Description
Claims (3)
- 感光体に形成された静電潜像を現像する現像剤保持体、及び前記現像剤保持体に現像剤を供給する現像剤供給部を有する現像部と、前記現像部によって前記感光体に現像された画像を、予め定めた速度で搬送される被転写体に転写する転写部と、を含む、前記被転写体の搬送方向に沿って配置された複数の画像形成手段と、
前記複数の画像形成手段の各々で画像形成が実行されない期間に、前記感光体に前記静電潜像を形成することなく、前記複数の画像形成手段の各々に含まれる前記現像剤保持体の各々に現像剤を保持させると共に、前記複数の画像形成手段の各々によって前記被転写体に付着される現像剤が互いに重複しないように、前記複数の画像形成手段の各々に含まれる前記現像剤保持体の駆動時間を制御する制御手段と、
前記複数の画像形成手段の各々によって前記被転写体に付着した現像剤を検出する検出手段と、
前記制御手段によって前記現像剤保持体の駆動を開始してから、前記検出手段で前記被転写体に付着した現像剤を検出するまでの時間に基づいて、前記複数の画像形成手段の中から、前記被転写体に現像剤を付着させた画像形成手段を特定する特定手段と、
を備えた画像形成装置。 - 前記制御手段は、前記現像剤保持体により前記感光体に現像剤を保持させる時間が、隣接する前記複数の画像形成手段の一方の画像形成手段による転写位置から他方の画像形成手段による転写位置まで前記被転写体に付着した現像剤が移動するのに要する時間未満となるように、前記複数の画像形成手段の各々に含まれる前記現像剤保持体の駆動時間を制御する
請求項1記載の画像形成装置。 - 前記検出手段は、前記被転写体に付着した現像剤の量を検出し、
前記特定手段は、前記検出手段で検出した現像剤の量に基づいて、前記複数の画像形成手段の各々に含まれる前記現像剤供給部から供給する供給現像剤量を特定し、
前記制御手段は、前記特定手段によって特定した前記供給現像剤量が、対応する画像形成手段の前記現像剤供給部から供給されるように、前記複数の画像形成手段の各々に含まれる前記現像剤供給部を制御する
請求項1又は請求項2記載の画像形成装置。
