof include perovskite-type oxides represented by [Co), D: and iron (Fe)]. Perovskite-type oxides can selectively adsorb specific toxic elements depending on their composition. For example, a perovskite-type oxide containing lanthanum, samarium (Sm), strontium, cobalt, iron and the like as constituent elements can adsorb chromium, sulfur, and boron.
In addition, as an adsorbent capable of adsorbing chromium, sulfur, and boron, an adsorbent using the same material as the material of the cathode of the
The adsorbent 50 is preferably the same as the material of the cathode of the
The shape of the adsorbent 50 is not particularly limited, and examples thereof include spherical, columnar, fibrous, and crushed shapes that are difficult to scatter. Among these, the shape of the adsorbent 50 is preferably pulverized from the viewpoint that the contact area with the gas containing the toxic element is large and pressure loss is unlikely to occur. For example, when a perovskite-type oxide is used as the adsorbent 50, the pellet formability by pressure is good. Adsorbent can be obtained.
The adsorbent 50 may have a honeycomb structure. When the adsorbent 50 has a honeycomb structure, the contact area with the gas containing the poisoning element becomes large, so that the adsorption efficiency of the poisoning element increases. In addition, pressure loss is unlikely to occur.
The size of the adsorbent 50 is not particularly limited, and may be appropriately set in consideration of pressure loss, scattering from the

The
The

In the above embodiment, the case where the fuel cell system includes one fuel cell stack has been described, but the present invention is not limited to this, and the present invention is also applied to the case where the fuel cell system includes a plurality of fuel cell stacks. be able to. When the air supply paths of the plurality of fuel cell stacks are connected in series, for example, each of the plurality of fuel cell stacks may be provided with a toxic element remover on the upstream side in the gas flow direction. Of the plurality of fuel cell stacks, the toxic element remover may be provided only on the upstream side in the gas flow direction of the fuel cell stack arranged at the uppermost stream in the gas flow direction.
