Description
The present invention relates to a protective element applied to a battery device using, for example, a lithium ion secondary battery, a protective circuit for a secondary battery, and a battery pack.
BACKGROUND ART A lithium ion secondary battery (hereinafter, appropriately referred to as a lithium ion battery) using lithium ion doping / de-doping is used as a mobile device such as a smartphone, a power supply of an electric tool, a power supply of an electric vehicle, and the like. Lithium ion batteries include a positive electrode in which a positive electrode active material layer using a lithium composite oxide is formed on a positive electrode current collector, and a carbon-based material such as graphite or a non-graphitizable carbon material capable of doping and dedoping lithium A negative electrode active material layer using a material has a negative electrode formed on a negative electrode current collector. The positive electrode and the negative electrode are stacked via a separator and bent or wound to form a battery element. This battery element is accommodated in a case such as a metal can or a laminate film together with a non-aqueous electrolytic solution obtained by dissolving a lithium salt in an aprotic organic solvent to constitute a battery cell. When configuring the power supply of the electronic device described above, one or more battery cells are connected in series and / or in parallel.
A protection element is required to prevent overcharging, overdischarging or overcurrent of the lithium ion battery. Conventionally, as a protective element mounted on a secondary battery device or the like, one having not only an overcurrent but also an overvoltage preventing function is used. This protective element is formed by laminating a soluble conductor consisting of a heating element and a low melting point metal body on a substrate, and melting the soluble conductor due to an overcurrent, and has an overcharge voltage or an overdischarge voltage. When it occurs, the switching element is turned on by an external signal from the battery control unit, the heating element in the protection element is energized, and the soluble conductor is melted off by the heat of the heating element.
However, the use of a fusible conductor has a problem that it can not be reused after operation.
In the configuration described in
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a protection element capable of immediately interrupting the circuit because the number of component parts is small and heat is hard to be dissipated, a protection circuit of a secondary battery using the protection element, and a battery pack. is there.

The protective element includes a heating element and an insulating layer formed by being stacked on an insulating substrate, a plurality of electrodes formed on the insulating substrate or on the insulating layer, and one of a plurality of electrodes at a substantially central portion of the inner surface. A conductive heat sensitive metal fixed to one electrode but not fixed at both ends across a plurality of electrodes, and bent at both ends toward the electrodes in a U-shaped cross section And the shape of the heat sensitive metal is changed by the heat from the heat generating element to open the connection between the both ends and the electrode ,
It is a battery pack in which the heat sensitive metal of the protection element is inserted in the current path of the battery unit.
According to the present invention, unlike the configuration in which the heat sensitive metal is pressed and attached, the number of parts can be reduced, the assembly process is simplified, and the heat does not escape to the case through the pressing member. Therefore, the operating speed can be increased without dissipating heat. Note that the effects described herein are not necessarily limited, and any of the effects described herein may be used.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described. The embodiments described below are preferable specific examples of the present invention, and various technically preferable limitations are added. However, the scope of the present invention is particularly preferable in the following description. The embodiments are not limited to these embodiments unless otherwise stated.
<1. First embodiment>
"Battery pack"
An example of a battery pack to which the present invention can be applied will be described with reference to FIG. In
The + side of the battery unit is derived as a + side terminal through the
At the time of charging, an authentication process is performed between the
The voltage of each of the battery cells BT is measured by the control unit 4. The control unit 4 has a comparator that compares the measured voltage of each battery cell with the reference voltage, and detects that each voltage of the battery cells BT has reached an excessive voltage that is determined to be dangerous. Is possible. When it is detected that the voltage of any of the battery cells BT has reached an excessive voltage, the control unit 4 generates a control signal for a switching element such as the FET 5 to turn on the FET 5.
When the FET 5 is turned on, a current is supplied to the heating element provided in the
The
The FET 3a is connected, for example, to turn on / off the charge current, and the
As described above, the
"Structure of protection element"
Hereinafter, an example of the
The
Furthermore, an insulating
The
The
The
The bimetal 16 is a combination of two metal plates having different coefficients of thermal expansion. For example, manganese, chromium, copper or the like is added to an alloy of iron and nickel to form two metal plates having different thermal expansion coefficients, and the two metal plates are bonded to produce a bimetal. As an example, by making the expansion coefficient of the lower metal plate larger than the expansion coefficient of the upper one of the two metal plates to be bonded, a bimetal which is warped upward by heat can be obtained. Both ends of the bimetal 16 are bent inward. This bent end stabilizes the electrical connection between both ends of the bimetal 16 and the
