Description
The present invention relates to a tire durability evaluation method.
As one method for evaluating the durability of a heavy duty tire, a bench test in which the tire is driven by a driving drum is employed. The tire bead durability test is performed, for example, in a state where a load higher than the maximum load specified by JATMA is applied. In this test, the durability of the test tire is evaluated based on the running time until the bead is damaged.
Among heavy duty tires, in particular, truck and bus tires (TB tires) may be used under severe conditions. For example, traveling in mountainous areas with many ups and downs, restraining the use of engine brakes for the purpose of saving fuel, and frequent use of foot brakes. In such traveling, the contribution of heat generated during braking operation (also simply referred to as brake heat) to bead damage is large.
JP-A-2013-257190 discloses an evaluation method for peeling and blow-through caused by such a rise in the temperature of the bead portion due to brake heat or the like.

Preferably, in the durability evaluation criteria, the running time of the tire and the dimensional change of the dimensional management part are obtained by a running test in which the tire is run while being heated,
The travel time is the travel time from the start of travel in the travel test to the occurrence of damage, and the dimensional change is due to deformation at the time of occurrence of damage in the travel test.
According to the tire durability evaluation method of the present invention, it is possible to easily evaluate the durability of the tire against brake heat.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail based on preferred embodiments with appropriate reference to the drawings.
In the durability evaluation method according to an embodiment of the present invention, a deformation that serves as an index of damage to a bead portion of a heavy duty pneumatic tire in the market is reproduced. The durability of the tire is evaluated from the degree of deformation. In this evaluation method, the tire to be evaluated is heated by the heating test 1. By this heating, the deformation caused by heating of the bead portion of the tire in the market is substantially reproduced, and the durability is evaluated from the degree of the deformation. Heating in this market is mainly heating through the rim due to heat generated by the braking operation. In this evaluation method, it is preferable to prepare a durability evaluation standard in advance. According to this evaluation method, it is possible to evaluate the durability of the evaluation target tire without running and damaging it. This evaluation method may be used, for example, as a simple durability evaluation method in which the evaluation tire is sieved after a certain degree of effect is predicted when the effect of the tire specifications is confirmed.
In the heating test 1, by heating a tire assembled with a rim, deformation due to heating of a tire bead portion in the market can be reproduced in the tire. The durability of the tire can be evaluated by comparing the degree of deformation with the above durability evaluation criteria.
This durability evaluation standard can be prepared in advance as will be described later. This durability evaluation standard can be created by a test (also referred to as a thermal bead test) for evaluating the durability of a tire using a test apparatus disclosed in JP 2013-257190 A. The thermal bead test is a running test in which a tire is run while being heated, and is a durability evaluation test. From this test result, the relationship (correlation 1) between deformation and travel time when the bead portion is damaged is grasped. In addition, in order to apply the durability evaluation standard obtained from the thermal bead test result to the evaluation of the heating test 1 result, the correlation (correlation 2) between the heating test result and the thermal bead test result is grasped in advance. It is good to keep.

[Heating test 1]
Hereinafter, a description will be given of the heating test 1 for substantially reproducing the above-described deformation in the market in the tire. In this heating test 1, a tire assembled with a rim is heated to a specified temperature for a specified time after filling the inside thereof with air so as to have a normal internal pressure or higher. The purpose is to cause targeted deformation of the tire. As the heating device, a so-called dry heat oven (an oven into which moisture is not injected) is used.
In the present embodiment, three types of temperatures of 110 ± 2 ° C., 100 ± 2 ° C., and 90 ± 2 ° C. are set as the tire heating temperature. The basis for the setting of the heating temperature is the result of investigations on many tires that were actually run. These tires were deformed by being used. This degree of deformation was indexed as a deformation index DI described later. The heating temperature is set by first determining the target deformation form described later from the market data, then confirming the deformation index DI corresponding to this deformation form, and determining the temperature of the bead portion assumed from this deformation index DI. Made by choosing.
DI = (A−B)/A×100(%)
The deformation index DI is specified by the following equation.
DI = (A−B) / A × 100 (%)
Here, A is a change in the bead toe inner diameter DT on the side where the brake drum is mounted, of the pair of tire beads. B is a change in the bead toe inner diameter DT on the side opposite to the brake drum mounting side of the
The specific heating temperature setting is shown as follows. From the market data, the target variants were classified into the following three categories. The deformation index DI corresponding to each classified deformation mode and the bead temperature estimated from the deformation index D1 were as follows. This bead temperature was set as the heating temperature.
1. Blow through the chafer, DI = 30% to 60%, bead temperature around 110 ° C, damage location near the center of chafer (symbol PA in Fig. 1)
2. Core loose, blowout from case break-up (CBU) beside core, DI = 20% to less than 30%, bead temperature around 100 ° C, damage location near bead toe (reference PB in Fig. 1)
3. Normal structural damage (PTL, etc.), DI = 10% or more and less than 20%, Bead part temperature of about 90 ° C, Damaged position is near ply edge (symbol PC in FIG. 1)
In the market, damage caused by blow-through from the
Thus, the grounds for setting the heating temperature to three types of 110 ± 2 ° C., 100 ± 2 ° C., and 90 ± 2 ° C. are that they are matched to the bead temperature corresponding to the targeted deformation mode. The heating temperature is not limited to the above three ranges. When aiming at other deformation modes, the heating temperature corresponding to the deformation can be set.
The reason for heating the bead portion to 110 ° C., 100 ° C., and 90 ° C. is to promote deformation by changing the physical properties of the rubber constituting the bead portion as the temperature rises. FIG. 3 illustrates a change in physical properties of a plurality of rubbers constituting the bead portion accompanying a temperature change. FIG. 3 shows changes in the complex elastic modulus E *, which is an index of hardness, for each of the sidewall rubber, the chafer rubber, and the bead apex rubber. The horizontal axis (X axis) represents the rubber temperature (° C.), and the vertical axis (Y axis) represents the complex elastic modulus E * at each temperature. ). The complex elastic modulus E * of each rubber decreases with increasing temperature. Thereby, a deformation | transformation of a bead part is accelerated | stimulated.
The heating time of the tire in the dry heat oven can be determined as follows. The setting of the heating time is based on the data shown in FIG. The complex elastic modulus E * of the chafer rubber is about 25% lower at 90 ° C., about 30% lower at 100 ° C. and about 35% lower at 110 ° C. than the reference value at 30 ° C. Based on this result, according to the difference in heating temperature, the heating time is varied as follows. 5 to 10 days when the heating temperature is 110 ± 2 ° C, 6 to 12 days when the heating temperature is 100 ± 2 ° C, 7 to 13 days when the heating temperature is 90 ± 2 ° C It is preferable that For any of the above heating temperatures, if the heating time is less than the lower limit, sufficient deformation corresponding to the deformation in the market may not be obtained, and if the upper limit is exceeded, large deformation exceeding the deformation in the market occurs. This is because there is a possibility that a significant difference does not occur between different tires and different specifications. From this point of view, the heating time is 6 to 8 days when the heating temperature is 110 ± 2 ° C, 8 to 10 days when the heating temperature is 100 ± 2 ° C, and the heating temperature is 90 ± 2 ° C. In this case, it is more preferably 9 days or more and 11 days or less.
The internal pressure of the tire during heating is preferably a normal internal pressure + 150 ± 50 kPa. This is because the

The amount of deformation caused by the heating of the tire after the heating step is measured. This amount of deformation can be evaluated according to the aforementioned durability evaluation criteria. The deformation amount here is different from the above-described deformation index DI. In the heating test 1, the temperature of the pair of bead portions is the same. The amount of deformation here is a kind of deformation index DB1, and is represented by the following equation.
DB1 = A x SC
Here, A is the amount of change in the bead toe inner diameter DT (see FIG. 2) of the tire. SC is the change (elongation) in the length LC of the
[Preparation of durability evaluation criteria by thermal bead test]
When preparing the above-mentioned durability evaluation criteria, a thermal bead test is performed. As described above, the durability evaluation by the thermal bead test is highly accurate but takes a long time for the evaluation. Therefore, here, the thermal bead test is carried out in order to create an evaluation standard.
FIG. 4 shows a thermal
The
The

1. It is in the vicinity of the center portion of the chafer where the blowout from the chafer is likely to occur (symbol PA in FIG. 1), and the heating temperature is 110 ± 2 ° C.
2. It is in the vicinity of the bead toe (symbol PB in FIG. 1) where the blowout from the CBU on the side of the core and the core is likely to occur, and the heating temperature is 100 ± 2 ° C.
3. Near the ply edge (symbol PC in FIG. 1) where structural damage such as PTL is likely to occur, the heating temperature is 90 ± 2 ° C.
As described above, also in this thermal bead test, the heating temperature is substantially the same as the heating temperature (110 ° C., 100 ° C., 90 ° C.) in the heating test 1 described above.
DB2 = A × SC
In the thermal bead test, the

[Correlation 1 between deformation index DB2 and travel time (durability)]
Tires of various specifications are subjected to this thermal bead test, and the running time (durability) and the deformation index DB2 are recorded. The graph of FIG. 5 shows the correlation (correlation 1) between the travel time (durability) and the deformation index DB2. FIG. 5 shows the correspondence between the running time of each tire and the deformation index DB2. On the horizontal axis (X axis), the deformation index DB2 (= bead toe inner diameter change A × chafer elongation SC) 24 hours after the end of travel is represented by an index, and the vertical axis (Y axis) travels. Time is represented by an index. The curve in FIG. 5 is obtained by exponentially approximating the relationship between the deformation index DB2 and the travel time. The graph of FIG. 5 obtained by the thermal bead test can be a durability evaluation standard of the

However, the test conditions differ between the heating test 1 and the thermal bead test. Therefore, the deformation index DB1 obtained in the heating test 1 is originally different from the deformation index DB2 obtained by the heat bead test. Therefore, it is necessary to confirm the correlation (correlation 2) between the thermal bead test result (DB2) and the heating test result (DB1). Due to the presence of this

DB3 = A × SC

The graph of FIG. 6 shows the correspondence between the deformation index DB2 as the bead test result of each tire and the deformation index DB3 as the result of the
With the above correlation 1 (FIG. 5) and correlation 2 (FIG. 6), the durability evaluation of the tire can be performed easily and in a short time. Based on the correlation 1 (FIG. 5) and the correlation 2 (FIG. 6), the result of the heating test 1 of the
