Description
The present invention relates to a pneumatic tire. In particular, the present invention relates to pneumatic tires mounted on two-wheeled vehicles.
A tire is composed of a combination of many parts. Among these parts, there is a belt as a part located inside the tread in the radial direction. The belt is laminated with the carcass.
The belt contains a number of cords that extend incline with respect to the equatorial plane. The tilt angle of each cord is usually set in the range of 15 ° to 30 °. This belt contributes to steering stability. In the belt, many cords are arranged in parallel in the circumferential direction. According to this belt, the rigidity is easily tuned.
As the performance of motorcycles increases, tires are required to have improved high-speed stability and kickback resistance. From this point of view, it is considered to use a band instead of a belt in a tire mounted on a two-wheeled vehicle. This band contains a spirally wound cord. Various studies have been conducted on the composition of this band. An example of this study is disclosed in Patent Document 1 below.
A band-shaped ply is used to form the band. The strip ply contains multiple cords in parallel. A band is formed by spirally winding the band-shaped ply while applying tension to the band-shaped ply. Normally, the tension applied to the cord contained in the strip-shaped ply is uniform from the start of winding the strip-shaped ply to the end of winding the strip-shaped ply. In other words, when forming a band from a strip-shaped ply, both in the equatorial surface portion of the tire (hereinafter, crown region), in the shoulder portion of the tire (hereinafter, shoulder region), and between the crown region and the shoulder region. The tension applied to the cord of the strip-shaped ply is the same in the region (hereinafter referred to as the middle region).
In the manufacture of tires, it is obtained by pressurizing and heating an unvulcanized tire, that is, a low cover in a mold. The tread portion of the tire has a shape that is convex outward in the radial direction. When the low cover is pressurized and heated in the mold, a force acts in the crown region to press the strip ply against the mold. In the middle region, the force acts to bring the strip-shaped ply closer to the shoulder region. In a band composed of band-shaped plies wound with the same tension from the beginning to the end of winding, the force acting on the band in this mold causes the cord of the band-shaped ply located in the middle region to move toward the shoulder region. Tend to be. If the cord in the middle region is moved to the shoulder region, the rigidity of the band in the middle region may decrease.
In a tire having a band, the influence of the centrifugal force acting on the band during running is suppressed, so that the high-speed durability is improved. However, if the band has low rigidity in the middle region, buckling may occur, and the stability at the time of turning and the transient characteristics may be deteriorated.
The tread portion of the two-wheeled vehicle tire has a small curvature as compared with the curvature of the tread portion of the four-wheeled vehicle tire. For this reason, in tires for two-wheeled vehicles, buckling occurs, and the stability at the time of turning and the transient characteristics tend to deteriorate.
By winding the strip-shaped ply loosely or tightly, the rigidity balance of the band can be adjusted. In low cover molding, a tread is attached to the band. At the time of this pasting, if the band includes a portion where the strip-shaped ply is loosely wound, air tends to remain in this portion. If the low cover contains air, the appearance of the tire may be spoiled.
There is a need to establish a technique for adjusting the rigidity balance of the band and improving stability during turning and transient characteristics.
An object of the present invention is to provide a pneumatic tire in which stability during turning and improvement of transient characteristics are achieved.
The pneumatic tire according to the present invention includes a tread and a band located inside the tread in the radial direction. The ratio of the width of the band to the width of the tread is 50% or more. The band contains a spirally wound cord. The band includes a center portion and a pair of side portions. In the axial direction, each side portion is located outside the center portion. The ratio of the width of the center portion to the width of the band is 70% or less. The initial elongation of the cord in the center portion is larger than the initial elongation of the cord in the side portion. The initial elongation of the cord in the center portion is 0.2% or more and 1.0% or less. The initial elongation of the cord in the side portion is 0.1% or more and 0.9% or less.
Preferably, in this pneumatic tire, the ratio of the width of the band to the width of the tread is 90% or less.
Preferably, in this pneumatic tire, the ratio of the width of the center portion to the width of the band is 10% or more.
Preferably, in this pneumatic tire, the material of the cord is steel.
In the pneumatic tire according to the present invention, the width of the band is 50% or more of the width of the tread. This band effectively contributes to the stiffness of the tread portion of the tire.
And in this tire, this band is configured so that the cord has a large initial elongation at the center portion and the cord has a small initial elongation at the side portion. In this band, when the low cover is pressurized and heated to obtain a tire, the force acting on the band in the mold effectively suppresses the cord in the middle region from being brought to the shoulder region. According to this band, the rigidity of the middle region is properly maintained.
Further, in this tire, the width of the center portion is set to 70% or less of the width of the band. Moreover, the initial elongation of the cord is precisely controlled in each of the center portion and the side portion. According to this tire band, the rigidity in the middle region is maintained more appropriately.
Tires with this band prevent the occurrence of buckling. Since the tread can make sufficient contact with the road surface, this tire has excellent turning stability and transient characteristics. In other words, this tire achieves improved turning stability and transient characteristics.
According to the present invention, it is possible to obtain a pneumatic tire in which stability during turning and improvement of transient characteristics are achieved.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail based on preferred embodiments with reference to the drawings as appropriate.

FIG. 2 shows the strip-shaped
In the
As shown in FIG. 1, the
In this

The
As described above, the

In FIG. 1, the double-headed arrow WC represents the axial distance from the equatorial plane to the boundary CS between the
In this
In the
In particular, in this
In this
In the manufacture of the
In the manufacture of the
In the
As described above, the
In this
In the
As described above, in the

[Stability when turning]
The prototype tire was mounted on the rear wheel of a sports-type two-wheeled vehicle having a displacement of 1000 cc, and was filled with air so that the internal pressure was 290 kPa. Commercially available tires (size: 120 / 70ZR17) were mounted on the front wheels and filled with air so that the internal pressure was 250 kPa. This two-wheeled vehicle was run on a circuit course whose road surface is asphalt (radius of curvature of the turning course = 400 m), and a sensory evaluation was performed by the rider. The traveling speed was set to 250 km / h. The evaluation item is stability during turning. This result is an index with a maximum score of 5.0 points, and is shown in Tables 1 to 5 below. The larger the value, the better the stability during turning, which is preferable.
[Ride quality]
The tire was incorporated into a regular rim (rim size = 17M / C x MT6.00), and the tire was filled with air to set the internal pressure to 290 kPa. This tire was mounted on a drum type running tester and ran on a drum having a radius of 1.7 m at a speed of 15 km / h. A protrusion (width 5 cm x height 5 cm) was provided on the running surface, and the tire was allowed to overcome this protrusion. Regarding the reaction force generated in the tire due to this overcoming, the time from the generation of this reaction force to its disappearance was measured. The results are shown in Tables 1 to 5 below as indices. The larger the value, the better the riding comfort and the more preferable.
[Transient characteristics]

Commercially available tires (size: 120 / 70ZR17) were mounted on the front wheels and filled with air so that the internal pressure was 250 kPa. This two-wheeled vehicle was run on a circuit course whose road surface was asphalt, and a sensory evaluation was performed by the rider. The vehicle was run while rolling at a speed of 80 km / h, and the transient characteristics were evaluated. This result is an index with a maximum score of 5.0 points, and is shown in Tables 1 to 5 below. The larger the value, the better the transient characteristics and the more preferable.
