Description
気泡は、インクジェットプリンタの吐出ノズルへのインク及び他の印刷液体の適切な供給を妨げる可能性がある。気泡は、例えば吐出ノズル及びシステムの接続部を介して、及び大きな温度変化および圧力変化の間の脱ガスにより、外部から印刷液体供給システムに入る可能性がある。従って、インクジェットプリンタは通常、印刷液体供給システムから気泡を取り除くための或る種の機構を含む。
幾つかのインクジェットプリンタにおいて、ガスを通過させるが液体を通過させない膜が、インク又は他の印刷液体から気泡を取り除くことを支援するために使用される。膜の乾燥側のより低い圧力によって、印刷液体の気泡は、膜の濡れた側から乾燥側へ引き寄せられ、当該乾燥側において空気は、雰囲気へ入れられる又は放出される。膜の乾燥側でのより低い圧力が失われる場合、空気は膜を介して印刷液体に再び入る可能性がある。
Claims (7)
- 印刷液体供給システム用の空気抜きシステムであって、
0より小さい第1の圧力で印刷液体を保持するための第1のチャンバ及び第2のチャンバであって、前記第1のチャンバがフィルタを介して前記第2のチャンバと流体連絡する、第1のチャンバ及び第2のチャンバと、
前記第1の圧力より小さい第2の圧力で空気を保持するためのリザーバと、
前記第1のチャンバ及び第2のチャンバそれぞれから前記リザーバへ空気を通すことができるが、印刷液体を通すことができない第1の通気孔及び第2の通気孔とを含み、前記第1の通気孔及び第2の通気孔が、前記第2の圧力より大きく且つ前記第1の圧力と前記第2の圧力との間の圧力差より小さい気泡圧力を有する、システム。 - 前記第1の圧力が、−1245.4Pa(−5水柱インチ)から−3487.3Pa(−14水柱インチ)の範囲内であり、前記第2の圧力が−6974.5Pa(−28水柱インチ)より小さい、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記気泡圧力が、3487.3Pa(14水柱インチ)より大きい、請求項2に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1の通気孔及び第2の通気孔のそれぞれが、開口を覆う膜を含み、前記膜が、前記開口の濡れた側に面する親液性部分と、前記開口の乾燥側に面する撥液性部分とを含む、請求項1〜3の何れかに記載のシステム。
- 前記親液性部分と前記撥液性部分が、前記開口を覆う全範囲において互いと接触している、請求項4に記載のシステム。
- 前記印刷液体がインクである、請求項1〜5の何れかに記載のシステム。
- 前記膜の撥液性部分が、濡れた場合に4981.8Pa(20水柱インチ)から14945.4Pa(60水柱インチ)の範囲の気泡圧力を有する、請求項4、5、及び請求項4又は5に従属する請求項6の何れかに記載のシステム。
