Description
本発明は、ニッケルナノ粒子の焼結性を改善するための表面改質方法に関し、より詳しくは、例えば積層セラミックスコンデンサ(MLCC)の内部電極材料などの用途に用いるニッケルナノ粒子の表面改質方法に関する。 The present invention relates to a surface modification method for improving the sinterability of nickel nanoparticles, and more specifically, a method for surface modification of nickel nanoparticles used for applications such as an internal electrode material of a multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC). About.
In MLCC, ceramic dielectrics and internal electrodes are alternately layered and pressure-bonded, and fired and integrated. When forming such MLCC internal electrodes, metallic nickel particles, which are internal electrode materials, are made into a paste and then printed on a ceramic substrate. Next, after drying, laminating and press-bonding, a binder removal treatment for removing organic substances is usually performed by heating to about 250 to 400 ° C. in an oxygen atmosphere. By performing such a heat treatment, the metallic nickel particles are oxidized, thereby causing volume expansion. Further, after that, sintering is performed under a reducing atmosphere at a high temperature (for example, about 1200 to 1400 ° C. in the case of a barium titanate ceramic dielectric). By this sintering, once oxidized metal nickel particles are reduced, Volume shrinkage occurs.
Thus, in the manufacturing process of MLCC, metallic nickel particles expand and contract due to an oxidation reaction or a reduction reaction, resulting in a volume change. The ceramic dielectric also expands and contracts due to sintering, resulting in a volume change. However, the behavior of volume change due to expansion / contraction during sintering differs between the metallic nickel particles and the ceramic dielectric. That is, since the sintering start temperature (about 500 ° C.) of the metal nickel particles and the sintering start temperature (about 1000 ° C.) of the ceramic dielectric are greatly different, there is a possibility that defects such as delamination and cracks may occur.
In recent years, as MLCC has been reduced in size and increased in capacity, and as internal electrodes have become thinner, metal nickel particles having a nano-size have been required. However, due to the influence of the size effect, the tendency of the metal nickel particles to shrink at a lower temperature becomes stronger as the particle size is reduced. In particular, when the metal nickel particles are nano-sized, defects such as delamination and cracks are likely to occur due to the size effect. Therefore, for example, improvement of the sintering start temperature of metallic nickel particles having a particle size of 150 nm or less is demanded.
It is known that when a strong oxide film is formed on the surface of the metal nickel particles, the sintering start temperature of the metal nickel particles increases. For example, metallic nickel particles synthesized by a vapor phase method have a high thermal history during the reaction, and thus a strong oxide film is formed on the surface. On the other hand, the metal nickel particles synthesized by the liquid phase method have a low thermal history during the reaction, so the surface oxide film may be unstable amorphous or may form nickel hydroxide, This contributes to lowering the sintering start temperature.
金属微粒子の表面処理に関して、例えば特許文献1では、磁性粉末のFe16N2を作製するため、反応容器内を高真空に保持し、この容器内に反応ガスとしてのN2ガス等を導入してグロー放電を行うことにより鉄粉末を窒化する方法が提案されている。ただし、特許文献1の提案は、不純物除去や酸化被膜形成を目的とするものではない。また、使用する装置も高真空が必要である。
Regarding the surface treatment of metal fine particles, for example, in
また、金属微粒子を対象とするものではないが、例えば特許文献2では、対向する2つの電極の間にある金属被処理体の少なくとも被処理面を不活性気体と反応性気体との混合気体の雰囲気下におき、該混合気体を大気圧下プラズマ励起して電極間にグロー放電を行なわせる表面処理法が提案されている。
Further, although not intended for metal fine particles, for example, in
本発明の目的は、例えば150nm以下の粒径を有するニッケルナノ粒子の焼結時の熱収縮性を改善することである。 An object of the present invention is to improve heat shrinkability during sintering of nickel nanoparticles having a particle size of, for example, 150 nm or less.
本発明者らは、鋭意研究を重ねた結果、酸素含有ガスのプラズマで処理することにより、ニッケルナノ粒子の表面に適度な厚みで酸化ニッケルの被膜を形成することが可能になり、ニッケルナノ粒子の焼結時の収縮を効果的に抑制できることを見出し、本発明を完成するに至った。 As a result of extensive research, the present inventors have been able to form a nickel oxide film on the surface of nickel nanoparticles with an appropriate thickness by treating with plasma of oxygen-containing gas. According to the surface modification method of the present invention, nickel nanoparticles can be treated with an oxygen-containing gas plasma to remove impurities such as nickel hydroxide and form a strong oxide film.
[Plasma treatment]
The plasma treatment of nickel nanoparticles is performed by introducing a plasma generation gas and a treatment gas containing an oxygen-containing gas into a treatment container containing nickel nanoparticles, and preferably generating a glow discharge at atmospheric pressure. be able to. By utilizing atmospheric pressure glow discharge, uniform and mild plasma treatment can be performed on nickel nanoparticles at a low temperature. In addition, since atmospheric pressure glow discharge does not require vacuum equipment in the processing apparatus, plasma processing can be performed with a simple configuration. In addition, in the atmospheric pressure glow discharge, it is possible to perform a continuous process in which a plasma process is performed while supplying and discharging nickel nanoparticles into a processing container. In addition, the plasma treatment of nickel nanoparticles can be performed in a reduced pressure state or a pressurized state, and in the case of plasma treatment in a reduced pressure state, the lower limit value of the pressure is preferably set to 0.1 Pa. . When the lower limit is not reached, the oxygen concentration becomes extremely low, and it becomes difficult to form a desired oxide film on the surface of the nickel nanoparticles. On the other hand, in the case of plasma treatment in a pressurized state, the upper limit value of the pressure is preferably 10 atm (1 MPa). When this upper limit is exceeded, a large power source is required, and the equipment cost is significantly increased, which is not preferable.
プラズマ処理に用いるプラズマ生成用ガスとしては、例えばHe、Ar、Xe、Krなどの希ガスを用いることができる。 As a plasma generation gas used for the plasma treatment, for example, a rare gas such as He, Ar, Xe, or Kr can be used.
酸素含有ガスとしては、O2ガス、O2ガスを含有するガス(例えば空気)のほか、例えばO3、H2O(水蒸気)、N2Oなどを用いることができる。 The oxygen-containing gas, O 2 gas, in addition to the gas containing O 2 gas (e.g. air), for example O 3, H 2 O (water vapor), and the like can be used N 2 O.
The concentration of the oxygen-containing gas in the atmospheric pressure glow discharge is preferably in the range of 0.01% by volume to 10% by volume with respect to the total flow rate of the processing gas. When the concentration of the oxygen-containing gas is less than 0.01% by volume, the oxidizing power is weak and oxide film formation on the nickel nanoparticle surface tends to be insufficient. On the other hand, if the concentration of the oxygen-containing gas exceeds 10% by volume, the oxidizing power becomes too strong and the oxide film on the surface of the nickel nanoparticles may become too thick, and stable glow discharge becomes difficult. There is.
The temperature of the plasma treatment in the atmospheric pressure glow discharge is preferably in the range of 5 ° C. or more and 200 ° C. or less, for example, in order to perform efficient oxidation treatment while suppressing thermal shrinkage of the nickel nanoparticles, and 20 ° C. or more and 150 ° C. It is more preferable to set the temperature within a range of ° C or lower. If the temperature of the plasma treatment is less than 5 ° C., the inside of the plasma apparatus must be cooled, resulting in high costs. If the temperature exceeds 200 ° C., the condensation or aggregation of nickel nanoparticles tends to proceed. Here, the temperature of the plasma treatment represents the temperature of the surface of the nickel nanoparticles when measured with a radiation thermometer.
In order to generate atmospheric pressure glow discharge, the high frequency power is preferably in the range of 50 W to 500 W, for example. When the high frequency power is less than 50 W, glow discharge is not sufficiently generated, so that the surface modification of the nickel nanoparticles is insufficient, and when it exceeds 500 W, heat is generated and the aggregation or aggregation of the nickel nanoparticles tends to proceed. Become. From such a viewpoint, the frequency of the high frequency output is preferably in the range of 200 Hz to 1 MHz, for example, and more preferably in the range of 1 kHz to 100 kHz.
The plasma irradiation time in the plasma processing is related to the plasma output. If the plasma output is high, the plasma processing time can be shortened. For example, when the high frequency power is in the range of 50 W to 500 W, the plasma irradiation time is preferably in the range of 3 minutes to 120 minutes. If the irradiation time is less than 3 minutes, the surface modification of the nickel nanoparticles becomes insufficient, and if the irradiation time exceeds 120 minutes, the oxidation of the nickel nanoparticles may proceed excessively. For example, when plasma processing is performed with high frequency power of about 1 kW, the plasma irradiation time can be shortened to about 1 minute. From such a viewpoint, the plasma output and the irradiation time can be controlled to suppress heat generation. The plasma treatment may be continuous plasma irradiation or intermittent plasma irradiation, but intermittent plasma irradiation is preferable from the viewpoint of suppressing the temperature rise of the nickel nanoparticles.
本実施の形態における表面改質方法では、上記条件でプラズマ処理を行うことによって、ニッケルナノ粒子の表面の水酸化物被膜が酸化物被膜に改質される。すなわち、水酸化ニッケル(Ni(OH)2)のOH基が酸化されて酸化ニッケル(NiO)に変化する。 In the surface modification method in the present embodiment, the hydroxide coating on the surface of the nickel nanoparticles is modified to an oxide coating by performing plasma treatment under the above conditions. That is, the OH group of nickel hydroxide (Ni (OH) 2 ) is oxidized and changed to nickel oxide (NiO).

次に、本実施の形態の表面改質方法で改質の対象となるニッケルナノ粒子について説明する。上記のとおり、本実施の形態で表面改質対象のニッケルナノ粒子は、以下の(1)〜(3)の条件;
(1)走査型電子顕微鏡観察による平均粒子径が20nm以上150nm以下の範囲内であり、
(2)窒素雰囲気で熱重量分析によって測定される室温から500℃における重量減少率が0.5〜5%であり、
(3)水酸化物の被膜を有するが、X線回折で結晶性の水酸化ニッケルが観測されない;
を満たすニッケルナノ粒子である。
[Nickel nanoparticles]
Next, nickel nanoparticles that are to be modified by the surface modification method of the present embodiment will be described. As described above, the nickel nanoparticles to be surface-modified in the present embodiment have the following conditions (1) to (3):
(1) The average particle diameter by observation with a scanning electron microscope is in the range of 20 nm to 150 nm,
(2) The weight loss rate from room temperature to 500 ° C. measured by thermogravimetric analysis in a nitrogen atmosphere is 0.5 to 5%,
(3) Having a hydroxide coating, but no crystalline nickel hydroxide is observed by X-ray diffraction;
The nickel nanoparticles satisfying
The nickel nanoparticles used in the surface modification method of the present embodiment have an average particle diameter in the range of 20 to 150 nm, preferably in the range of 40 to 150 nm, as observed with a scanning electron microscope. From another viewpoint, the average particle diameter by BET measurement is in the range of 20 to 150 nm, preferably in the range of 40 to 150 nm. When the average particle diameter of the nickel nanoparticles is less than 20 nm, the specific surface area increases, the sintering start temperature decreases due to the increase in surface free energy, and aggregated particles increase. In addition, when the average particle diameter of nickel nanoparticles is less than 20 nm, delamination with the dielectric layer becomes severe, so that, for example, it lacks practicality as an internal electrode material of MLCC, and the nickel nanoparticles are heated by debinding. Since the particles easily aggregate or melt and easily take in oxygen, the volume expansion or contraction change of the nickel nanoparticles increases. On the other hand, nickel nanoparticles having an average particle size of 200 nm or more have been conventionally used as the internal electrode material of MLCC, but nickel nanoparticles having an average particle size of 150 nm or less are required as the internal electrode layer is made thinner. ing. That is, when the average particle diameter of the nickel nanoparticles exceeds 150 nm, the distribution width of the minimum diameter particles and the maximum diameter particles increases, and when used for the internal electrode material of the thinned MLCC, Prone to short circuit failure.
なお、本実施の形態の表面改質方法で用いるニッケルナノ粒子は、粒子径の変動係数(CV)が0.2以下であることが好ましい。変動係数を0.2以下とすることで、MLCCの製造過程で、ペースト塗布後の乾燥塗膜の表面平滑性が得られやすい。 The nickel nanoparticles used in the surface modification method of the present embodiment preferably have a coefficient of variation (CV) in particle diameter of 0.2 or less. By setting the coefficient of variation to 0.2 or less, it is easy to obtain the surface smoothness of the dried coating film after applying the paste in the MLCC manufacturing process.
The nickel nanoparticles used in the surface modification method of the present embodiment have a weight reduction rate from room temperature to 500 ° C. measured by thermogravimetric analysis under a nitrogen atmosphere of 0.5 to 5%, preferably 1 to Within 3% range. The weight loss in such a temperature range is caused by the change from the hydroxide coating to the oxide coating by dehydration, but there are organic substances and adsorbed water on the surface of the nickel nanoparticles. Even in this case, weight reduction is confirmed in this temperature range. Considering these, in the present embodiment, the weight reduction rate of the nickel nanoparticles is defined to be in the range of 0.5 to 5%. In other words, in order to suppress thermal shrinkage, ideally, the weight reduction rate should be zero and free of impurities, but in practice, the surface of the nickel nanoparticles, for example, adsorbed water, oxides, hydroxides, etc. In particular, in organic wet synthesis, such adhesion is unavoidable, so the lower limit of the weight reduction rate is set to 0.5%. Moreover, when the weight reduction rate is less than 0.5%, not only the effect of suppressing the surface activity of the nickel nanoparticles is reduced, but also the dispersibility may be lowered. On the other hand, when the weight reduction rate is larger than 5%, the oxide film formed by the surface modification may be too thick. In addition, alteration of the protective agent that modifies the surface of the nickel nanoparticles (for example, polymerization) may be facilitated.
本実施の形態の表面改質方法で用いるニッケルナノ粒子は、ニッケルナノ粒子の表面に、水酸化物[例えば水酸化ニッケル(Ni(OH)2)]の被膜が形成されている。このような被膜は、ニッケルナノ粒子を構成する金属ニッケルの表面に部分的に存在する被膜でもよいし、該粒子の全表面に亘る被膜でもよい。なお、水酸化物の被膜には、金属ニッケルの表面に存在する吸着水を含んでいてもよい。 In the nickel nanoparticles used in the surface modification method of the present embodiment, a coating of hydroxide [for example, nickel hydroxide (Ni (OH) 2 )] is formed on the surface of the nickel nanoparticles. Such a coating may be a coating partially existing on the surface of metallic nickel constituting the nickel nanoparticles, or may be a coating covering the entire surface of the particles. The hydroxide coating may contain adsorbed water present on the surface of the metallic nickel.
The hydroxide film is characterized in that crystalline nickel hydroxide is not observed by X-ray diffraction. This is because, in the nickel nanoparticles used in the present embodiment, the hydroxide film is composed of amorphous nickel hydroxide having low crystallinity, or the hydroxide film is X-ray diffraction. Means that the level is undetectable by. By making the hydroxide film amorphous or less than the detection limit by X-ray diffraction, the nickel oxide film is smoothly modified. That is, in the plasma treatment, moisture is volatilized from the hydroxide film covering the metallic nickel, and is removed to change to the oxide film. Such a dehydration reaction is more likely to proceed more rapidly in the amorphous state or below the detection limit by X-ray diffraction than in the case where the hydroxide film has high crystallinity.
The nickel nanoparticles used in the surface modification method of the present embodiment contain a nickel element. The content of the nickel element may be appropriately selected according to the purpose of use, but the amount of the nickel element is preferably 90 parts by mass or more, more preferably 95 parts by mass or more with respect to 100 parts by mass of the nickel nanoparticles. It is good to do. Examples of metals other than nickel include titanium, cobalt, copper, chromium, manganese, iron, aluminum, sodium, potassium, magnesium, zirconium, tin, tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, barium, calcium, and strontium. Examples include base metals such as silicon, aluminum and phosphorus, noble metals such as gold, silver, platinum, palladium, iridium, osmium, ruthenium, rhodium, rhenium, neodymium, niobium, holonium, dysprodium and yttrium, and rare earth metals. These may be contained alone or in combination of two or more, may contain elements other than metal elements such as hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, sulfur and boron, and may be alloys thereof. .
The nickel nanoparticles used in the surface modification method of the present embodiment contain an oxygen element. Such an oxygen element is considered to be derived from an oxygen element contained in a hydroxide film partially existing on the surface of the nickel nanoparticles. This means that the thickness of the hydroxide coating on the nickel nanoparticles is almost the same regardless of the size of the average particle size, whereas the content of oxygen element decreases as the average particle size of the nickel nanoparticles decreases. Is presumed to be higher. That is, the smaller the average particle diameter of the nickel nanoparticles, the larger the total surface area (the total surface area of all nickel nanoparticles), and therefore the oxygen element content in the entire nickel nanoparticles is considered to be relatively large. .
The content of oxygen element in the nickel nanoparticles is almost constant before and after the modification by the plasma treatment, and is in the range of 0.2 to 5.0% by mass, preferably 0.5 to 2.0% by mass. Within the range is good. Specifically, in the surface modification method in the present embodiment, nickel hydroxide (Ni (OH) 2 ) is modified to nickel oxide (NiO) by dehydration, and nickel element on the surface of the nickel nanoparticles is oxidized. Therefore, the content of the oxygen element present on the surface of the nickel nanoparticle is hardly changed before and after the modification. As described above, in the surface modification method according to the present embodiment, plasma is generated by atmospheric pressure glow discharge, and surface oxidation is performed with a strength that does not substantially change the content of oxygen element in the nickel nanoparticles. It is. If the oxygen element content after the modification is less than 0.2% by mass, the effect of suppressing the surface activity of the nickel nanoparticles tends to be small. There is a tendency that volume change is likely to occur at the time of binding. The content of oxygen element can be confirmed by elemental analysis of nickel nanoparticles.
本実施の形態の表面改質方法で用いるニッケルナノ粒子は、硫黄元素を含有していてもよい。 The nickel nanoparticles used in the surface modification method of the present embodiment may contain elemental sulfur.
[ニッケルナノ粒子の製造方法]
次に、本実施の形態の表面改質方法で用いるニッケルナノ粒子の製造方法について説明する。
[Production method of nickel nanoparticles]
Next, a method for producing nickel nanoparticles used in the surface modification method of the present embodiment will be described.
本実施の形態の表面改質方法で用いるニッケルナノ粒子は、例えば、気相法や液相法などの方法により得られるが、その製造方法については特に限定されない。 The nickel nanoparticles used in the surface modification method of the present embodiment can be obtained by, for example, a gas phase method or a liquid phase method, but the production method is not particularly limited.
In the vapor phase method, for example, using a reaction apparatus having a vaporization section, a reaction section, and a cooling section, and using nickel chloride as a raw material, the nickel chloride is heated and vaporized in the vaporization section and then transferred to the reaction section with a carrier gas, Here, the metal can be deposited in a particulate form by contacting with hydrogen, and then the obtained nickel nanoparticles can be cooled in the cooling section. What is necessary is just to control reaction temperature to about 950 degreeC-1100 degreeC, for example. The particle size control of the nickel nanoparticles in this method can be carried out, for example, by controlling the flow rate of the carrier gas. In general, if the flow rate of the carrier gas is increased, the particle diameter of the obtained nickel nanoparticles tends to be small. In addition, the coefficient of variation of the obtained nickel nanoparticles can be controlled by using, for example, a classification means using centrifugal force.
気相法は液相法に比べて製造コストが高価になりがちであるので、液相法を適用することが有利である。また、液相法で合成されたニッケルナノ粒子は、水酸化物の被膜を有していることが多く、そのまま本発明方法を適用できる。液相法のなかでも、粒子径分布が狭いニッケルナノ粒子を短時間で容易に製造する方法として、下記の工程A〜C;
A)金属ニッケルの前駆体であるニッケル塩を有機溶媒に溶解して、ニッケル錯体を生成させた錯化反応液を得る工程、
B)錯化反応液を、マイクロ波照射によって加熱して、ニッケルナノ粒子のスラリーを得る工程、
C)ニッケルナノ粒子のスラリーからニッケルナノ粒子を単離する工程、
を具える方法が好ましい。
Since the gas phase method tends to be expensive to produce compared to the liquid phase method, it is advantageous to apply the liquid phase method. In addition, nickel nanoparticles synthesized by a liquid phase method often have a hydroxide coating, and the method of the present invention can be applied as it is. Among the liquid phase methods, as a method for easily producing nickel nanoparticles having a narrow particle size distribution in a short time, the following steps A to C;
A) A step of obtaining a complexing reaction solution in which a nickel salt, which is a precursor of metallic nickel, is dissolved in an organic solvent to form a nickel complex,
B) A step of heating the complexing reaction liquid by microwave irradiation to obtain a slurry of nickel nanoparticles,
C) isolating nickel nanoparticles from a slurry of nickel nanoparticles,
A method comprising
Step A) Complexation reaction solution generation step:
Examples of the nickel precursor (nickel salt) include nickel chloride, nickel nitrate, nickel sulfate, nickel carbonate, nickel carboxylate, Ni (acac) 2 (β-diketonato complex), and nickel stearate. For example, nickel chloride hexahydrate (NiCl 2 · 6H 2 O) is composed of a complex, trans- [NiCl 2 (H 2 O) 4 ], and two water molecules weakly bound thereto. Only four of the water molecules have a structure directly bonded to nickel. Since the water molecule of nickel hexahydrate having such a structure can be easily replaced by an amine or the like, an amine complex can be easily formed by mixing with an amine. By using nickel (II) chloride as part or all of the nickel precursor, metallic nickel having high crystallinity can be generated.
It is also preferable to use nickel carboxylate having a relatively low dissociation temperature (decomposition temperature) in the reduction process as the nickel precursor. As nickel carboxylate, for example, nickel carboxylate having 1 to 12 carbon atoms can be used. The nickel carboxylate may be a monocarboxylic acid having one carboxy group or may be a carboxylic acid having two or more carboxy groups. Moreover, acyclic carboxylic acid may be sufficient and cyclic carboxylic acid may be sufficient. As nickel carboxylate, for example, nickel formate, nickel acetate and the like can be used, but it is more preferable to use nickel formate which has a low reduction temperature and also has a function of generating nuclei for producing nickel nanoparticles.
The organic solvent is not particularly limited as long as it can dissolve the nickel salt, and examples thereof include ethylene glycol, alcohols, organic amines, N, N-dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, acetone, and the like. On the other hand, organic solvents such as ethylene glycol, alcohols and organic amines having a reducing action are preferred. Among these, primary organic amines (hereinafter abbreviated as “primary amines”) can form a complex with nickel ions by dissolving a mixture with a nickel salt. It is easy to effectively exhibit the reducing ability for (or nickel ions), and can be advantageously used for nickel salts whose reduction temperature by heating is high. The primary amine is not particularly limited as long as it can form a complex with nickel ions, and can be a solid or liquid at room temperature. Here, room temperature means 20 ° C. ± 15 ° C.
常温で液体の1級アミンは、ニッケル錯体を形成する際の有機溶媒としても機能する。なお、常温で固体の1級の有機アミンであっても、加熱によって液体であるか、又は有機溶媒を用いて溶解するものであれば、特に問題はない。 The primary amine that is liquid at room temperature also functions as an organic solvent for forming the nickel complex. Even if it is a primary organic amine that is solid at room temperature, there is no particular problem as long as it is liquid by heating or can be dissolved using an organic solvent.
The primary amine may be an aromatic primary amine, but an aliphatic primary amine is preferred from the viewpoint of easy nickel complex formation in the reaction solution. The aliphatic primary amine can control the particle size of the nickel nanoparticles produced by adjusting the length of the carbon chain, for example. From the viewpoint of controlling the particle diameter of the nickel nanoparticles, the aliphatic primary amine is preferably selected from those having about 6 to 20 carbon atoms. The larger the carbon number, the smaller the particle size of the nickel nanoparticles obtained. Examples of such amines include octylamine, trioctylamine, dioctylamine, hexadecylamine, dodecylamine, tetradecylamine, stearylamine, oleylamine, myristylamine, and laurylamine.
The primary amine is preferably a liquid at room temperature from the viewpoint of ease of treatment operation in the washing step of separating the solid component of the nickel nanoparticles produced after the reduction reaction from the solvent or the unreacted primary amine. Further, the primary amine is preferably one having a boiling point higher than the reduction temperature from the viewpoint of ease of reaction control when the nickel complex is reduced to obtain nickel nanoparticles. The amount of the primary amine is preferably 2 mol or more, more preferably 2.2 mol or more, relative to 1 mol of the nickel salt. When the amount of primary amine is less than 2 mol, it is difficult to control the particle diameter of the nickel nanoparticles obtained, and the particle diameter tends to vary. The upper limit of the amount of primary amine is not particularly limited, but is preferably 20 mol or less from the viewpoint of productivity, for example.
In order to proceed the reaction in a homogeneous solution more efficiently, an organic solvent other than the primary amine may be newly added. The organic solvent that can be used is not particularly limited as long as it does not inhibit the complex formation between the primary amine and the nickel ion. For example, the organic solvent having 4 to 30 carbon atoms, 7 to 30 carbon atoms, and the like. A saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon organic solvent, an alcohol organic solvent having 8 to 18 carbon atoms, or the like can be used. Moreover, from the viewpoint of enabling use even under heating conditions by microwave irradiation, it is preferable to select an organic solvent having a boiling point of 170 ° C. or higher, more preferably in the range of 200 to 300 ° C. It is better to choose one. Specific examples of such an organic solvent include tetraethylene glycol and n-octyl ether.
Although the complex formation reaction can proceed even at room temperature, in order to perform a sufficient and more efficient complex formation reaction, for example, the reaction is performed by heating within a range of 100 ° C. to 165 ° C. This heating can be appropriately set from the viewpoint of separating from the subsequent heat reduction process by microwave irradiation of the nickel complex (or nickel ions) and completing the complex formation reaction. The heating method is not particularly limited, and may be heating by a heat medium such as an oil bath or heating by microwave irradiation.
なお、核剤は、工程A(錯化反応液生成工程)に限らず、工程B(ニッケルナノ粒子スラリー生成工程)におけるマイクロ波照射の前までに配合すればよい。 In addition, when using nickel chloride as nickel salt, it is preferable to mix | blend the substance (nucleating agent) used as the nucleus at the time of producing | generating the metallic nickel which comprises nickel nanoparticle in a complexing reaction liquid. As the nucleating agent, any substance capable of nucleation can be used without particular limitation. In addition to the above-mentioned nickel formate, for example, copper formate, silver nitrate, copper nitrate, palladium salt, platinum salt, gold salt, etc. Can be used. By using these nucleating agents, metallic nickel having high crystallinity can be efficiently generated from nickel chloride. The blending amount of the nucleating agent is preferably in the range of 0.1 to 50 mol% with respect to nickel chloride. If the blending amount of the nucleating agent is less than 0.1 mol% with respect to nickel chloride, the effect of promoting the formation of nickel metal from nickel chloride cannot be obtained, and if it exceeds 50 mol% with respect to nickel chloride, many nuclei are produced. As a result, the particle diameter of the nickel nanoparticles tends to be small. In addition, what is necessary is just to mix | blend a nucleating agent before the microwave irradiation in not only the process A (complexation reaction liquid production | generation process) but the process B (nickel nanoparticle slurry production | generation process).
Process B) Nickel nanoparticle slurry production process:
In this step, the complexing reaction solution obtained by the complexation reaction between the nickel salt and the organic solvent is heated by microwave irradiation, and nickel ions in the complexing reaction solution are reduced to produce metallic nickel. A nanoparticle slurry is obtained. The temperature for heating by microwave irradiation is preferably 170 ° C. or higher, more preferably 180 ° C. or higher, from the viewpoint of suppressing variation in the shape of the obtained nickel nanoparticles. The upper limit of the heating temperature is not particularly limited, but is preferably 270 ° C. or less, for example, from the viewpoint of efficiently performing the treatment. In addition, the use wavelength of a microwave is not specifically limited, For example, it is 2.45 GHz.
Heating of the complexing reaction solution by microwave irradiation enables uniform heating in the reaction solution and can directly apply energy to the medium, so that rapid heating can be performed. As a result, the entire reaction solution can be made uniform at a desired temperature, and the processes of reduction, nucleation, and nucleation of the nickel complex (or nickel ions) occur simultaneously in the entire solution. Narrow monodisperse particles can be easily produced in a short time. In particular, it is suitable for producing nickel nanoparticles having an average particle diameter in the range of 20 to 150 nm.
In order to generate nickel nanoparticles with a uniform particle size, the heating temperature in the complexing reaction solution generation process is adjusted within a specific range, and is surely lower than the heating temperature by microwaves in the nickel nanoparticle slurry generation process. By doing so, particles having a uniform particle diameter and shape are easily generated. For example, if the heating temperature is too high in the complexing reaction liquid generation process, the formation of a nickel complex and the reduction reaction to nickel (zero valence) proceed simultaneously and different metal species are generated. It may be difficult to produce particles having a uniform particle shape. In addition, if the heating temperature of the nickel nanoparticle slurry generation step is too low, the reduction reaction rate to nickel (zero valent) is slowed and the generation of nuclei is reduced, so that not only the particles are enlarged, but also the yield of nickel nanoparticles is reduced. It is not preferable also from a point.
ニッケルナノ粒子スラリー生成工程においては、必要に応じ、前述した有機溶媒を加えてもよい。なお、前記したように、錯形成反応に使用する1級アミンを有機溶媒としてそのまま用いることは、本発明の好適な実施の形態である。 In the nickel nanoparticle slurry production step, the organic solvent described above may be added as necessary. As described above, it is a preferred embodiment of the present invention to use the primary amine used in the complex formation reaction as an organic solvent as it is.
工程C)ニッケルナノ粒子単離工程:
本工程では、マイクロ波照射によって加熱して得られるニッケルナノ粒子スラリーを、例えば、静置分離し、上澄み液を取り除いた後、適当な溶媒を用いて洗浄し、乾燥することで、ニッケルナノ粒子が得られる。
Process C) Nickel nanoparticle isolation process:
In this step, the nickel nanoparticle slurry obtained by heating by microwave irradiation, for example, standing and separating, removing the supernatant liquid, washing with an appropriate solvent, and drying, thereby allowing the nickel nanoparticles to be dried. Is obtained.
The nickel nanoparticles to be modified can be produced as described above. For example, the nickel nanoparticles can be kept in an organic solvent for a predetermined time in the state of a nickel nanoparticle slurry, or the nickel nanoparticle slurry can be dried in a low oxygen state. For example, a predetermined hydroxide film can be formed on the surface of the nickel nanoparticles. This hydroxide film is an amorphous film in which crystalline nickel hydroxide is not observed by X-ray diffraction, and is measured in a temperature range from room temperature to 500 ° C. measured by thermogravimetric analysis under a nitrogen atmosphere. The weight loss rate is in the range of 0.5 to 5%.
In the surface modification method of the present embodiment, the hydroxide film is changed to an oxide film by the plasma treatment. Since the oxide film thus generated can suppress rapid oxidation of the nickel nanoparticles into the interior during sintering, the occurrence of defects such as delamination and cracks can be avoided. The nickel nanoparticles whose surface is modified in this way can be suitably used as a material for an internal electrode of a multilayer ceramic capacitor, for example, because thermal shrinkage is suppressed by the oxide film.
以下、本発明を実施例により具体的に説明するが、本発明はこれらの実施例によって何ら限定されるものではない。なお、以下の実施例において、特にことわりのない限り各種測定、評価は下記によるものである。 EXAMPLES Hereinafter, the present invention will be specifically described with reference to examples, but the present invention is not limited to these examples. In the following examples, various measurements and evaluations are as follows unless otherwise specified.
[Measurement of average particle size]
Take a photograph of the sample with SEM (scanning electron microscope), extract 200 randomly from it, find the area of each, and calculate the average of primary particles based on the number of particles when converted to a true sphere The particle size was calculated. The CV value (coefficient of variation) was calculated by (standard deviation) / (average particle diameter). In addition, it shows that a particle diameter is so uniform that a CV value is small.
For the average particle diameter (BET converted diameter) by BET measurement, the surface area per unit weight (BET value) of the nickel nanoparticles was measured, and the BET converted diameter was calculated from the BET value using the following formula.
BET equivalent diameter (nm) = 6 / BET value (m 2 / g) / true density (g / cm 3 ) × 1000
[熱機械分析(TMA)、熱重量分析(TGA)、5%熱収縮温度]
試料を5Φ×2mmの円柱状成型器に入れ、プレス成型して得られる成型体を作製し、窒素ガス(水素ガス3%含有)の雰囲気下で、熱機械分析(TMA)および熱重量分析(TGA)を行った。また、熱機械分析装置(TMA)により測定される5%熱収縮の温度を5%熱収縮温度とした。

Under an atmosphere of nitrogen gas (containing 3% hydrogen gas), thermomechanical analysis (TMA) and thermogravimetric analysis ( TGA). Moreover, the temperature of 5% heat shrinkage measured by a thermomechanical analyzer (TMA) was taken as 5% heat shrinkage temperature.

As a result of elemental analysis, it was C; 0.6, O; 1.6 (unit: mass%). Moreover, the weight loss rate in the temperature range from 240 ° C. to 300 ° C. measured by thermogravimetric analysis under a nitrogen atmosphere was 2.0%. In the hydroxide coating on the surface of the nickel nanoparticles, crystalline nickel hydroxide was not observed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The obtained nickel nanoparticles had an average particle diameter of 90 nm, a CV value of 0.18, and a 5% heat shrink temperature of about 300 ° C.

The XRD measurement results for nickel nanoparticles before and after surface modification by plasma treatment are shown in FIG. Is the result of 3A to 3C that the peak of oxide (NiO) is increased by the plasma treatment.
また、プラズマ処理を10回繰り返した場合のニッケルナノ粒子のTGAの測定結果の変化を図4に示した。図4から、プラズマ処理を繰り返す毎に、重量減少が生じており、プラズマ処理によって水酸化ニッケルなどの不純物が除去されていることがわかる。 Moreover, the change of the measurement result of the TGA of the nickel nanoparticle when the plasma treatment is repeated 10 times is shown in FIG. From FIG. 4, it can be seen that weight reduction occurs each time the plasma treatment is repeated, and impurities such as nickel hydroxide are removed by the plasma treatment.
さらに、焼結時の熱収縮挙動を確認するために、プラズマ処理の前後のニッケルナノ粒子について、TMAを測定した結果を図5に示した。図5から、プラズマ処理を行うことで5%収縮時の温度が向上している。これは、図3の結果を考慮すると、ニッケルナノ粒子の表面に、強固な酸化被膜が形成されたためであると考えられる。 Furthermore, in order to confirm the heat shrink behavior at the time of sintering, the result of measuring TMA for the nickel nanoparticles before and after the plasma treatment is shown in FIG. From FIG. 5, the temperature at the time of 5% shrinkage is improved by performing the plasma treatment. This is considered to be because a strong oxide film was formed on the surface of the nickel nanoparticles in consideration of the result of FIG.
以上のことから、液相法で合成したニッケルナノ粒子に低酸素雰囲気下のグロー放電を利用したプラズマ処理を行うことによって、水酸化ニッケルなどの不純物を除去し、ニッケルナノ粒子の表面に強固な酸化被膜を形成させるとともに、焼結時の熱収縮を抑制し得ることが確認された。 Based on the above, nickel nanoparticles synthesized by the liquid phase method are subjected to plasma treatment using glow discharge in a low oxygen atmosphere to remove impurities such as nickel hydroxide, and the surface of the nickel nanoparticles is solidified. It was confirmed that an oxide film can be formed and thermal shrinkage during sintering can be suppressed.
Example 2
Surface modification by plasma treatment was performed in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the average particle diameter of the nickel nanoparticles used in the plasma treatment was changed to 50 nm. The measurement results of TMA of nickel nanoparticles before and after plasma treatment are shown in FIG. It can be seen from FIG. 6 that the initial thermal shrinkage is suppressed by performing the plasma treatment. From this result, nickel nanoparticles synthesized by the liquid phase method are subjected to plasma treatment in a low oxygen atmosphere to remove impurities such as nickel hydroxide and form a strong oxide film on the surface of the nickel nanoparticles. It was confirmed that heat shrinkage during sintering can be suppressed.
