Description
本発明は、電磁波ノイズを吸収する抵抗体を内蔵する点火プラグに関する。 The present invention relates to a spark plug having a built-in resistor that absorbs electromagnetic noise.
点火プラグは、軸孔を有する絶縁体と、軸孔内に同軸的に設けられた中心電極及び端子金具とを備え、軸孔内において中心電極と端子金具とを電気的に接続している。中心電極と端子金具との間には、電磁波ノイズを吸収する抵抗体が配設される。 The spark plug includes an insulator having a shaft hole, a center electrode and a terminal fitting coaxially provided in the shaft hole, and electrically connects the center electrode and the terminal fitting in the shaft hole. A resistor that absorbs electromagnetic noise is arranged between the center electrode and the terminal fitting.
抵抗体は、例えば、カーボン等の導電性材料を含んで構成され、カーボン添加量に応じた抵抗値を有する。点火プラグの寿命性能の向上のためには、抵抗体中のカーボンの酸化抑制が望まれている。 The resistor is composed of, for example, a conductive material such as carbon, and has a resistance value according to the amount of carbon added. In order to improve the life performance of the spark plug, it is desired to suppress the oxidation of carbon in the resistor.
例えば、特許文献1には、ガラスと、ジルコニアなどのセラミックス粉末と、カーボンブラックなどの導電材と、金属とを含有する抵抗体を備えた点火プラグが開示されている。金属を分散させることにより、酸化による寿命性能の低下を抑制している。
For example,
しかしながら、近年の点火プラグには、例えば250℃、35kVという高温、高電圧での性能が要求される。従来の点火プラグでは、このような高温、高電圧では、安定した点火が維持できなくなるおそれがある。これは、抵抗体中の特定部位に電流集中が生じて温度上昇が起こり、カーボン等の導電材が酸化して消失するためであると推察される。その結果、抵抗体が高抵抗化することで、点火プラグが早期に劣化すると考えられる。 However, recent spark plugs are required to have performance at high temperatures and high voltages of, for example, 250 ° C. and 35 kV. With a conventional spark plug, stable ignition may not be maintained at such a high temperature and high voltage. It is presumed that this is because the current is concentrated in a specific part of the resistor, the temperature rises, and the conductive material such as carbon is oxidized and disappears. As a result, it is considered that the spark plug deteriorates at an early stage due to the increase in resistance of the resistor.
本発明は、かかる課題に鑑みてなされたものであり、高温・高電圧の条件下においても、抵抗体の抵抗値上昇による劣化が抑制されて、長期に亘って安定した点火を維持できる、信頼性の高い点火プラグを提供しようとするものである。 The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and is reliable because deterioration due to an increase in the resistance value of the resistor is suppressed even under high temperature and high voltage conditions, and stable ignition can be maintained for a long period of time. It is intended to provide a highly reliable spark plug.
One aspect of the present invention includes a long-axis center electrode (2) and
An insulator (3) that holds the center electrode on the tip side in the shaft hole (31), and
A ground electrode (4) facing the center electrode on the tip end side of the shaft hole,
A terminal fitting (5) that is held on the base end side in the shaft hole and connects the center electrode and the external power supply (12), and
A resistor (6) arranged between the center electrode and the terminal fitting in the shaft hole is provided.
The resistor is composed of an aggregate (61), a glass phase (62), and a conductive material (63) dispersed in the glass phase.
The conductive material is in a spark plug (1) containing a first conductive material (631) made of at least one of a metal boride and a metal silicide and a second conductive material (632) made of carbon.
In the spark plug, the resistor contains a first conductive material made of at least one of a metal boride and a metal silicide as a conductive material, and a second conductive material made of carbon. The first conductive material itself exhibits conductivity, and can fulfill the function of supplementing the conductivity of the second conductive material. Further, the first conductive material can be partially vitrified by being oxidized by heat or the like during the manufacture of the resistor and the use of the spark plug. The first conductive material partially vitrified in this way has an effect of suppressing the disappearance of the second conductive material made of carbon due to oxidation.
したがって、例えば250℃、35kVという高温、高電圧条件下における点火プラグの使用においても、抵抗体内部まで酸化が進行することを防止できる。したがって、カーボンからなる第2導電材の消失を抑制できる。その結果、点火プラグは、高温、高電圧条件下においても、初期の抵抗値を長期に亘って維持できる。その結果、高温、高電圧条件下においても例えば12万キロ走行相当の信頼性を発揮できる。 Therefore, even when the spark plug is used under high temperature and high voltage conditions of, for example, 250 ° C. and 35 kV, it is possible to prevent oxidation from proceeding to the inside of the resistor. Therefore, the disappearance of the second conductive material made of carbon can be suppressed. As a result, the spark plug can maintain the initial resistance value for a long period of time even under high temperature and high voltage conditions. As a result, reliability equivalent to traveling 120,000 km can be exhibited even under high temperature and high voltage conditions.
以上のごとく、上記態様によれば、高温・高電圧の条件下においても、抵抗体の抵抗値上昇による劣化が抑制されて、長期に亘って安定した点火を維持できる、信頼性の高い点火プラグを提供することができる。

Can be provided.
The reference numerals in parentheses described in the scope of claims and the means for solving the problem indicate the correspondence with the specific means described in the embodiments described later, and limit the technical scope of the present invention. It's not a thing.
(Embodiment 1)
An embodiment relating to a spark plug applied to an internal combustion engine will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 5. As illustrated in FIG. 1, the
ハウジング7は、筒状であり、内部に絶縁碍子3を備える。絶縁碍子3も筒状であり、軸孔31を有する。絶縁碍子3の軸孔31内には中心電極2が同軸的に配置される。
The
接地電極4は、軸孔31の先端側(すなわち、図1の下端側)において中心電極2と対向する。また、抵抗体6は、軸孔31内において中心電極2と端子金具5との間に配置される。内燃機関は、例えば自動車用エンジンであり、点火プラグ1は、ハウジング7の先端側に設けた取付ネジ部71によって、図示しないエンジン燃焼室に臨むシリンダヘッドの取付穴に螺結される。
The ground electrode 4 faces the
The
The
接地電極4は、ハウジング7の先端側に一体的に設けられ、L字形に屈曲する先端が、軸方向Zにおいて中心電極2の先端と対向している。これにより、中心電極2と接地電極4との間に、火花放電ギャップGを形成している。
The ground electrode 4 is integrally provided on the tip side of the
抵抗体6は、中心電極2と端子金具5との間において絶縁碍子3の内側に配置される円柱状の部材であり、導電性材料を含有して、所望の抵抗値に調整されている。抵抗体6は、中心電極2と端子金具5とを電気的に接続すると共に、電磁波ノイズを吸収する機能を有する。
The
抵抗体6と中心電極2、抵抗体6と端子金具5との間には、それぞれ第1ガラスシール層64、第2ガラスシール層65が充填される。第1、第2ガラスシール層64、65は、導電性の接合ガラスからなる。接合ガラスは、例えば、ガラスに銅粉末を混入させてなる銅ガラスによって形成される。これにより、外部電源12から、端子金具5、第2ガラスシール層65、抵抗体6、第1ガラスシール層64を経て、中心電極2に至る導電パスが形成される。
A first
図2に模式的に示すように、抵抗体6は、軸方向Zの先端側F、すなわち中心電極2側の第1ガラスシール層64との界面を、第1界面6Aとし、軸方向Zの基端側R、すなわち端子金具5側の第2ガラスシール層65との界面を、第2界面6Bとしている。
As schematically shown in FIG. 2, the
図3に例示されるように、抵抗体6は、骨材61と、ガラス相62と、これに分散された導電材63とからなる。抵抗体6は、骨材61と、ガラス相62を形成するためのガラス粉末と、導電材63の粉末とを含む粉末材料を熱処理して得られる。
As illustrated in FIG. 3, the
The material of the aggregate 61 is not particularly limited, and is made of ceramics such as zirconia.
導電材63としては、第1導電材631と第2導電材632とを含有する。第1導電材631は、金属硼化物及び金属硅化物の少なくとも一方からなる。第2導電材632は、カーボンからなる。導電材63が、第2導電材632と共に第1導電材631を含有するため、酸化による第2導電材632の消失を抑制する効果が発揮される。そのため、高温、高電圧条件下においても点火プラグ1が長期に亘って安定した点火を維持できる。
The
Examples of the metal of the metal boride include at least one metal element selected from the group consisting of the genera IVB, VB, VIB, and lanthanoids in the periodic table. The same applies to metal silicide. Preferably, among IVB to VIB, metal elements of the 4th to 6th periods are preferable, and among lanthanoids, lanthanum is preferable. In this case, the long-term stability of the
第1導電材631の酸化劣化を防止するという観点から、第1導電材631の融点は2000℃以上であることが好ましい。高温、高電圧環境下における酸化劣化をより防止するという観点からは、第1導電材631の融点は2500℃以上であることがより好ましく、2700℃以上であることがさらに好ましく、3000℃以上であることがさらにより好ましい。
From the viewpoint of preventing oxidative deterioration of the first
A part of the first
The vitrification of the first
図3に例示されるように、抵抗体6においては、骨材61の粒界に形成されたガラス相62に導電材63が分散されていることが好ましい。この場合には、導電材63による三次元的の導電パスが形成される。導電材63としては、第1導電材631と第2導電材632とを含有するため、骨材61の粒界において第1導電材631と第2導電材632とが近接配置される構造をとる。そのため、第1導電材631による上述の第2導電材の酸化消失の抑制効果がより十分に発揮される。
As illustrated in FIG. 3, in the
骨材61の粒界において、第1導電材631と第2導電材632とからなる導電材63が三次元的に連なっていることが好ましい。この場合には、導電材63による導電パスが確実に形成される。
At the grain boundaries of the aggregate 61, it is preferable that the
The mass ratio of the first
抵抗体中の導電材63の含有量(第1導電材631と第2導電材632との合計)は、電波雑音の抑制に適切な抵抗値に基づいて適宜調整できるが、例えば1質量%以下にすることができる。
The content of the
点火プラグ1の点火エネルギーを低減するという観点から、点火プラグ1のプラグ抵抗値Rは3kΩ以下であることが好ましい。
From the viewpoint of reducing the ignition energy of the
点火プラグ1は、電圧35kV以上、温度250℃以上の条件下で使用できる。これにより、高電圧、高温条件下における抵抗体6の劣化による抵抗増大抑制効果が顕著に発揮される。
The

Then, the

As the constituent material of the
抵抗体6の作製にあたっては、例えば、金属硼化物及び金属硅化物の少なくとも一方と、カーボン粉末と、ガラス粉末とを混合し、ガラスを主成分とする導電材−ガラス混合粉末する。そして、導電材−ガラス混合粉と、ジルコニア粉末とを混合して抵抗体6用の材料粉末を作製する。
In the production of the
The amount of carbon added to the material powder for the
The average particle size of the glass powder and the aggregate can be adjusted as appropriate. As the glass powder, for example, one having an average particle diameter of 20 μm or less can be used. As the aggregate, for example, one having an average particle diameter of 1 μm to 10 μm can be used. As the carbon, carbon having an average particle diameter of 1 μm to 10 μm can be used. Of the materials for resistors, the average particle size of the aggregate is usually the largest. As a result, a conductive material having a small average particle size is easily arranged at the grain boundaries of the aggregate, and a conductive path by the conductive material is easily formed. It is considered that the average particle size of the aggregate, carbon, metal boride, and metal filicide is substantially the same even in the
The average particle size of each material before firing is, for example, the particle size at a volume integration value of 50% in the particle size distribution obtained by the laser diffraction / scattering method. The average particle size of the first
また、ガラス粉末としては、上述の平均粒子径20μm以下の小径ガラス粉末と、例えば平均粒子径100μm以上の大径ガラス粉末とを併用することもできる。この場合には、骨材61の粒界に形成されるガラス相62にカーボン等の導電材63が偏在し易くなり、導電パスが形成されやすくなる。
Further, as the glass powder, the above-mentioned small-diameter glass powder having an average particle diameter of 20 μm or less and, for example, a large-diameter glass powder having an average particle diameter of 100 μm or more can be used in combination. In this case, the
The average particle size of the metal boride and metal porcelain powder used as the first
図1〜図3に例示されるように、本形態の点火プラグ1においては、抵抗体6が、導電材63として第1導電材631と第2導電材632とを含有する。第1導電材631が金属硼化物及び金属硅化物の少なくとも一方からなり、第2導電材632がカーボンからなる。第1導電材631は、それ自体が導電性を示し、第2導電材632の導電性を補う機能を果たすことができる。
As illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 3, in the
また、図3、図5(a)、図5(b)に例示されるように、第1導電材631は、さらに抵抗体6の製造時及び点火プラグの使用時の熱等により酸化されて部分的にガラス化しうる。例えば第1導電材631の表面に、酸化硼素、酸化珪素、ホウ酸塩、ケイ酸塩等からなるガラス領域631gが形成されうる。
Further, as illustrated in FIGS. 3, 5 (a) and 5 (b), the first
このように少なくとも部分的にガラス化した第1導電材631は、カーボンからなる第2導電材632の酸化による消失を抑制する効果がある。つまり、点火プラグ1の使用中に、抵抗体6内の例えば特定部位に電流集中が生じて温度上昇が起こったとしても、第1導電材631により第2導電材632の酸化による消失の抑制が可能になる。
The first
導電材63が例えば第1導電材631を含有するが、第2導電材632を含有しない場合には、導電材63の接触抵抗が大きくなる。導電材63として、第1導電材631及び第2導電材の両方を含有することにより、比較的軟らかいカーボンからなる第2導電材632と第1導電材631とにより導電パスを三次元的に多岐にわたって形成させることができる。
When the
また、第1導電材631のガラス化とは、例えば1個の粒子について、表面が部分的にガラス化していてもよいし、表面全体がガラス化していてもよいし、表面から内部までガラス化していてもよい。また、多数の第1導電材631について、一部の粒子がガラス化しており、残りはガラス化していなくてもよい。全ての粒子がガラス化していてもよい。
Further, the vitrification of the first
このような構成の抵抗体6を有するため、点火プラグ1は、たとえ250℃、35kVという高温、高電圧条件で使用しても、抵抗体6の内部まで酸化が進行することを防止できる。したがって、抵抗体6中の第2導電材632の消失を抑制できる。その結果、高温、高電圧条件下においても、初期の抵抗値を長期に亘って維持できる。その結果、高温高圧条件下の使用でも、点火プラグ1が例えば12万キロ走行相当の信頼性を発揮できる。
Since the
以上のごとく、上記形態によれば、高温・高電圧の条件下においても、抵抗体の抵抗値上昇による劣化が抑制されて、長期に亘って安定した点火を維持できる、信頼性の高い点火プラグ1を提供することができる。
なお、本形態以降において用いた符号のうち、既出の実施形態において用いた符号と同一のものは、特に示さない限り、既出の実施形態におけるものと同様の構成要素等を表す。
As described above, according to the above embodiment, a highly reliable spark plug capable of maintaining stable ignition for a long period of time by suppressing deterioration due to an increase in the resistance value of the resistor even under high temperature and high voltage conditions. 1 can be provided.
In addition, among the symbols used in the present and subsequent embodiments, the same codes as those used in the above-described embodiments represent the same components and the like as those in the above-mentioned embodiments, unless otherwise specified.
(実験例)
本例においては、第1導電材631の種類を変えて複数の抵抗体6を作製し、この抵抗体6を備えた点火プラグ1の信頼性を評価する。具体的には、後述の表1〜表3に示すように、実施例1〜51及び比較例1〜3の54種類の抵抗体6を作製し、点火プラグ1の信頼性の評価を行った。

In this example, a plurality of
各実施例、比較例の抵抗体6の製造は、表1〜3に示す第1導電材631をそれぞれ用い、実施形態1と同様にして行った。そして、実施形態1と同様にして点火プラグ1を構築した。第1導電材631及び第2導電材632の添加量は表1〜表3に示す通りである。骨材61の添加量は、20質量%であり、残量がガラス相62を形成するガラス粉末の添加量である。
The
The reliability test was conducted for each of the resistors of Examples and Comparative Examples as follows. Specifically, a
As shown in Tables 1 and 2, the spark plugs of the examples have an initial plug resistance value R in the range of 1 kΩ to 3 kΩ, and even if continuous ignition is repeated more than 200 million times in the reliability test, even if the spark plugs are repeatedly ignited more than 200 million times. The resistance increase rate of the plug resistance value R was 25% or less. That is, the spark plug of the embodiment can maintain stable ignition for a long period of time, has excellent durability, and is highly reliable. This is because the
これに対し、金属硼化物、金属窒化物ではなく、金属窒化物、金属炭化物をそれぞれ含有する比較例1、比較例2、並びに導電材としてカーボンのみを含有する比較例3は、表3に示すように信頼性試験における耐久性が不十分であった。 On the other hand, Comparative Example 1 and Comparative Example 2 containing metal nitride and metal carbide instead of metal boronide and metal nitride, and Comparative Example 3 containing only carbon as a conductive material are shown in Table 3. As described above, the durability in the reliability test was insufficient.
したがって、実施例のように抵抗体6を構成することにより、高温・高電圧の条件下においても、抵抗体6の抵抗値上昇による劣化が抑制されて、長期に亘って安定した点火を維持できる、信頼性の高い点火プラグ1を提供することができる。
Therefore, by configuring the
