Description
The present invention relates to a double-sided coating system that continuously coats a coating liquid on both sides of a substrate while conveying the substrate.
In Patent Document 1, a long base material (current collector) is supported by a backup roll while being conveyed by a roll-to-roll method, and this base material is supported by a gap between the backup roll and a die coater disposed opposite thereto. A die coating type coating system (electrode plate manufacturing device) is disclosed in which an active material layer is formed by applying a coating liquid containing an active material on the surface of a substrate by a die coater in the process. ing.
In this coating system, after measuring the edge position of the base material supplied to the backup roll with the travel line control sensor, the deviation width between the measured edge position and the reference position is detected, and only this deviation width is detected. By moving the nozzle position of the die coater in the direction perpendicular to the traveling direction of the substrate, the distance between the end of the substrate and the end of the active material layer is kept constant.
In the coating system of the die coating system as disclosed in Patent Document 1, a coating liquid is applied with a die coater on the opposite surface of the base material corresponding to the support location while supporting one side of the base material with a backup roll. Therefore, if the coated surface is not dried after coating one surface of the substrate, the substrate cannot be supported by the backup roll when the opposite surface is coated. Therefore, when applying to both sides of the substrate, after coating one side of the substrate, the coated surface is dried, and then the substrate is wound once and then the opposite side of the substrate is applied. The method of crafting is common.
However, when coating on both sides of the substrate by the method of winding the substrate once after coating on one side as described above, in addition to the trouble of winding the substrate once, the substrate is coated on each side. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out a drying process that requires a certain amount of time twice, so that the processing efficiency is poor and the mass productivity is poor.
Moreover, when only one side of the base material is coated and then dried, curling and wrinkling may occur at both ends in the width direction of the base material. In this case, even if the opposite surface of the substrate that has been coated on one side using the coating system disclosed in Patent Document 1 is applied, the travel line depends on the degree of curl or wrinkle that has occurred at the end of the substrate. Since the end position of the base material measured by the control sensor changes, the change in the edge position according to the shift in the width direction of the base material cannot be detected accurately. As a result, the coating liquid cannot be applied with high positional accuracy on both surfaces of the base material, and the dimensions of the uncoated part do not match on both surfaces of the base material.
As soon as the die coating type coating system is constructed so that the substrate can be continuously coated on both sides of the substrate without winding up the substrate once, two devices for performing the drying process must be arranged, There is still a problem that the entire system becomes large in addition to being inferior in mass productivity.
The present invention has been made in view of such points, and the object of the present invention is to be able to apply the coating liquid on both surfaces of the base material with high positional accuracy, and to achieve both mass productivity and compact overall. It is to provide a coating system.
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention adopts a gravure coating type coating device for each coating device that coats both sides of the substrate, and transports both of these coating devices to the substrate. It was made to move according to the shift in the width direction accompanying each.
Specifically, the present invention is directed to a double-sided coating system that continuously applies a coating solution to both sides of a base material while conveying the base material, and has taken the following solution.
That is, according to one embodiment of the present invention, the width direction of the base material with respect to both the plurality of guide rollers that transport the long base material in a roll-to-roll manner and the base material that is transported by the plurality of guide rollers First and second coating devices for coating the coating liquid so as to leave uncoated portions on both ends of the dryer, and a dryer for drying the substrate coated with the coating liquid on both sides And comprising. The base material is formed on both sides of the active material layer for the battery on both sides of the metal foil, leaving an unformed part in the width direction of the metal foil. Each of the first coating device and the second coating device is located between adjacent guide rollers among the plurality of guide rollers, and applies a coating liquid containing a flame retardant so as to cover the active material layer. It is a gravure kiss coating type coating apparatus.
And one mode of the present invention is a moving mechanism for moving the first coating device and the second coating device in the width direction of the substrate, and the first coating device and the second coating at least in the conveyance direction of the substrate. Edge detection means that detects the position of the edge in the width direction of the substrate at a position upstream from the device, and detection by the edge detection means relative to the reference position of the edge of the substrate when running at the normal position of the substrate A controller that moves the first coating device and the second coating device so as to follow the shift of the edge position of the base material by driving the moving mechanism when the detection position of the edge of the base material is shifted. Are further provided.
In one aspect of the present invention, the coating liquid is applied to both surfaces of the substrate by the gravure kiss coating type first coating device and the second coating device, respectively. The gravure kiss coating type first coating device and the second coating device are located between the guide rollers, and do not support the surface opposite to the surface on which the base material is coated with the backup roll. Since it is an apparatus which applies a coating liquid to the surface of a base material, it can coat continuously on both surfaces of a base material. This eliminates the need for drying each time the base material is applied one side at a time, so after applying the coating solution on both sides of the base material, the coated surfaces of the base material are combined with a single dryer. The overall size of the coating system can be made compact. Furthermore, since it is not necessary to perform a drying process twice, mass productivity can be improved.
Moreover, according to one aspect of the present invention, the edge detection unit detects the position of the edge in the width direction of the base material at a position upstream of the first coating device and the second coating device in the base material transport direction. Is done. At this time, in one embodiment of the present invention, since only one side of the base material is applied and not dried, the occurrence of curling and wrinkling at the end in the width direction of the base material is suppressed. Accordingly, since the end portion of the base material is in a flat state, a change in the edge position according to the shift in the width direction of the base material can be accurately detected by the edge detection means. In one aspect of the present invention, when the detection position of the edge of the base material is deviated from the reference position, the movement mechanism is driven by the controller so that the first coating device and the second coating device become the base material. since movement of the to follow the displacement of the edge position, Ru can be positioned accurately apply the coating liquid on both surfaces of the substrate by these two coating devices. Thereby, the dimension of an uncoated part can be match | combined correctly on both surfaces of a base material, and an active material layer can be reliably covered with the coating liquid containing a flame retardant. As a result, the heat-resistant protective layer formed by drying the coating liquid can be formed with high positional accuracy, and a high-quality electrode material for a battery can be obtained.
In the double-sided coating system of one aspect of the present invention, the first coating device and the second coating device may be arranged at a distance in the substrate transport direction. In this case, the edge detection means detects a position of the edge of the base material at a position upstream of the first coating device and the second coating device in the transport direction of the base material, and A second edge detector that detects the position of the edge of the substrate between the first coating device and the second coating device, and the controller is one of the first coating device and the second coating device. Based on the detection position of the edge of the base material detected by the first edge detector, the coating device located on the upstream side in the transport direction of the base material is moved out of the first coating device and the second coating device. It is preferable to move the coating apparatus located on the downstream side in the conveyance direction of the base material based on the detection position of the edge of the base material detected by the second edge detector.
In such a configuration, one of the first coating device and the second coating device located on the downstream side in the conveyance direction of the substrate is the same as the first coating device and the second coating device. Since the base material is moved based on the edge position of the base material detected by the second edge detector, the base material is moved in the width direction due to the effect of coating the base material with the other coating device located on the upstream side. Even if it shifts, the coating apparatus located on the downstream side can be moved so as to follow the shift of the base material. Thereby, when the edge detection means is one edge detector and both the first coating device and the second coating device are moved based on the edge position of the base material detected by the one edge detector. In comparison, the dimensions of the uncoated part can be more accurately matched on both surfaces of the substrate. In the above configuration, the coating device located on the upstream side rotates a gravure roll (slant gravure plate) having a plurality of oblique engraving grooves extending in a spiral shape on the outer surface to apply the coating liquid onto the surface of the substrate. This is particularly effective because the base material easily shifts in the width direction with application by the application apparatus .
In time the active material layer in the electrode material for batteries, since there is a need for high density is compressed by a pressing process after its formation. For this reason, the metal foil on which the active material layer is formed is unevenly extended in the width direction and the length direction in the pressing process, so that the end in the width direction of the metal foil undulates in the length direction of the substrate. There may be a curved state. In this case, if no measures are taken, the edge position of the substrate detected by the edge detection means changes depending on the state of the curved state at the end of the substrate, and the deviation in the width direction of the substrate There is a possibility that the change of the edge position according to the frequency cannot be detected accurately.
From this, the double-sided coating system according to one aspect of the present invention has both end portions in the width direction of the substrate before the upstream side in the conveyance direction of the substrate with respect to the position where the edge of the substrate is detected by the edge detection means. It is preferable to further include a pair of end portion supporting rollers for supporting only each of them.
Thus, if both ends in the width direction of the substrate are supported by the pair of support rollers before the position where the edge of the substrate is detected, the both ends of the substrate are made as flat as possible by the contact of the support rollers. The edge detection means can detect the edge of the base material, that is, the base material can be sent to the edge detection means, and the edge detection means suppresses the edge position of the base material from changing according to the state of the curved state at the edge of the base material. Thus, it is possible to accurately detect a change in the edge position according to the shift in the width direction of the base material.
According to one aspect of the present invention, a coating liquid can be applied to both surfaces of a substrate with high positional accuracy, and an overall compact double-side coating system excellent in mass productivity can be realized.

A schematic configuration of the
Specifically, the
The
The
The
In this double-sided coating system 1, the same coating device (hereinafter referred to as a comprehensive coating device) 5 is used for both the
As shown in FIG. 3, the
The small-
The outer diameter D of the small
The coating
As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the
The
A liquid supply pipe and a liquid return pipe (not shown) are connected to the
As shown in FIG. 3, the
The
As described above, both side ends of the
When the
Specifically, when the horizontally-applied
The
The
And the double-sided coating system 1 of this embodiment has the structure which moves these
As shown in FIG. 4, a moving
Further, an
The
In the
The
The floating
A
On the other hand, between the
The end
In this way, by holding the
Furthermore, it becomes possible to arrange the floating
-Effect of Embodiment 1-
According to the first embodiment, since the gravure kiss coating type coating device is adopted for the
Moreover, according to this Embodiment 1, since it does not dry after apply | coating only the single side | surface of the
-Modification of Embodiment 1-
A modification of the first embodiment is shown in FIG. FIG. 7 is a configuration diagram of a part of the
Thus, if the both ends in the width direction of the

FIG. 8 shows a schematic configuration of the

-Effect of Embodiment 2-
In the double-side coating system 1 of the present embodiment, the second coating is performed based on the edge position of the

In addition, in
As described above, the present invention is useful for a double-sided coating system in which the coating liquid is applied to both sides of the base material while conveying the base material, and in particular, the coating liquid is applied to both sides of the base material.
