Description
外装体が第1外装体と第2外装体とを有して成り、第1外装体および第2外装体との組合せから外装体の封止縁が構成され、
封止縁では、第1外装体の端面と第2外装体の端面とが互いに対向するように第1外装体および第2外装体のいずれか一方が折り返されており、
その折り返された一方の外装体端面と、他方の外装体端面との間に絶縁材が設けられている、二次電池が提供される。
本明細書でいう「二次電池」とは、充電および放電の繰り返しが可能な電池のことを指している。従って、本発明に係る二次電池は、その名称に過度に拘泥されるものでなく、例えば蓄電デバイスなども対象に含まれ得る。
本発明の二次電池は、その外装体に特徴を有している。本発明において、電極組立体を収容する外装体の封止縁は、当該外装体を成す第1外装体と第2外装体との組合せから成るところ、特異な折り返し形態と、その特異な折返しにとって好適な部材とを少なくとも備えている。
・アルミ箔層αの突き合せ部12b,13dではレーザ溶接により外装フィルムのナイロン層γが揮発する。よって、アルミ箔層が露出し、外装体の絶縁性が損なわれる。
・金属部をレーザ接合するので、ナイロン層のみならず、樹脂層も実際には熱影響を受ける。それゆえ実際の電池においては信頼性が損なわれる。
・そもそも接合にレーザを用いること自体がコスト高であり、現実的でない。
換言していえば、本発明における外装体の封止縁(特に、2つのサブ外装体のうち一方が折り返されて成る封止縁)ではレーザ溶接部なる箇所は存在していない。

Claims (12)
- 電極組立体、および、該電極組立体を収納する外装体を有して成る二次電池であって、
前記外装体の封止縁は、該外装体を成す第1外装体と第2外装体との組合せから構成され、
前記封止縁では、前記第1外装体の端面と前記第2外装体の端面とが互いに対向するように該第1外装体および該第2外装体のいずれか一方が折り返されており、
前記折り返された前記一方の前記端面と、他方の前記端面との間に絶縁材が設けられており、
前記第1外装体および前記第2外装体の各々は、金属層および絶縁層を含んだ積層構造を有しており、
前記絶縁層には第1絶縁層および第2絶縁層が含まれ、該第1絶縁層と該第2絶縁層との間に前記金属層が介在している、二次電池。 - 前記絶縁材は、前記第1外装体および前記第2外装体の少なくとも一方の表面上にもはみ出すように及んでいる、請求項1に記載の二次電池。
- 前記第1絶縁層が熱融着樹脂層であるのに対して、前記第2絶縁層が耐熱性樹脂層であり、該熱融着樹脂層が相対的に内側に位置付けられて前記一方が前記折り返されている、請求項1に記載の二次電池。
- 前記金属層が前記第1絶縁層よりも相対的に外側に位置付けられて前記一方が前記折り返されている、請求項1または3に記載の二次電池。
- 前記外装体が可撓性を有している、請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記封止縁が全体として1回曲げられた形態を有している、請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記封止縁が前記電極組立体の積層方向に沿って立設するように該封止縁が前記曲げられている、請求項6に記載の二次電池。
- 前記曲げられた前記封止縁は、前記電極組立体の側面を包囲する前記外装体の側面部分と前記絶縁材を介して接合されている、請求項6または7に記載の二次電池。
- 前記接合が、前記外装体の前記封止縁と前記側面部分との間にまで延在する前記絶縁材によってなされている、請求項8に記載の二次電池。
- 前記絶縁材が接着性を有する、請求項1〜9のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記電極組立体の電極として、リチウムイオンを吸蔵放出可能な正極および負極が含まれる、請求項1〜10のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記二次電池がモバイル機器用二次電池である、請求項1〜11のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
